VOICE OF THE BATTERED CHILD"Some Things I Would Like" I would like to be wanted
without having to ask
if it's okay
for someone to love me I would like to be loved
and not be afraid
that somebody thinks
I'm full already I would like to be held
in gentle arms
with strength
that merges beings I would like to be seen
with loving full eyes
that aren't afraid
to know it's just me I would like to be wrapped
by soft eyes and arms
into a tickly heart
that says Hello there
I see you
You're real
and I love you These are things I really would like

I am so sorry you had to suffer through such a terrible atrocity. What a courageous person you are, that you came forward though, I commend you for that.I understand the feeling of violation, via a stalker I had to contend with in my locality for a few years. I couldn't go out and work in my flower beds, I couldn't go out and brush the snow off my car, I couldn't even get my kids on the bus- without being bothered. The nightmares and premonitions I would have were crippling to say the least. The police were basically useless, when I did finally reach out for help. These days it's quiet, thankfully- I was skittish though about being public and putting my books out there, but I thought it's an aim, it's a goal, it's an accomplishment I want to have in my life, so throwing some caution to the wind, I wasn't letting anyone stop me from the very thing I enjoy doing (poetry). Editing to add: I beg to differ- you are a poet, as a paraphrase from this quote reminded me of you. "Poets are all who feel great truths, and tell them."~Bailey IP: Logged |
