I'm feeling drawn to publish a collection of my creative word endeavors, either in e-book form or self-published volumes....any suggestions, ideas or advice you can offer, dear Knowflakes?

Oh, and how does one select which ones to include?

I think that is a great idea for you!

I don't know alot about how this works, but I'm throwing it out there.

I think many people are self-publishing this way...?

Another Knowflake self-published her poetry (LMN). I have her autographed book.

Don't know anything about publishing myself but I'd say go for it. Your writings are super amazing.

T,

The Amazon thing could definitely work, I'm just collecting other research for knowledge sake. I like how little upfront money is required, especially since I'm a newbie to publishing, I just need to figure out how to get it our to the right potential audience.

The next question I have for everybody is how do I narrow down what poems get included?

I've done a topic-focused collection before for a journaling class in college, but otherwise, my poems run the full gamut of topics and emotional tones...I'm hard-pressed to pick, but I want to make sure whichever selection I include is mostly cohesive, and appealing.

I would not narrow them down. Pack the book full of everything your heart and soul has ever written.

Also, I remember a book I came across once when I was younger. It was full of someone's poetry, but every other page or so, it has simple line drawings and sketches by someone else.

They didnt alwyas necessarily fit in with what the poetry was about, but they made for a nice "pause" and broke up the book well imo. They added interest.

That may be something to think about too. Helping a visual artist (if that is something you think would fit in alongside your poetry).

Can't wait for the day you accompish this. Because I know you will.

Haha! Yeah, I got on an alphabet roll there, but LMB. She's no longer around.

Thank you for your optimism and excitement, T!!!

I am so PSYCHED about this and getting more so by the minute!!! I love the Jupiter in Gemini (in my 3rd house) energy I am channeling....

I love the idea, T, about putting everything I've ever written...my only challenge is I've been writing since I was 12 years old...

That encompasses nearly 15 YEARS of writing, and during some periods of my life, it has been incredibly prolific....and I write more if not every day lately, at least 3 or so a week...

I do also sketch, so perhaps could also include a few of those per your suggestion...

Ey yei yei....this sounds monumental and I cannot wait til I get to see the finished product...what a project for this year ahead, and I have a feeling it may take the entire transit of Jupiter to see it through, but it's been my lifelong goal to share my words with the world...

Yeah, that would be a lot to squeeze in! But there is no limit to pages

Very cool that you could add your own art too!

How's it coming along now? Wishing you the best and yes, a Jupiter transit should give you a big boost to make this dream come true!

Keep us posted

Thanks for checking in, T! I'm having trouble getting into my old doc files from middle school, so in the meantime, I am typing up handwritten poems from 2004, and organizing the more recent stuff It's fun riding the tide of enthusiasm!!!!

Question: Is each poem given it's own page, or can the poems flow one after another?

I'm organizing them by date, as it shows how the story and journey of my life progresses...so far, I've typed up most of poetry from 2001-2005...still finding more, LOL

What a ride it is to re-read all the most condensed emotional moments of your life...I am totally re-experiencing it all, and all I can say is WOW.

Sounds awesome VAA.
I self-published through LuLu, my book is on Amazon & other places. I've done the whole process from start til finish, so if you have any queries I'm more than happy to help.

No one has bought it yet.

I'm thinking of revising it again. I'm scared. When I'm confident I will post it here. I'm just really chicken at the moment.

Hey SunChild, no reason to be chicken, but I know how it is, wanting things to be perfect before showing them off to the world. You've been brave putting it out there, remember that

I'd love to pick your brain about the publishing process...is it easier to talk here, or e-mail?

My Leo Moon is wanting to share progress notes :
**280 pages** and counting so far...only single spaced with one line left between title and poem, and after each poem.

I'm and there is still a whole chunk of writing missing, mainly from 8th and 9th grade...B-)
