Nature nature nature.

Long walks.

Practicing mindfulness/meditation.

Random acts of kindness/community service.

Taking care of animals/plants/children.

Art/music. Anything creative.

Vigorous exercise, good diet. Proper sleep.

Going overboard sometimes. OOPS hangover..it was worth it!

Practice mental yin/yang. When you feel angry, use your reason to mentally conjure a memory of love. When you feel intense sexual desire that is painful, imagine the person old and decrepit, or ugly. When you feel depressed think of a joyful time.

Replacing negative mind chatter immediately.
Realizing that the sh&% of past hurtful memories does indeed make one stink.
Arming oneself for the battle of negative mind chatter by eating and being healthy, sleeping well and when pursued by the demons-of-the-past take a long walk or run,do what you love as long as you don't like to self defeat.
Get busy, Clean the cabinets, make a "collage of pain" hang it up and realize it is outside you now and controllable.

exactly what both of you said plus reading, and watching something funny. i like to keep in mind quotes that ease the pain of it all and feeling "understood" like Van Gough with his - "when voices tell you, you are not a painter, paint anyway and the voices will go away" and Rev. Run "Good morning. Fear is the souls signal for rallying.. If you're never
scared or embarrassed or hurt, it means you never take any chances.
God is Love
Rev Run"

Laughter does amazing things-my friend Laural reminded me of this when I was succumbing to what i was perceiving as horrible hurting words being thrown at me due to the speakers enjoyment of my reaction. Laugh! Laural would say, Laugh! and we did and laughed and laughed until the harmers couldn't take themselves seriously and no harm! Some say 8minutes of laughter a day puts 8 yrs on your life! Remember that movie with cher and Jack Nicholson where the 3 women friends met Jack and turned into witches and when crisis struck they remebered to laugh and saved themselves? Tookie told me to say, "What have we here?" to dis arm a situation and Hannibal Lector taught me in Silence Of The Lambs, "What is it of itself?" all 3 work and restructure my reactions and keep me from attracting those voodoo doll pins!
