TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA: Fear of the number 13. It all began in religious times. Friday the 13th phobia has its roots in the early days of Christianity. There were 13 people at Christ's Last Supper before his captivity, and then He was crucified on a Friday. Since number 13 is regarded as an ominous and unlucky. The latest example of ill-fated Apollo 13 lunar mission, which was, aborted en route to the moon in 1970 because of a fuel cell in the service module. The flight left the launching pad at 13 minutes after the hour on April 13.In China also, 13 was regarded as a number of obstacles. In the ancient religion of Mexico, number 13 were considered the most fortunate number- since it symbolizes the Sun, the male and positive energy. In the Cabala, 13 are not regarded as unlucky. In the second book of the Moses, one can study of the 13 attributes of God (Exodus34: 6-7). In numerology, it is a number of practical, alert, and intelligent. Those born on this date are very successful in scientific research and development. Their interests in religion and philosophy can bring them great fame and siddhis/ riddhis (powers that are believed to be supernatural) http://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question2217.html

#13
REGENERATION - CHANGE
'13' is not an unlucky number, as many people believe. The ancients claimed that 'he who understands how to use the number '13' will be given power and dominion.' The symbol of '13' is a skeleton, or death, with a scythe, reaping down men in a field of new grown grass, where young faces and heads appear to be thrusting through the ground and emerging on all sides. '13' is a number of upheaval, so that new ground may be broken. It's associated with power, which, if used for selfish purpose, will bring destruction upon itself. There is a warning of the unknown and the unexpected. Adapting to change gracefully will bring out the strength of the '13' vibration, and decrease any potential for negative. '13' is associated with genius - also with explorers, breaking the orthodox and new discoveries of all kinds. If you were born on the 13th day of any month - or should the Compound Key Number of your name be '13' - you'll need to read careful the section of this chapter related to the numbers '4' and '8'. http://the-red-thread.net/numerology-chart.html

13 ~ According to authors Bullinger & Vallowe, the number 13 represents Depravity & Rebellion (1 + 3 = 4). However, in Judaism the number 13 is the number for LOVE ~ this may be true in that the "Love" chapter in the New Testament is 1 Corinthians chapter "13," and with Jesus and His disciples there would have been 13! Because of 1 Cor. 13, and the number of Jesus & His apostles, I am inclined to agree with Judaism that the number 13 is the number for Love. As stated above, a number has both a positive aspect and a negative aspect. In this case, the positive aspect of the number 13 is LOVE, and the negative aspect is LACK OF LOVE, or Depravity & Rebellion! http://members.cox.net/8thday/meaning.html

prime Number 13 is the second Star Number:

It is the basis of the Unity Holograph, which is built upon an ascending set of multiples of 13 as follows:

(Ahavah, Love) = 13
(Echad, Unity) = 13
(YHVH, The LORD) = 13 x 2 = 26
(YHVH Echad, The LORD is One) = 13 x 3 = 39
Sum of the Shema = 13 x 86 = 1118

Its relation to Love manifests in the 1 Corinthians 13 - the 13 verses of I Corinthians 13 - and the litte book of Philemon on Spoke 13 of the Wheel.

Here are the basic identities:

The Number 13
Love [Pro 10.12]

One [Deu 6.4]

My Father [Ex 15.2]

Void / Emptiness [S# 922]

http://www.biblewheel.com/gr/GR_13.asp

The Unity Holograph

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Deuteronomy 6.4f

When Jesus was asked to declare the greatest commandment, he quoted this verse. Its name, the Shema, is taken from the first word which means Hear. Modern Jews consider the recital of the Shema both evening and morning to be one of their most sacred duties, and heroes of the Jewish faith have been said to have died with the final letter Dalet still on their lips. Mystics refer to its recital as the Unification of the Name, and see it as one of the most direct routes to union with God.

The Shema opens with a statement of Unity followed by a Threefold commandment. The pattern based on One and Three is reiterated in the numerical weight of two of the fundamental terms used in the verse. In accordance with the Alphabet Table, we have:

One

Echad

= 13 = Love

Ahavah

This reiterates the intrinsic relation between 1 (Unity) and 3 (Trinity) which is the divine basis for the triad I-You-They that includes all possible interpersonal relationships. The Number 13 is the first non-trivial hexagonal Star Number:

The Jews have long recognized the profundity of this link between Love and Unity and have integrated it in their understanding of the Shema. For example, in the fifteenth century, Rabbi Meir Ibn Gabbai wrote:1

For the perfect adoration worship demanded of the true worshipper is the service of the Unity, that is, the unification of the glorious and Only Name. But the essence of Love is the true Unity, and the true Unity is what is termed Love...

