quote:
Celebrate Festivus!
What do you think, Melody? If you're not sure which holidays to celebrate - or if you're simply looking to add one to your already festive calendar, today is Festivus! It may be just what you need at the peak of the season! An annual celebration popularized by the sitcom Seinfeld, Festivus was originally created by a Reader's Digest writer in response to the commercialization of Christmas. Activities include not only a Festivus dinner (with plenty of booze) but also "the airing of the grievances" wherein everyone gets to tell everyone else what they've done to annoy them all year! Of course you generally want to air those grievances solely to yourself, but now you can do so without guilt - in the spirit of the season!

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've brought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way;
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother's child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you

I can't say anything more than 26taurus has already said, or so beautifully.

You are magical, Melody.

You turn the cold into Jack Frost, nipping at my nose.

Merry Merry.

Yes, she is! I hope this isnt inappropriate. But I am completely enamored with one of my gifts from Ms. Melody. An Infinity necklace that is so 'me' (a double 8). I just have to show it off.

the picture doesnt really pick up the gorgeous iridescenseness of it.

You are SO beautiful, T. Like a real fairy.
Oh Steve, you are wonderful.
I don't know how I could love either of you any more but I'm sure I will. I thank God for Rosie and both of you. It is the peace and joy of my life to know you exist. I would feel so alone otherwise. Thank you for your love.

(Grateful to Randall again... hehe)

I feel a little more Christmasy now. <3
God bless us, everyone. <3

Mel,

I watched "White Christmas" a few nights ago and thought of you and this thread... What a wonderful movie! It's what finally got my Grinch out and brought me to the X-mas spirit!!

You're such a doll!

And as two of my other fave LL'ers have told you, you are magic!!

I'm just dropping in, because I'm watching It's a Wonderful Life, right now, and remembered this thread (I'd planned on taking a break, until some time next year).

It doesn't bother me what other people think about Christmas (unless they try to ruin it for me), but this blog post came to mind, after I read a thread in LLC2, the other night:

http://meggenge.blogspot.com/2007/12/my-christmas-rant.html

I mentioned a handful of things that I love about Christmas, but this is it, in a nutshell:

"When you watch nothing but Christmas specials for 20 days you begin to see a bit of a pattern. Whether it is The Grinch who Stole Christmas (the original one!) or Frosty the Snowman or The Year Without a Santa Claus or Rudolph or any of the nine million other Christmas specials that are on, the message is exactly the same. The point of Christmas is to be nice to each other. To love each other. To believe in magic. And most of all, the point of Christmas is to "keep Christmas in your heart" for the the rest of the year. KEEP believing in magic. KEEP being nice to each other. Believe in love."

Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays
