Yeah... still not surprised Rainbow.

goatgirl,

Nope, I am not going to answer your questions because they are ramblings of another insane person. I am not sure where you got rabies from concerning Blum- if you are inferring that I have labeled him as having "rabies" due to his "rabid speech" you have got to be one of the most mis-lead wacknuts on the planet. Now you want to bring in using an adjective describing ones speech or even the person's temperment as indicative of being diagnosed with Rabies.

I can say this, your questions are not only absurd, but foolish as are your response to my earlier posts.

1) I stated that posting one persons idea in order to back that idea up as truth is misleading. It is as intelligent as saying the Bible is true because it says so in the Bible. That is why I brought up the meat industry making a case for not rapidly identifying bacteria in meat products. Should they have wanted to ban testing (to save money) having them commission the study is biased. Again... point being BIAS

2) Stating someone is rabidly attacking or acting a rabid way, is quite different than "He is rabid, I know because he was diagnosed with rabies"

The reason I do not answer your questions more than what I feel I need to is because you DON'T listen, instead you do exactly what you did above with your stupid statments concerning rapid testing and rabies.

Had Mr. Blum contracted rabies he would have undergone either a) the series of shots or 2) the new improved shot treatment - I would assume you would know something about it coming from Ames, IA which houses one of the leading Veterinary Schools in the US (one that I almost attended). On the other hand, had he already started showing symptoms - treatment would have been ineffective and his chances of living incredibly slim (and in case you are trying to do a quick google - go to my favorite place www.cdc.gov- click on R for rabies and have your fill)

Besides, depending on where he lives and what he has worked with he has probably already received his vaccine like I have.

Recovery of a Patient from Clinical Rabies --- Wisconsin, 2004

Rabies is a viral infection of the central nervous system, usually contracted from the bite of an infected animal, and is nearly always fatal without proper postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) (1). In October 2004, a previously healthy female aged 15 years in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, received a diagnosis of rabies after being bitten by a bat approximately 1 month before symptom onset. This report summarizes the investigation conducted by the Wisconsin Division of Public Health (WDPH), the public health response in Fond du Lac County, and the patient's clinical course through December 17. This is the first documented recovery from clinical rabies by a patient who had not received either pre- or postexposure prophylaxis for rabies.

While attending a church service in September, the girl picked up a bat after she saw it fall to the floor. She released the bat outside the building; it was not captured for rabies testing, and no one else touched the bat. While handling the bat, she was bitten on her left index finger. The wound was approximately 5 mm in length with some blood present at the margins; it was cleaned with hydrogen peroxide. Medical attention was not sought, and rabies PEP was not administered.

Approximately 1 month after the bat bite, the girl complained of fatigue and tingling and numbness of the left hand. These symptoms persisted, and 2 days later she felt unsteady and developed diplopia (i.e., double vision). On the third day of illness, with continued diplopia and onset of nausea and vomiting, she was examined by her pediatrician and referred to a neurologist. At that time, the patient continued to have blurred vision and also had partial bilateral sixth-nerve palsy. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with and without contrast and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) studies of her brain were normal, and the patient was sent home.

On the fourth day of illness, the patient's symptoms continued, and she was admitted to a local hospital for lumbar puncture and supportive care. On admission, she was afebrile, alert, and able to follow commands. She had partial sixth-nerve palsy, blurred vision, and unsteady gait. Standard precautions for infection control were observed. Lumbar puncture revealed a white blood cell count of 23 cells/µL (normal: 0 cells/µL) with 93% lymphocytes, a red blood cell count of 3 cells/µL (normal: 0 cells/µL), a protein concentration of 50 mg/dL (normal: 15--45 mg/dL), and a glucose concentration of 58 mg/dL (normal: 40--70 mg/dL). During the next 36 hours, she had slurred speech, nystagmus, tremors of the left arm, increased lethargy, and a temperature of 102oF (38.9oC).

On the sixth day of illness, the bat-bite history was reported, and rabies was considered in the differential diagnosis. The patient was transferred to a tertiary care hospital. Because rabies was recognized as a possibility, expanded infection-control measures, including droplet precautions and one-to-one nursing, were instituted at time of transport. On arrival, the patient had a temperature of 100.9oF (38.3oC), impaired muscular coordination, difficulty speaking, double vision, muscular twitching, and tremors in the left arm. She was somewhat obtunded but answered questions appropriately and complied with commands.

Blood serum, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), nuchal skin samples, and saliva were submitted to CDC for rabies testing. MRI with and without contrast and angiogram/venogram sequences were normal. She had hypersalivation and was intubated. Rabies-virus--specific antibodies were detected in the patient's serum and CSF. Direct fluorescent antibody staining of nuchal skin biopsies was negative for viral antigen, and rabies virus was not isolated from saliva by cell culture. Rabies-virus RNA was not detectable by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction assay of either sample. Therefore, identification of the virus variant responsible for this infection was not possible.