Obviously, we are not the first to note these identities. In fact, these ideas are linked so strongly in the Jewish tradition that we find them expressed even in the Daily Prayer Book:2

Our Father, merciful father, ever compassionate, have mercy upon us ... Thou hast chosen chosen us from all peoples and tongues, hast bought us near unto thy great name forever in faithfulness, to thank thee and proclaim thy Unity in Love ...

These identities also relate directly to God as our Father, which is not only a Christian, but also a very Jewish way to refer to God. Consider the words of Dr. Schechter:3

the term "Father," or "our Father, who is in heaven," or "My Father, who is in heaven," is one of the most frequent in the Jewish Prayer Book and the subsequent liturgy. The latter seems to have been a favorite expression with the Tanna of the School of Elijah who very often introduces his comments on the Bible ... with the words "My Father in heaven, may thy great name be blessed for all eternity, and mayest thou have delight in thy people Israel."

The fundamental Hebrew word expressing this relation is:

(Avi, My Father) = 13

The influence of Gematria thoroughly suffuses the entire Rabbinical tradition. Moses Maimonides, considered by many Jews to be one of the greatest Rabbis ever to live, undoubtedly had these and many other such relations in mind when he codified Judaism as Thirteen Articles of Faith, implying that the essence of the faith is Love and Unity. He also wrote an exposition entitled "26 Propositions Employed by the Philosophers to Prove the Existence of God." Why 26? This is the numerical weight of the most holy personal name of God:

The LORD

YHVH
= 26 = 2 x 13 = Love + Unity

All of this adorns the doctrine that "God is love" with simplicity and grace. Furthermore, when this name is combined with the word one, as it is in the Shema, we have:

The LORD is One

YHVH Echad
= 39 = 3 x 13 = 3 x ONE

That these two ideas, Love and Unity, are subsumed in one numerical category is tremendously significant, but that the uniting number is itself composed of a One and a Three is nothing less than divine.

God used these relations in the design of I Corinthians 13, which is commonly known as the Bible's magnificent Love Chapter. There is no greater statement of the nature of love to be found in the Bible, or anywhere else, for that matter. And how was it designed? It is the 13th chapter consisting of 13 verses with the 13th verse explicitly built on the pattern of Three and One: "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." (Charity being the translation of Agape, Love).

Yet there is more. Calculating the sum of the entire Shema yields yet another multiple of 13:

Sum of Shema = 1118 = 13 x 86

And what is the significance of the Number 86? This is the value of the name of God given in the first verse of the Bible:

God

Elohim
= 86

Thus, the sum of the entire Shema has the obvious interpretation:

Sum of Shema = 1118 = 13 x 86 = ONE x GOD!

Remember, these identities are incontrovertible, and this is the verse that Jesus declared to be greatest commandment! The plain meaning of the text of this Scripture is fully coded in its intrinsic alphanumeric structure. These relations are represented in the following diagram:

Yet there is still more! Turning to the New Testament, we find the title Jesus Christ used most frequently to refer to God:

The Father

Ho Pater
= 559 = 13 x 43

As an aside, this word links to the First Word of the Bible through the identity:

God the Father

Ho Theos Ho Pater

= 913 = In the beginning

Berashith

And now we can behold the most amazing fact of all. The three names of God, The Father, Elohim, and YHVH, are not independent! They share a common set of three prime factors:

Divine Name Value Prime Factors
The Father 559 - 13 43
God (Elohim) 86 2 - 43
The LORD (YHVH) 26 2 13 -

Consider what this means. The numerical values of these three names are generated from a single set following a single rule: They are generated by multiplying pairs of primes from the set (2, 13, 43). And where have we seen this set? It is the set of the unique prime factors of the Shema!

Sum of Shema = 1118 = 2 x 13 x 43

There are exactly three numbers generated from this set in this fashion, and these three numbers mathematically interlock to form a self-contained, closed algebra of God's names. This set - the Unity Holograph Generating Set - is a variation of the theme of the Holographic Generating Set (27, 37, 73), and can be derived from it.

