BUD, we aren't fighting sweets Lol! Just a little comedy faceoff.

Offcourse, Jwhop and I (well I anyway, I can't speak for him) will certainly stop if its bothering everyone.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make with that quip about Jwhop and HSC was simple; Why place anymore importance on Naomi Campbell and her being arrested for spitting then any other person? Just because he antics are only further justified by the masses who love to read up on her little outbreaks?

Xodian, how about if I just give you 50% of what I'm giving HSC? Would that satisfy you?

These stories are 90% fabricated, 90% of the time.

Thats what pop-culture journalists do.

And some of you eat it right up, and swallow it whole.

I'm not saying she's poor and misunderstood,
but, even if ms. campbell is insufferable,
it is a bit much to call her "worthless", no?

i get called "worthless" all the time, mainly for the surprisingly, but highly unpopular, decision to homeschool my son -- not a paying job. though it is s a very big undertaking, tremendous to be honest. of course, if i were to dump him off into a stranger's hands, that person would be getting paid for taking care of him. the difference is lost on me. i got slammed the other day because someone i know "had to go to work", implying that i didn't. her job? minding a child for a few hours, lol.

that's all beside the point though. Naomi Campbell is very outspoken about race inequalities. i'm sure that makes her very less than worthless in lots of people's opinions...and there is great bias against her...probably triggering much of her anger. of course she would do well to practice yoga or something to help transform that anger...but she probably gets pushed to the breaking point quite often.

it must be fun to find legitimate instances for condemning those uppity black people who don't know their places, lol.

but back to my original point. she's most likely very well acquainted with the attitudes toward her of being "worthless". and i'm sure she couldn't care less.

an illustration of how racist harrassment is designed to make people lose control ~

In multiple-party harassment, the offending actions of any one individual can became more and more subtle and difficult to name as specific incidents. Every one specific action is part of a coordinated whole.

The African-American high school student who goes to a racist all-white school might experience it this way: four students position themselves at points in the student's classroom route, each one uttering a syllable. One says, FUH, second says KING, next one says NI, next one says GRRR. Put together, these syllables say something very hurtful and destructive to that student.

In multiple-party harassment, the four may switch syllables, or they may have 40 white students taking turns each day saying these syllables over a two-week period. There is little that a principal or other investigator can do to discipline these students unless he is able to break the conspiracy, which may not happen. What is more likely is that it is the targeted student who will experience being disciplined - it is the targeted student who will lose control at some point, and unfortunately, that is the point that disciplinary action can be taken.

Let's say after three months of FU-KING-NI-GRRR he can't take it any longer and shoves the second guy. The principal asks him, "What is it that he said that upset you so?" The student tells him. The principal says, "Wait - You're telling me you shoved him because he called you King???" The student tells him "No, no, there is more to it than that." The principal tells the student he has anger issues, is imagining things, and the student, who has endured three months of multiple-party racial slurs with no recourse, is then given detention or other disciplinary action on top of it for not being able to handle his anger.

So the injustice here is that a victim of racial hatred then becomes a victim of the inability to understand why this multi-party harassment was able to make him lose control.

Here is another example. Imagine a female college student who has been raped by a really popular male student. The male student wore a purple shirt on the night of their "date." When the victim files charges, a lot of students express their support for the popular male by wearing purple shirts. They position themselves wherever she goes, by wearing the purple shirt. As a victim of a psychological trauma, the symbolism is not lost on her, and each time a purple-shirted student blocks her way or sits in front of her or follow her into the restroom she is reminded of her humiliation and violation. If it continues, she will either drop out or psychologically collapse. This is the power that the symbol has over her.

Zanya, you do make valid points about racism, but the validty of that point ends just at that. Naomi has no right to act in a destructive manner that contitues as assault and battery since the law is pretty clear about the concequences of such actions. You can't dimish the charges after the fact that she did take anger management classes and that she should be more in control of herself. She is 31 and she should know better.

Yeah, everyone's just pickin on poor little Naomi.

Let's see, she's beat up an assistant on a movie set. Got off scott free on that one.

She's thrown a cell phone at her maid. Got caught that time but went unpunished for assault...which she should have been charged with.