Clinical management of the patient consisted of supportive care and neuroprotective measures, including a drug-induced coma and ventilator support. Intravenous ribavirin was used under an investigational protocol. The patient was kept comatose for 7 days; during that period, results from lumbar puncture indicated an increase in antirabies IgG by immunofluorescent assay from 1:32 to 1:2,048. Her coma medications were tapered, and the patient became increasingly alert. On the 33rd day of illness, she was extubated; 3 days later she was transferred to a rehabilitation unit. At the time of transfer, she was unable to speak after prolonged intubation. As of December 17, the patient remained hospitalized with steady improvement. She was able to walk with assistance, ride a stationary cycle for 8 minutes, and feed herself a soft, solid diet. She solved math puzzles, used sign language, and was regaining the ability to speak. The prognosis for her full recovery is unknown.

To provide community members accurate information about rabies and its transmission, local and state health officials held a press conference on October 21. Public health officials and community pediatricians visited the patient's school to assess the need for rabies prophylaxis among students. WDPH distributed assessment tools to the local health department to screen health-care workers and community contacts of the patient for exposure to potentially infectious secretions. The patient's five family members, five of 35 health-care workers, and 27 of 55 community contacts received rabies PEP, either because of exposure to the patient's saliva during sharing of beverages or food items or after contact with vomitus. No health-care workers at the tertiary care hospital required PEP. Site inspection of the church revealed no ongoing risk for exposure to bats.

Reported by: RE Willoughby, MD, MM Rotar, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; HL Dhonau, MD, KM Ericksen, Agnesian HealthCare, Fond du Lac; DL Cappozzo, Fond du Lac County Health Dept; JJ Kazmierczak, DVM, JP Davis, MD, Wisconsin Div of Public Health. CE Rupprecht, VMD, Div of Viral and Rickettsial Diseases; AP Newman, DVM, AS Chapman, DVM, EIS officers, CDC.

Editorial Note:

This case represents the sixth known occurrence of human recovery after rabies infection; however, the case is unique because the patient received no rabies prophylaxis either before or after illness onset. Historically, the mortality rate among previously unvaccinated rabies patients has been 100% (2). The five previous patients who survived were either previously vaccinated (3) or received some form of PEP before the onset of illness (4--7). As in this case, viral antigen was not detected nor was virus isolated from those patients; increased antibody titers detected in serum and CSF (inconsistent with vaccination alone) confirmed the diagnosis of clinical rabies. Only one of the five patients recovered without neurologic sequelae (4). No specific course of treatment for rabies in humans has been demonstrated to be effective, but a combination of treatments, which might include rabies vaccine, rabies immune globulin, monoclonal antibodies, ribavirin, interferon-alpha, or ketamine, has been proposed (2). Given the lack of therapeutic utility observed to date, and because the patient had rabies-virus--neutralizing antibodies on diagnosis, a decision was made to avoid use of immune-modulators (e.g., rabies vaccine, rabies immune globulin, or interferon). However, the particular benefits of the regimen received by this patient remain to be determined.

The history of a bat bite 1 month before this patient's illness suggests an etiology of bat-associated rabies-virus variant. This is consistent with the epidemiologic pattern of rabies in humans in the United States during the preceding 2 decades. During 1980--2000, a total of 26 (74%) of rabies-virus variants obtained from patients in the United States were associated with insectivorous bats, most commonly silver-haired and eastern pipistrelle bats (8,9), including a variant from a fatal case of rabies reported in Wisconsin in 2000 (10).

In this case, only five health-care workers received PEP. Previous reports of rabies cases have noted large numbers of contacts being treated (8); however, delivery of health care to a patient with rabies is not an indication for PEP unless the mucuous membranes or open wound of a health-care worker are contaminated by infectious material (e.g., saliva, tears, CSF, or neurologic tissue). Adherence to standard precautions for infection control will minimize the risk for exposure (1).

Rabies in humans is preventable with proper wound care and timely and appropriate administration of PEP before onset of clinical disease (1). PEP is recommended for all persons with a bite, scratch, or mucous-membrane exposure to a bat, unless the bat tests negative for rabies. When direct contact between a human and a bat has occurred and the animal is not available for testing, PEP should be administered when a strong probability of exposure exists. However, if a bat bite is unrecognized or if the significance of exposure is underestimated, medical intervention might not be sought and appropriate treatment not administered. Once clinical signs of rabies are evident, a progressive and usually fatal encephalitis ensues.

This report underscores the need for increasing public awareness to minimize the risk for rabies following contact with bats and other wildlife. Persons bitten by a potentially rabid animal should immediately 1) wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water, 2) capture the animal (if this can be done safely by avoiding direct contact) and submit it for testing or quarantine, 3) contact local or state public health officials, and 4) visit a physician for treatment and evaluation regarding the need for PEP. Persons should not handle or keep bats as pets and should keep bats away from living quarters and public places. Despite the recovery of this patient, no proven therapy for clinical rabies has been established, and the reasons for recovery in this case are unknown. Clinicians and the public should recognize the risk for contracting rabies from any direct contact with bats and not regard it as a curable disease on the basis of the outcome of this case.

