love
I adore things like this... finding lots of great sites on FB lately. It always killed me not having SOMETHING to do with t.p. and paper towel and wrapping paper rolls. Rose is going to love.

I just saw this elsewhere:

quote:
Before you try to tell anyone what art is, go to school for it for at least four years. If you can't do that, at least go to your library and study up A LOT and then pick up a paint brush and buy tons of materials and try to do what people who are serious into this business are doing. It's soul sucking, backbreaking, no rewards....but they do it because it's in them. I guarentee you will gain a greater appreciation and understanding of what artists everywhere go through and are struggling to do. The modern world does not appreciate artist in any form any more. We struggle more than any average person realizes.

There is no appreciation for these people. Is a cryin' shame too.

It's terrible and I plan on doing something about it. In my own community anyway.

'Cause i'm p****** about it.

and I've tried to tell people the same thing! Most of my paintings weren't very good, but they took a lot out of me. I would find that my whole body was tense as I focused, and every single muscle would be *exhausted* afterwards. I would be thirsty and starving, so I would get so far and then run to the kitchen, then just crawl into bed exhausted. And that didn't even produce something worthy of being put up in a gallery.

All sorts of jokes out there about artists, and I've laughed them off in the past, but sometimes it really gets to me, too.

Thanks teasel. I almost missed this. I havent checked in here since Sunday. I needed a break and couldnt even lurk because certain people here annoy the crap out of me and I can't stand to read their words. I will be done here soon, permanently and won't be clicking on the site again. I came back because I figured there would be a birthday thread for me, so I came back to say 'thanks' and browsed around a bit.

Yeah, I know you get it. Unless someone throws the themself deep into it they could never understand how much goes into it and how much energy it takes. If it's not painful, it's probably not good art. Or it's just a fun hobby for someone.

Same here with getting exhausted, not eating or drinking and working entire day on something. I'm exhausted all the time because it's all i focus on and spend most of my time doing.

Anyway, lots to say on the subject, but I won't because I don't like most people here and don't want to share my innermost thoughts with people I don't like (thread lurker members) here anymore.

Yeah, email me!

I have a list of things to cut out of my life permanently during this eclipse time. I notice it's been the best time astrologically to do so. snip, snip

So annoyed with myself that I haven't been able to get to this project!! Maybe now that I'm on the proper meds (woo hoo for pneumonia!!) I can get some energy back and finish these things!!!

I have been spending a lot of time on Etsy lately though. Gives me cool ideas (that I'll never have time for anyway LOL)

Hope your projects are going well!

omg, i so hear you. BTW a good all natural antibiotic to have on hand is Grapefruit seed Extract (not grapeseed extract), but it supposedly works better than regular prescribed antibiotics w/o side effects. You will still need to replenish healthy bacteria through yogurt or acidophilos pills. It's powerfull stuff, but not harmful. Maybe next time you go to the natural foods store pick some up. You can put a few drops in water or juice or even diluted on a cut to ensure it won't get infected. It's also an immune booster.

Hope you start to feel better soon. I'm pooped atm. In the middle of a couple of projects. Maybe I'll post some pics here soon. I know what you mean about getting frustrated with self and not feeling like there is enough time in a day. I do not know where the time goes. Seems it's going by to quickly though. I've also been dealing with a health problem that's slowing me down. So that is frustrating.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with when you get to it.

Oh yes, and Etsy is sooo inspiring!!! I check in there daily and it helps get me motivated when I'm feeling down.

People are doing some amazing things out there!

Great place to go to get oneself inspired or revved up again!

So many ideas begin to spiral off of the things I see. Nice to see so many artists still alive and kicking and 'making it' out there.

I'm sorry you've been having health issues. It really does take it's toll on energy levels. I am a GO GO GO person, so when I can't muster energy, I know there's something wrong. I hope you get through it soon!

Time is absolutely FLYING by for me these days. In a good way, finally being spent in happy times. Daily troubles, but nothing that can't be dealt with.

I also picked up an old shutter that I have some ideas on. It's almost the color of oxidized copper, many layers of paint that sort of make it special. I think it will be a shelf backing, I have a really large wall in my living room that I want to display smaller pieces on. There is an embroidered tapestry hanging there now, which I LOVE, but I want to put it in my stairwell. Less likely to be touched by little hands LOL.

We will see. I am already starting to feel more energy (3rd day of meds) and I am ITCHING to rock some sh!t out!

Thanks for the advice on the natural remedies. I have been slacking with that lately...

with a tight white tank, jeans, heels or even flats and lots of silver jewelry, i think it would work well. Keeping most of the outfit simple and letting the scarf take the stage.

Could be dressy or casual wear, i think.

Cool pieces, miss T! What did you paint the earrings on?
The scarf looks very princess-sy. Is it lavender? It could be both casual and dressy. Very pretty.

LOVE the scarf. I would wear that pretty much as you described it. Jeans, white wife beater, silver bangled and earrings.

Do you have any ideas for hairpieces? Like, flowered clips or even metalwork? I could see that working well for you. I'm just starting to wear things in my hair. It's really long and too hot to do anything with it but I like a long side plait with an adornment.

Man, I wish you could make wedding dresses!!

Thanks! Next up will be finally getting to the felting supplies I bought awhile back. Going to try to do a cobweb style nuno felted scarf, light and airy. I love the look of them. It's quite a process though - wet felting.

Oh and funny you should ask about flowered clips out of metal. Last year I made a bunch of hairpins out of aluminum that would have gotten thrown away. Little rosettes, but they were really time consuming. I've always wanted to get into metal work and read that is something someone with Mars/Uranus aspect would be good at. Maybe someday.

Thanks for the comment!

I can't believe it's been two months and I've not even begun my project!! Ahhh how life gets in the way! My neighbors put up a giant wooden swingset a foot over my property line soooo my project ended up being putting up a 6 foot vinyl privacy fence so my daughter wouldn't cry every time we went outside because I had to tell her "no, you can't go on that". Not that they did it on purpose, but they aren't friendly with us, and I imagine the insurance connundrum if she were to run over there and hurt herself on that thing. Ugh.

Still intend on getting to these things, just not sure when... As it goes! I've also made a few sets of earrings for my cousin for various functions and random homemade birthday/other cards. I'm a little obsessed with craigslist and freecycle atm too. LOL. Becuase I need to get MORE crap in my garage that I won't have time to finish!!

Cute about your daughter and the swing. LOL

& at least you are finding some time to do some little projects. Cool about craigslist freecycle! I hadnt heard of that. I know one guy was in the news for living off of doing trades through craigslist and wanted to look into that. He even traded his antique car for a house.

Yeah, please post pics when you get to some of your projects. I will eventually too!