Now, she's thrown a fit at an airport and spit on or at a police officer.

Must all be because she's black...which btw, I didn't know..staying away as I do from pop culture and their usual moronic antics.

Can't see anyone defending this kind of out of control behavior...as though this is just typical...or should be typical black behavior because they live in racist America or white European cultures.

Shades of Rev Wright...except
Wright didn't hit anyone. He just turned his mouth on without first engaging his brain.

**edit
BTW, I'm all for home schooling in a country where public schools for the most part don't rise to the level of good babysitting.

i'm sure the backlash will be that her actions, that prompted this discussion were her mistreatment of a police officer.

but other celebrities who have anger issues don't warrant their own threads here of dissent...such as Russell Crowe's continual assaults...or Mel Gibson...

why didn't Mel Gibson get his own thread of dissent when he mistreated police officers (plural)?

why was he treated with kid gloves, and his words not even recorded in the official report?

quote:
The actor began swearing uncontrollably. Gibson repeatedly said, "My life is f****d." Law enforcement sources say the deputy, worried that Gibson might become violent, told the actor that he was supposed to cuff him but would not, as long as Gibson cooperated. As the two stood next to the hood of the patrol car, the deputy asked Gibson to get inside. Deputy Mee then walked over to the passenger door and opened it. The report says Gibson then said, "I'm not going to get in your car," and bolted to his car. The deputy quickly subdued Gibson, cuffed him and put him inside the patrol car.

TMZ has learned that Deputy Mee audiotaped the entire exchange between himself and Gibson, from the time of the traffic stop to the time Gibson was put in the patrol car, and that the tape fully corroborates the written report.

Once inside the car, a source directly connected with the case says Gibson began banging himself against the seat. The report says Gibson told the deputy, "You mother f****r. I'm going to f*** you." The report also says "Gibson almost continually [sic] threatened me saying he 'owns Malibu' and will spend all of his money to 'get even' with me."

The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"

The deputy became alarmed as Gibson's tirade escalated, and called ahead for a sergeant to meet them when they arrived at the station. When they arrived, a sergeant began videotaping Gibson, who noticed the camera and then said, "What the f*** do you think you're doing?"

A law enforcement source says Gibson then noticed another female sergeant and yelled, "What do you think you're looking at, sugar **** ?"

of course, they both have the backing of white supremacist groups too.

I think I remember a Mel Gibson thread on this forum.

If not, it's unreasonable and unacceptable behavior no matter who is involved.

I remember when Zsa Zsa Gabor slapped a Beverly Hills Police officer. Made all the papers. Same attitude.

i don't recall a Mel Gibson thread. would like to see that one.

however, i don't recall either any other celebrities' misdeeds, esp those who are unprovoked, being discussed here with such derision and glee.

interesting also, how the provokers and law breakers in the Jena Six situation got no reprimand or disapproval for their actions, here or elsewhere, least of all the judicial system.

But that's the thing Zanya; I don't know about others but I personally wouldn't care to bring Celebrity misdeeds onto a political forum unless somehow their misdeeds happens to effect the lives of many in a direct or indirect way.

If we are to discuss about how Celeb misdeeds happen to create wrongful examples for children and how they seem to get away with little or no punishment in relation to their crimes, then by all means we can discuss that as topics but personally, as I stated in my previous posts, Gossip headlines aren't something I am interested in since it only provokes the idea that sleeze sells (which unfortunately, it does.)

also, i didn't condone Naomi's behavior. i did say that she perhaps would find yoga classes helpful in her efforts though. maybe meditation as well.

i was re-iterating HSC's point, that often there is much more to the situation than is reported.

in Naomi's case, most likely due to her public outspokenness in matters of race inequality, and pointed out that there exist very sophisticated techniques for pushing people to the breaking point and provoking their anger, often for the mere offense of skin color. things done that most people here probably would have difficulty imagining, much less encountering.

we are so quick to judge, are we not, esp when the opportunity involves race and controversy.

What is for certain however is that I would seriously pay good money to see Jwhop and HSC make out in public.

Think about it...