This argument is over.

From the start it there was Blum's "view," and Pid's assertion that it's "conspiracy theory."

If no one is going to tackle refuting Blum's view, then there's no need for discussion. If Blum's view is completely incorrect, there should be readily available information out there to refute it. Therefore, if no one's prepared to do the homework and find this information then they really don't have a leg to stand on challenging anything. It's extremely plain and simple.

Everyone here tries to come with facts, and if you don't have them what purpose are you serving?

LMAO.. Oh okay Acoustic. I think that jwhop has made some compelling arguments and I promise this;

When I am done working on a grant that is due in 3 weeks, I will refute the blurbs Blum has made.

Right now, it's enough for me to post from time to time, but I have to get this damn thing together or we could lose a few hundred thousand a year that would be used to get teachers up to qualifications.

Hmmm... keep beating a dead horse and post the volumes of crap that will need to be posted or get my grant out to the state dept of ed?

And trust me, I won't forget - so if no one hears anything by May 24th, then come on and pester me.

I'm trying to help. Let's see... this site:
http://citycellar.com/BalkanWitness/blum.htm

says William Blum is a member of the International Committee to Defend Slobodan Milosevic. If this is true (and it very well could be), one can certainly see that site's author's point that, "While Blum has done some useful work in detailing U.S. intervention worldwide, his discussion of Kosovo represents careless research and denial of Serbian war crimes." That author does provide links to information regarding the facts on Kosovo (beware that on the IHF homepage the request at the top of the list is for the U.s. to "Comply with its Obligations under the UN Convention against Torture and Stop Sending Terrorist Suspects to Torture Countries." Don't want you to have to see any anti-American talk.)

Confirmation that WAshington Free Press did indeed publish something controversial:
http://www.washingtonfreepress.org/40/Mail.html

See how easy that was? I managed to discredit Blum, his logic, and his politics in one fell swoop. It doesn't mean he's necessarily wrong about everything, but at least he has that capacity. Also, I provided a verifiable argument.

I'd have posted this earlier [tonight], but I was trying to understand what Jwhop's one argument pertaining to Goatgirl's post was all about (I'm still uncertain what the stuff about Luis Turcios was about, but I get that the gist [of Jwhop's post] is that Castro weilded significant influence as a Communist).

LOL... yes AG.. I do know how easy it is. But one must also be prepared to defend the argument against Blum and make sure that the site being used is not an Anti-Blum site. LOL...

I spend time getting the information and then formulating another argument in defense of that information just to be prepared

I'm a weirdo...

By the way... had Blum contracted Rabies... and showed symptoms, there would only be one way to know for sure (titers don't provide accurate amounts) Decapitation and subsequent testing of the brain is the only way to determine, without a doubt, that someone or some animal has rabies.

Sad but true... this happened to a dog that bit me at the ER hospital where I worked. I was the third person that the animal bit and they didn't have proof of a rabies vaccine. They had to send the head in for verification - hopefully we'll be able to develop better testing in the future.

AD, I have no idea what communism has to do with either Blum or Chomsky who was also brought into the disagreement. A few pages back in this thread I posted information on both Blum and Chomsky in which they both professed to be Socialists which is different in ideology from Communism. Blum is an admitted Socialist who supports Ralph Nader and the Greenparty and he also supports other independent candidates. Chomsky considers himself to be a Liberation Socialist. Communism has nothing to do with either man.

Maybe the problem is that we have been brainwashed by our government into thinking that the only alternative to Capitalism is Communism. Not true. Many countries have formed very workable governments by combining capitalism and socialism.

Not that I am opposed to capitalism in it's true form and that is certainly not what we have now in the U.S.. What we have now is Crony Capitalism which doesn't even resemble true capitalism. I gave the definition of crony capitalism a few pages back too. Somehow that got lost when some wanted to continue the argument rather than goatgirls original discussion.

I gave up trying to figure out Jwhop a long time ago, AD. I have come to realize that if I say White is White, Jwhop will tell me that I am spreading liberal lies and White is really Black. I accept this and appreciate Jwhop for what he is.

Scratch a socialist hard enough and underneath that mask of socialism you will find a communist in waiting. When their socialist programs fail as they inevitably will fail, you will find socialists tightening their grip on the activities of citizens and business...as is happening in socialist Europe today.

Buried in the woodwork of the EU is an army...several armies of unelected bureaucrats eating away at the substance, freedoms and choices of Europeans in typical communist checkist fashion. Unelected and unaccountable by and to the people of Europe.

Hitler was a socialist. Mussolini was a socialist. Saddam is a socialist. Stalin was a socialist, Mao was a socialist. In fact, the most murderous dictators in the history of the planet were and are socialists.

There is something in the psychological makeup of socialists which makes them desire to totally control others...that's the ultimate outcome of socialism...socialism, the evil twin of communism.