All of this conspires to show that the Shema, the first and greatest commandment - the greatest declaration of God unity to be found in all Scripture - mathematically declares the doctrine of the Trinity:

As it turns out, there is a large body of Jewish literature that uses the Shema as a starting point for the discussion of the "mystery of the threefold singularity" that is the Godhead. A brief introduction to this in found in my review of Yehuda Liebes "Studies in the Zohar."

The relations between the Numbers in the Shema and the Persons of the Holy Trinity has been detailed in the article The Shield of the Blessed Trinity. Here is a brief overview of the relation between the three primes and the Trinity:

The Number 13 and God the Father

The Number 13 This is the value of "My Father". It is reflected (x 2) in the value of the name of the Lord (26 = 2 x 13).

The Number 2 and God the Son:

This is the Number of the Son, as discussed at length in various articles relating to Spoke 2. In particular, we have this identity based on the Beyt KeyWord:

Son

Ben
= 52 = 2 (Image/Reflection) x 26 (YHVH, The LORD)

The Number 43 and God the Holy Spirit:

There are numerous relations to the Holy Spirit based on the Number 43. It is the value of (Gheel, Exceeding Joy) which is the gift of the Holy Spirit (Cf. also 710 and this word is found in Psalm 43 in conjuction with the name Elohim (= 2 x 43). The 43rd Triangular Number is 946 = 22 x 43 = T(43), and we have the pair of identities:

The Spirit

To Pneuma

= 946 = The Spirit (Hebrew, Full)

HaRuach

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

~ John 13: 34-35

Greetings...

HSC...

Thanks for the post, as many of your additions to this site, it was insightful and inspiring.

It brought a few things to mind randomly...

26 x 2 = 52 (as in weeks of the year) so basically God is with us always, in ALL WAYS, through all our days! {Interestingly, 26 x 14 = 364} (hrmm, days of the year?!?)

26 x 3 = 78 So perhaps the Tarot should be called "God's picture book", and NOT "the devil's picture book"!

I feel moved to tell you that you have a beautiful Soul... you do know that, don't you? Well, if you don't know it... you should!

I dunno why, but I Felt that you needed a reminder.

Blessings...

Greetings...

HSC... I saw this today, and was inspired to add this as an addendum to yesterday's little message:

Yet is all this naught but words
Without the key supplied
by the understanding heart.
Love is that key.
Love, not reason;
For reason followeth after love,
And when reason would enslave love,
Then is reason but a tyrant
Punishing itself with what it trieth in vain
to enslave.
Love cometh first as thou mayest see in Tarot,
Where the Empress cometh before the Emperor.
Without love, reason is sterile,
For love is the generatrix of true imagery.
Reason can arrange, reason can harvest;
But the harvester weareth also
the mask of death.
*********************** The Book of Tokens: Tarot Meditations by Paul Foster Case

Sort of jumped off the page at me, hope it means something for you.

Blessed Be...

Oh, Aselzion, what a treat to open this thread and read such kindnesses to me!

I did need to hear that, lol. But I'm not going to cry, lol.

I slip, and keep slipping, but I swear I am trying to be a light in this world.

I made a few contributions today that I feel proud of.

And you, of course, impress me with your steady composure, sharp insights and big heart.

You are a truly beautiful soul, and I know that.

Those correspondences to the number of weeks and days in the year are compelling.

There is so much here.. you know that feeling..

I heard a voice today, "Keep looking," it said,
"There is a lot, there is a lot, there is a lot."

I wish I knew all that you know, life-long student that you are.

Everyday new worlds are opening, and there's no time --
what am I saying?? -- there is an eternity of time, in which to explore them.

Paul Foster Case is interesting.. I touched upon him, but i want to know more.
The quote is hard-hitting -- which is to say that it hits home, for me.

But you must know this.. that I let the intellect take precedence.
Oh, I need to remember the heart; oh, I need to remember the heart!
Thank you, dear friend, for reminding me of what is paramount.

I wanted to get your impressions on a couple of things:

1. Atlantis

2. Ever worked with Whole Sign Houses?

love to you, friend,

Oh, I also was thinking about your theory today, about the semi-sextiles and inconjuncts.

Can you redirect me to the thread on that, if you know where to look? Thanks.