Not only will this titilating homoerotic senerio will interest quite a lot of knowflakes but it would be a great example on how polar opposites can entice a moment of passionate expression .

i'm sure that makes her very less than worthless in lots of people's opinions...

In their opinion...to each their own...and while i did in fact misspeak in calling her worthless, the words that I do wish to apply to her are inappropriate for LL because I have no tolerance for spoiled brats who give very little and ask for a lot...and her work and the good things she does are completely overlooked because of her attitude...and how can you ever believe someone calling for equality when they throw appliances at their maids...

quote:
but back to my original point. she's most likely very well acquainted with the attitudes toward her of being "worthless". and i'm sure she couldn't care less.

Thus all is well...

Almost as fun as it is pushing your own agenda which has nothing to do with what was stated? Saying that Naomi is condemned because she of her race is in my opinion quite pretentious... I promise you if Paris Hilton attacked people for not getting her royal highness' bags on time or if Britney Spears threw her appliances at her maids they would be just as condemned...not that they aren't anyways....

You have got to be kidding me! Her maid certainly wasn't being racist against her when she went psycho and attacked her...and that wasn't the first time...

quote:
magine a female college student who has been raped by a really popular male student. The male student wore a purple shirt on the night of their "date."

Are you seriously comparing Naomi Cambell to the trauma of someone who was raped???? She is a rich spoiled princess who thinks that just because she is a gorgeous and popular model that excuses her and makes her above the law....HOW MANY HOLLYWOOD STARS DO THE SAME? Paris Hilton thinks shes above the law, Britney Spears and many many more...I am sure Naomi's maid is more psychologically scarred than her royal highness ever was...

quote:
Zanya, you do make valid points about racism, but the validty of that point ends just at that. Thank you! This kind of stuff infuriates me! I have experienced so much racism in my childhood and you know what I am not assaulting anyone! 2 months ago a friend of mine was attacked at knife point for being Jewish and you know what? He isn't assaulting anyone! Neither is my bf and ex bf who face pretty heavy anti Muslim sentiments pretty often...And you know what? Being an immigrant in the U.S. (or anywhere for that matter) isn't that easy...So maybe everyone should go nuts and attack everything they see because their life is hard...Give me a break...Racism is a SERIOUS SERIOUS problem and when people excuse behavior such as Naomi's by saying they experienced racism, it takes away from people who REALLY experience it. What about the teacher of Columbia University on whose door a noose was hung? Should she attack people? And I am pretty sure her experiences are a whole lot more traumatic than Naomi's...

Yea seriously!

Those discussions were covered repeatedly, mostly in the Free For All forum...Mannu was told that this is probably not the best forum to post this particular topic...but regardless of all that we can discuss whoever we want! There were countless threads on Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton! I find it ridiculous that you choose to scream racism just because someone feels the need to state how disagreeable they find her behavior...

Ermmm as much as I hate Mel Gibson, he was certainly not treated with kid gloves...when was the last time you have seen him in a movie after that incident? He is laying low because everyone hates him now...Naomi had more than enough chances..

Believe me everyone had their day here...

Well you should have started a thread on that...people discuss what they want to...what makes you think you can tell people what to care about? If you have such a problem with the situation start your own threads on issues you think are important and have people discuss that but don't call anyone racist because they choose to discuss Naomi instead of Mel...This was a current event...

quote:
i did say that she perhaps would find yoga classes helpful in her efforts though. maybe meditation as well.

Or perhaps she could go and serve jail time like everyone else who assaults others and not get off scott free because she is a celebrity...

quote:
i was re-iterating HSC's point, that often there is much more to the situation than is reported.

And other times it just is what it is...a rich brat who let stardom go to her head and now she thinks she is better than everyone.

quote:

Somehow I doubt she is more outspoken than Oprah or Tyra Banks...and yet they aren't assaulting anyone...and you still failed to point out which buttons did her poor maid push? Was she being racist towards her? If she was Naomi could have 1) fired her 2) sued her and not attacked her...

Pardon me but how did I attack your prerogative? If I remember correctly you took a quote of mine, where I called her worthless and then said "
quote:

So basically you responded to my opinion, no? Don't I have the same right? I didn't insult you or say anything bad. Just like you I am merely stating my opinion.