I have read enough of your drivel Mirandee to know you are not now nor have you ever been a free markets capitalist.

Yeah that bit about the head is the only way to test for rabies is true.
The scary thing is the head of the possibly rabid animal must be kept intact for proper testing.
A fellow I knew shot an aniimal that bit him.
Well the bullet messed up the animal's head and the man had to have shots just in case.
Later it was found that the animal had bitten some pets and the pets were carefully killed and their heads tested. Results Positive for rabies. So it was a good thing the man recieved the rabies shots.

I also had to have a wild kitten I caught who had bitten me tested. It was on a watch for early symptoms but died before the quarantine period was over.

Fortunately for me it only had feline Leukemia.

Obviously acoustic, you don't know your history.

Fascist(s) and all it's derviitaves comes from the political party of Benito Mussolini; Benito Mussolini who was a socialist dictator.

Benito Mussolini

BENITO MUSSOLINI, (1883-1945), Fascist dictator of Italy from 1922 to 1943. He centralized all power in himself as the leader (il duce) of the Fascist party and attempted to create an Italian empire, ultimately in alliance with HITLER's Germany. The defeat of Italian arms in WORLD WAR II brought an end to his imperial dream and led to his downfall.

Mussolini was born in Predappio, near Forli, in Romagna, on July 29, 1883. His father, Alessandro, was a blacksmith, and his mother, Rosa, was a schoolteacher. Like his father, Benito became a fervent socialist. He qualified as an elementary schoolmaster in 1901. In 1902 he emigrated to Switzerland. Unable to find a permanent job there and arrested for vagrancy, he was expelled and returned to Italy to do his military service. After further trouble with the police, he joined the staff of a newspaper in the Austrian town of Trento in 1908. At this time he wrote a novel, subsequently translated into English as The Cardinal's Mistress.

Socialist Affiliations

Expelled by the Austrians, he became the editor at Forli of a socialist newspaper, La Lotta di Classe (The Class Struggle ). His early enthusiasm for Karl Marx was modified by a mixture of ideas from the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche, the revolutionary doctrines of Auguste Blanqui, and the syndicalism of Georges Sorel. In 1910, Mussolini became secretary of the local Socialist party at Forli.

At this stage in his life his political views were almost the opposite of what they later became. He boasted of being an "antipatriot. When Italy declared war on Turkey in 1911, he was imprisoned for his pacifist propaganda. Appointed editor of the official Socialist newspaper Avanti, he moved to Milan, where he established himself as the most forceful of all labor leaders of Italian socialism. He believed that the proletariat should unite "in one formidable fascio (bundle), preparatory to seizing power. Some see this as the start of the Fascist movement.

When World War I broke out in 1914, Mussolini agreed with the other Socialists that Italy should not join it. Only a class war was acceptable to him, and he threatened to lead a proletarian revolution if the government decided to fight. But several months later he unexpectedly changed his position on the war, leaving the Socialist party and his editorial chair.

Birth of Fascism

In November 1914 he founded a new paper, Il Popolo d'Italia, and the prowar group Fasci d'Azione Rivoluzionaria. He evidently hoped the war might lead to a collapse of society that would bring him to power. Called up for military service, he was wounded in grenade practice in 1917 and returned to edit his paper.

Fascism became an organized political movement in March 1919 when Mussolini founded the Fasci de Combattimento. After failing in the 1919 elections, Mussolini at last entered parliament in 1921 as a right-wing member. The Fascisti formed armed squads to terrorize Mussolini's former Socialist colleagues. The government seldom interfered. In return for the support of a group of industrialists and agrarians, Mussolini gave his approval to strikebreaking, and he abandoned revolutionary agitation. When the liberal governments of Giovanni Giolitti, Ivanoe Bonomi, and Luigi Facta failed to stop the spread of anarchy, Mussolini was invited by the king in October 1922 to form a government.

Fascist Dictatorship

At first he was supported by the Liberals in parliament. With their help he introduced strict censorship and altered the methods of election so that in 1925-1926 he was able to assume dictatorial powers and dissolve all other political parties. Skillfully using his absolute control over the press, he gradually built up the legend of the "Duce, a man who was always right and could solve all the problems of politics and economics. Italy was soon a police state. With those who tried to resist him, for example the Socialist Giacomo Matteotti, he showed himself utterly ruthless. But Mussolini's skill in propaganda was such that he had surprisingly little opposition.

At various times after 1922, Mussolini personally took over the ministries of the interior, of foreign affairs, of the colonies, of the corporations, of the army and the other armed services, and of public works. Sometimes he held as many as seven departments simultaneously, as well as the premiership. He was also head of the all-powerful Fascist party (formed in 1921) and the armed Fascist militia. In this way he succeeded in keeping power in his own hands and preventing the emergence of any rival. But it was at the price of creating a regime that was overcentralized, inefficient, and corrupt.

Most of his time was spent on propaganda, whether at home or abroad, and here his training as a journalist was invaluable. Press, radio, education, films--all were carefully supervised to manufacture the illusion that fascism was "the doctrine of the 20th century that was replacing liberalism and democracy. The principles of this doctrine were laid down in the article on fascism, reputedly written by himself, that appeared in 1932 in the Enciclopedia Italiana. In 1929 a concordat with the Vatican was signed, by which the Italian state was at last recognized by the Roman Catholic Church.

Under the dictatorship the parliamentary system was virtually abolished. The law codes were rewritten. All teachers in schools and universities had to swear an oath to defend the Fascist regime. Newspaper editors were all personally chosen by Mussolini himself, and no one could practice journalism who did not possess a certificate of approval from the Fascist party. The trade unions were also deprived of any independence and were integrated into what was called the "corporative system. The aim (never completely achieved) was to place all Italians in various professional organizations or "corporations, all of them under governmental control.

Mussolini played up to his financial backers at first by transferring a number of industries from public to private ownership. But by the 1930's he had begun moving back to the opposite extreme of rigid governmental control of industry. A great deal of money was spent on public works. But the economy suffered from his exaggerated attempt to make Italy self-sufficient. There was too much concentration on heavy industry, for which Italy lacked the resources.

Military Aggression

In foreign policy, Mussolini soon shifted from pacifist anti-imperialism to an extreme form of aggressive nationalism. An early example of this was his bombardment of Corfu in 1923. Soon after this he succeeded in setting up a puppet regime in Albania and in reconquering Libya. It was his dream to make the Mediterranean "mare nostrum ("our sea). In 1935, at the Stresa Conference, he helped create an anti-Hitler front in order to defend the independence of Austria. But his successful war against Abyssinia (Ethiopia) in 1935-1936 was opposed by the League of Nations, and he was forced to seek an alliance with Nazi Germany, which had withdrawn from the League in 1933. His active intervention in 1936-1939 on the side of Gen. Francisco Franco in the Spanish Civil War ended any possibility of reconciliation with France and Britain. As a result, he had to accept the German annexation of Austria in 1938 and the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia in 1939. At the Munich Conference in September 1938 he posed as a moderate working for European peace. But his "axis with Germany was confirmed when he made the Pact of Steel with Hitler in May 1939. Clearly the subordinate partner, Mussolini followed the Nazis in adopting a racial policy that led to persecution of the Jews and the creation of apartheid in the Italian empire.

As World War II approached, Mussolini announced his intention of annexing Malta, Corsica, and Tunis. In April 1939, after a brief war, he occupied Albania. Failing to realize that he had more to gain by trying to hold the balance of power in Europe, he preferred to rely on a policy of bluff and bluster to induce the Western democracies to give way to his increasing territorial demands. Although he had preached for 15 years about the virtues of war and the military readiness of Italy to fight, his armed forces were completely unprepared when Hitler's invasion of Poland led to World War II. He decided to remain "nonbelligerent until he was quite certain which side would win. Only after the fall of France did he declare war in June 1940, hoping that the war had only a few weeks more to run. His attack on Greece in October revealed to everyone that he had done nothing to prepare an effective military machine. He had no option but to follow Hitler in declaring war on Russia in June 1941 and on the United States in December 1941.

Following Italian defeats on all fronts and the Anglo-American landing in Sicily in 1943, most of Mussolini's colleagues turned against him at a meeting of the Fascist Grand Council on July 25, 1943. This enabled the king to dismiss and arrest him.

Rescued by the Germans several months later, Mussolini set up a Republican Fascist state in northern Italy. But he was little more than a puppet under the protection of the German Army. In this "Republic of Salo, Mussolini returned to his earlier ideas of socialism and collectivization. He also executed some of the Fascist leaders who had abandoned him, including his son-in-law, Galeazzo Ciano. Increasingly he tried to shift the blame for defeat onto the Italian people, who had not been great enough to appreciate his imperial dream. In April 1945, just before the Allied armies reached Milan, Mussolini, along with his mistress Clara Petacci, was caught by Italian partisans as he tried to take refuge in Switzerland. He was summarily executed.

The Duce was survived by his wife, Rachele, by two sons, Vittorio and Romano, and his daughter Edda, the widow of Count Ciano. A third son, Bruno, had been killed in an air accident.

The 14 points that make a Fascist nation. The U.S. under Bush's leadership meet all 14 points:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism -- Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights -- Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to 'look the other way' or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause -- The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military -- Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism -- The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and antigay legislation and national policy.

6. Controlled Mass Media -- Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or through sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in wartime, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security -- Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined -- Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected -- The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed -- Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts -- Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment -- Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses, and even forego civil liberties, in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. (My note: aka Homeland Security )

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption -- Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions, and who use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections -- Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against (or even the assassination of) opposition candidates, the use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and the manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Fayte,

When I was a kid a friend of mine got bitten by a squirrel and because all brown squirrels look alike he had to get a series of rabie shots. Those are no fun. Unless they have changed the procedure, he had to get about 10 shots in the abdomen and he said they hurt very badly.

He didn't learn his lesson though because he grew up to be a pig farmer and there is nothing meaner than pigs.

from jwhops article ....

******

But several months later he unexpectedly changed his position on the war, leaving the Socialist party and his editorial chair.

In November 1914 he founded a new paper, Il Popolo d'Italia, and the prowar group Fasci d'Azione Rivoluzionaria.

Newspaper editors were all personally chosen by Mussolini himself, and no one could practice journalism who did not possess a certificate of approval from the Fascist party. The trade unions were also deprived of any independence and were integrated into what was called the "corporative system. The aim was to place all Italians in various professional organizations or "corporations, all of them under governmental control.

Clearly the subordinate partner, Mussolini followed the Nazis in adopting a racial policy that led to persecution of the Jews and the creation of apartheid in the Italian empire.

Rescued by the Germans several months later, Mussolini set up a Republican Fascist state in northern Italy
Increasingly he tried to shift the blame for defeat onto the Italian people, who had not been great enough to appreciate his imperial dream.

In a word Mirandee you are full-of-it and I'm not talking about intellect.

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism -- Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
There are no slogans, excessive flags, government symbols, patrotic songs or displays on clothing associated with the government...full-of-it

In spite of your blather, bombast, bullsh*t and lies, there has been no loss of human rights associated with the Bush administration. Those individuals who were guilty of abuse were tried and punished by the same government and nation..ours, for which you show such distain...full-of-it

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause -- The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
Anyone who doesn't recognize a group or a country which attacks the US for 10 years as an enemy group or nation is a brain dead moron of the first order...full-of-it

4. Supremacy of the Military -- Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
If Commander Corruption hadn't depleted the military and intelligence budgets all through his rotten corrupt Presidency, we wouldn't have needed to ramp up military spending to deal with terrorist threats. Commander Corruption cut the military forces almost 40% at a time America was under direct attack at home and abroad. The US couldn't even mount an attack on the Taliban and al-Qaeda until military stocks were produced and entered into the system. The brain dead Carter pulled the same stunt. ..full-of-it

5. Rampant Sexism -- The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and antigay legislation and national policy.
Those women walking around the White House...including cabinet officers and other appointees and White House staff must be figments of everyone's imagination. Department of the Interior Deputy Secretary Lynn Scarlett, Department of Labor, Secretary Elaine Chao, Department of Education , Secretary Margaret Spellings, Department of State , Secretary Condoleezza Rice...to name a few of those very powerful women in the Bush administration...full-of-it

6. Controlled Mass Media -- Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or through sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in wartime, is very common.
You must be talking about the government controlled news media which has been on a jihad against Bush since he became Governor of Texas and never misses an opportunity to insult, slander, libel and lie about the President and every action he takes...or doesn't take...full-of-it

7. Obsession with National Security -- Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
When an enemy attacks the nation's homeland..twice, that tends to focus one's mind on the security of the nation and the American people...not to mention attacks on embassies which occurred under Commander Corruption...with impunity and no response...full-of-it

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined -- Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
There is no common religion in America, none is proposed or supported by the Bush administration....full-of-it

9. Corporate Power is Protected -- The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
Corporate cheats and criminals who florished under Commander Corruption are either in jail, on trial or awaiting trial...by the Bush Justice Department...full-of-it

10. Labor Power is Suppressed -- Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely or are severely suppressed.
Labor Unions are not under attack by the Bush Administration. If they are under attack at all it's attack by their members who see them as useless, expensive, not in step with their memberships and perhaps a criminal enterprise operated for their own benefit and political purposes....full-of-it

No university professors, no artists and no one from the leftist dominated artsy culture have been censored, attacked or jailed by the Bush administration...full-of-it

Criminals choose their own paths. If that path leads to crime then punishment...arrest, prosecution, conviction and incarceration are the duties of any government. Not only of the federal government but state governments as well. Anyone who believes criminals and criminal activity should be ignored and believe those who prey on honest citizens must be tolerated by a free society are brain dead morons....full-of-it

You've floated this lie before Mirandee...that Bush is a thief who stole from the American people. I've asked you before to prove it and you went silent on the proof. America deserves the best people in leadership positions in the government; brain dead morons and bureaucrats need not apply nor should they be accepted. There is no substitute for experience in the real world where most Americans live...except for the brain dead leftists who live in their own little dream world....full-of-it

I've heard this charge of stolen elections going back to 2000. It's been thoroughly investigated and debunked...first by numerous recounts and later by a consortium of news media who poured over the ballots and had to conclude...much to their chagrin that Bush won. Yet Mirandee, here you are, still repeating the lie like the good little leftist you are....full-of-it

Mirandee,

The procedure has changed drastically. No more of the 10 shots in the abodmen:

"In the United States, PEP consists of a regimen of one dose of immune globulin and five doses of rabies vaccine over a 28-day period. Rabies immune globulin and the first dose of rabies vaccine should be given as soon as possible after exposure. Additional doses of rabies vaccine should be given on days 3, 7, 14, and 28 after the first vaccination. Current vaccines are relatively painless and are given in your arm, like a flu or tetanus vaccine."

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/rabies/prevention&control/preventi.htm

The DFA (direct florescent AB test) Rabies test can ONLY be done on POST-MORTEM (dead animal /human). In living human you have to do a series of tests which are not 100% conclusive- so treatment is necessary.

One of the most underreported stories of the 20th century is the strong ties American industry had with the Nazis.
Amongst others, Coca-cola created it's Fanta orange to sell to the Nazis and and IBM supplied the punchcards which were used to orchestrate the roundup of the Jews, homosexuals, leftists and Communists into the concentration camps..
Here's a picture of of the head of IBM meeting with Hitler even.

Thomas Jefferson to George Logan, 1816: "I hope we shall... crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country."

"According to Business Week, the average CEO [Chief Executive Officer] made 42 times the average blue-collar worker's pay in 1980, 85 times in 1990 and a staggering 531 times in 2000."
-- AFL-CIO "Executive Paywatch"

To know Noam Chomsky is to love him. So say all the leftist radicals bent on the destruction of the United States and Israel.

Noam Chomsky's Love Affair with Nazis
By David Horowitz and Jacob Laksin
FrontPageMagazine.com | May 15, 2006

Rarely has the world been afforded such a clear glimpse into the unholy alliance between Islamic extremists and secular radicals in the West. That’s exactly what it got last week when the foremost Imam of the radical Left, Noam Chomsky, bestowed his blessings on the world’s largest terrorist army, the Shiite jihad outfit sponsored by Iran and known as Hezbollah (“Party of God.”)

Following a meeting with Hassan Nasrallah, the Lebanese terrorist group’s “secretary general,” Chomsky announced his support for Hezbollah’s refusal to disarm. Then, in an echo of Nasrallah’s recent declaration that President Bush is the world’s top “terrorist,” Chomsky pronounced his own fatwa on the United States, calling it one of the “leading terrorist states.” It was a meeting of murderous radical minds.

In many ways, Chomsky’s newly forged friendship with Hezbollah -- the most recent entry in a lifetime befriending America’s most deadly enemies -- is the logical continuation of the professor’s longstanding admiration for global terrorists and Jew-haters. In fact, Chomsky devoted most of the nineties to touting Hezbollah as a “resistance” movement (which occasionally committed misguided acts against civilians) while singing its praises as a crusader for peace and social justice.

Typical was Chomsky’s 1996 book, World Orders Old and New. Citing with approval a journalist’s observation that Hezbollah “is not a terror organization,” Chomsky explained that the terrorist who blew up 243 U.S. Marines in Lebanon and murdered untold citizens of Israel was only engaging in “legitimate resistance” against an oppressor and “avoids striking civilians except in retaliation for Israeli attacks on Lebanese civilians.”

Elsewhere in his book Chomsky claims that, in launching its attacks against Israel, Hezbollah “carefully avoided civilian areas” and assured his readers that Hezbollah attacks were always “retaliatory.” Israel through Chomsky's eyes presented quite a different story. Dispensing altogether with the studied euphemisms that marked his descriptions of Hezbollah, Chomsky unequivocally denounced Israel for using “terror weapons” to commit “atrocities” such as targeting “civilians” with “no provocation”.

The resulting effort bore little resemblance to fact. Rather than consider well-documented reports of Hezbollah’s repeated shelling (at its Iranian masters' prompting) of Northern Israel, killing women and children in the process, Chomsky rejected the reports as so much American and Israeli propaganda. How after all, could the Great and Little Satans be telling the truth?

Rather than reflect on the fact that Hezbollah terrorists deliberately entrenched themselves among Arab civilians to cause the casualties so that Chomsky could protest, Chomsky falsely charged that the Israeli military targeted the civilians, a claim which no reasonable human being could make. Even the anti-Israel UN felt compelled to acknowledge that “Hezbollah had resorted to using civilian areas to provide a human shield for its terrorist activity.”

In Chomsky’s version of the Elders of Zion, Israel is always the instigator, while the attacks of terrorists, whose declared objective is the establishment of an Islamic state on Israel’s grave, are invariably “defensive.” Chomsky blames an upsurge in Hezbollah terror, for example, on Israel’s 1992 assassination, of Hezbollah leader (and mass murderer) Sheikh Abbas Mussawi. Yet Chomsky neglected to mention that Mussawi, speaking on behalf of Hezbollah, openly proclaimed his genocidal goal: “We are not fighting so that the enemy recognizes us and offers us something. We are fighting to wipe out the enemy.”

In Chomsky’s writings about Hitler’s heirs, the genocidal roles are always reversed. When Hezbollah broke an informal 1995 agreement to suspend attacks against civilian targets, Chomsky condemned Israeli military strikes, again omitting the fact that the complete annihilation of the Jewish state was Hezbollah’s stated goal.

In his 2000 book Fateful Triangle, Chomsky complained about media coverage that described Hezbollah’s shelling of the so-called Israeli “security zone” in Southern Lebanon as “terrorism.” Chomsky insisted that it was instead an act of “indigenous resistance to the rule of Israel and its proxies.” As usual, Chomsky was lying. Hezbollah’s attacks were against civilians inside the security zone not military targets. In a typical projection, Chomsky maintained in the face of the facts that it was Israel who was killing civilians, and (another lie) that Israel’s official policy was to attack “villages and civilians” in Lebanon.

Today, as its Iranian patron calls on the Muslim world to exterminate the Jews and finish Hitler’s job, Hezbollah is blessed by the embassy of America’s most prominent leftist, and better still, a self-hating Jew. While the international community and even the United Nations (whose resolutions Chomsky has repeatedly used as a sledge hammer against Israel), demands that the terrorist Party of God – which is an occupying army in Lebanon -- lay down its weapons, Chomsky provides the occupiers with a moral defense. According to Professor Chomsky there is a “persuasive argument” that the weapons “should be in the hands of Hezbollah as a deterrent to potential aggression and there is plenty of background and reasons for that.” (Many Lebanese are not persuaded. Commenting on Chomsky’s visit, a Lebanese observer pointed to the professor’s ignorance of the fact “that the Hezbollah arms scare the Lebanese people more than the Israelis.")

In fact, of course, the only “potential aggression” comes from Chomsky’s friends. In 2004, Hezbollah inked an agreement with Hamas – similarly dedicated to the extermination of Israel -- to continue their joint terrorist attacks against Israel. Hezbollah has also provided political support and weapons training to Hamas and al-Qaeda. In 2004, Hezbollah also launched an unmanned aerial vehicle that crossed Israeli airspace before crashing.

Hitler concealed his genocidal agendas from the German people and from his Chomsky-apologists. Hezbollah is more fortunate. In pursuing a second Holocaust of the Jews, it can count on Muslim support and apparently the support of American radicals as well. Therefore it makes no secret of what it intends. Its 1985 manifesto contains a section titled “The Necessity for the Destruction of Israel” that spells out the evil it seeks: “Our struggle will end only when this entity is obliterated. We recognize no treaty with it, no cease-fire, no peace agreements.” Like true jihadists, Hezbollah’s genocidal plans are not reserved for the Little Satan only but are its agenda for the Great Satan too. In 1993, Chomsky’s host Nasrallah declared: “Death to America was, is, and will stay our slogan.”

As his pilgrimage to Hezbollah’s mecca confirms, it is Noam Chomsky’s life-dream as well.

I think you mean NORTH America. Not America. Otherwise you'd be including South and Central America.

Me hating what my own corrupt government has nothing to do with the country.
It's a continent. As if I should blame it.

*Rolls eyes at idiot.

I was after all born and raised here.

You think you are a White/Confederate American. You swear that your roots go back to those days.

Your roots are that of a white/European settler. Who sailed here from another continent. Just like everyone else. Besides the Native Americans and Mexican tribes that lived here and were murderered and had their land taken from them......By a white\European settler of course.

I know it hurts you to think about it. But Sorry. You are not American. You are a European American.

Sorry, but if you want to get technical TP, then I claim the United States for Caucasians the ancestor of whom was found in the US northwest and whose remains tested to be 9,000 years old. Before the ancestors of American Indians, before the ancestors of Mexicans.

Only you and those who are not philosophically Americans use a dual nationality in their names for their nationality.

I'm just an American. Too bad you don't see yourself that way...and believe me, it shows.

Yep.... MG is off her medication again!!!

Keep up the little slurs missy and your a$$ is going back to banned land. You are back to using "small town hick" and using "white" in a derogatory manner. You've been warned about this before.

First off, read your damn history books and get a grip on real life. All you offer are muddled sentences that normally result when your prosac or bi-polar meds wear off (yes, I am saying you have a mental disorder, but I as you can see I have not said anything racially or gender specific towards you )

Secondly, instead of just posting some inane insult, why don't you post something with teeth? Are you devoid of rational thought and can't put words together to form an argument that might actually include facts of even a well conceived opinion?

jwhop,

GREAT article!! Seriously, I think for all the conspiracy theorists that try to connect Bush to Nazi's should take a look at their own "Idols".

My question is 'Why is it okay for Hezbollah and others to declare war against us (before we even went into their countries) and call for the extermination of jews yet the far left is angry for us going to war for a reason (9/11) and to liberate a country from a tryant?'

Basically, people that support Chomsky also support the extermination of various races (including just being an American and living here), they support the unjustified declaration of war based on hating the ideology of another and the destruction of our own system.

That doesn't make any sense.

Oh yes, and Chomsky proved the point I made in the first place about taking facts from history, running in through ones own filter and then writing a book about how one sees the war / result of a war. Chomsky and Blum have alot in common...

Hmmm.... if not Rabies, how about Mad Cow?