Greetings....

HSC...

Atlantis... beautiful, magical, advanced... sad... but not truly Lost. More on the order of "misplaced", if you know what I mean? As long as it lives in the hearts of the survivors, it will never truly be Lost.

And as The High Priestess instructs us, the memories are always available to the true Seeker, willing to do the work, and "bait the hook", as it were...

Creation is the record of mine ever-changing
manifestation.
All things bear the imprint of the history of the
universe.
Nothing of mine activity escapeth this record.
In it do men share, because they, too,
Are parts of the stream of mine inferior nature.
Thus are they partakers in my perfect recollection,
Which is the source of all memories,
And the root of all the wisdom of mankind.

**************** from The Book of Tokens Paul Foster Case

Whole Sign Houses...
Well, I have used Equal Houses with good effect. I like Campanus best amongst the quadrant systems. Whole Signs... Rob Hand has been talking about them for the past several years... popular amongst Vedic Astrologers. And the Ancient Greeks, if Hand or Zoller are correct. I say, as did Linda: all systems work if you apply them appropriately, and if you are Gifted with the skills to read a chart.

What are your thoughts?

I bumped the Inconjunct thread: Vulcan and Minerva for your perusal.

Perhaps we should discuss more of these matters in person sometime, if you are so inclined.

Blessings in L.V.X.,

Sure, A, I'd be priviledged to have another chance to discuss some things. I was skittish last time. But you will have to keep the "true Seeker, willing to do the work" talk to a minumum, or you're bound to intimidate me. I'm so restless.. I'm like a wild horse, you know. Is there really no true seeking that comes naturally to me? Must my will be broken, tamed, domesticated? What have I been doing all this time, and what have I been bringing up? Could it be possible that I am at a different point in the cycle; I mean, could it be possible that I am in a period of "dispensation", like, you know, that quote about emptying ourselves so we can be filled.. maybe i am still pouring out my vessel; water-bearer that i am?? Don't laugh. Okay, do. But, really, its so hard for me to sit still and focus on my breath and visualize and all that stuff. But I feel like my seeking is still geniune, although of a different order entirely. I dont want to fool myself about this. But it feels so unnatural to force myself to be still. We can talk about these things later. Just giving you a hint of what goes on over here. You tell me to do the work, bait the hook.. but I cant shake the suspicion that I am the work, the bait, the hook... nevermind... nevermind

"In the hearts of the survivors"... Who are the survivors?

Love the quote.

Thanks for bumping the thread.

My thoughts:

We can talk about Atlantis later.

Whole Signs Houses --

I had a reading recently and the astrologer used this method,
and it was a revelation to me when he interpreted my chart this way.
I felt lighter (enlightened), like it was just a much better fit.
The more I looked into it, the more it seems to make sense for me.

So, yeah,

HSC,

Quite! There is no other work, in Reality. The goal is not to become anything, but to Realize that we are a part of All that IS... to stop believing in the illusion of separation, despite the voice of the "little ego".

You, most assuredly are a Seeker, to be sure. A restless spirit, an intellectual powerhouse. A Teacher and quite possibly a Healer, if I am not mistaken.

What do you choose to be? And what are you willing to do to Realize yourself as such?

I have a few more pointed questions, and a wee bit of homework for you, but we'll wait on that until the appointed time! And do not feel skittish nor intimidated, I think you just might enjoy the Work!

"Wild Geese"

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Mary Oliver

"Buoyancy"

Love has taken away my practices and filled me with poetry.
I tried to keep quietly repeating,
No strength but yours,but I couldn't.
I had to clap and sing.
A mountain keeps an echo deep inside itself.
That's how I hold your voice.
I am scrap wood thrown in your fire, and quickly reduced to smoke.
I saw you and became empty.
This emptiness, more beautiful than existence, it obliterates existence,
and yet when it comes, existence thrives and creates more existence!
The sky is blue.
The world is a blind man squatting on the road.
A great soul hides like Muhammad, or Jesus,
moving through a crowd in a city where no one knows him.
To praise is to praise how one surrenders to the emptiness.
Praise, the ocean.
What we say, a little ship.
So the sea-journey goes on, and who knows where!
Just to be held by the ocean is the best luck we could have.
It's a total waking up!
Why should we grieve that we've been sleeping?
It doesn't matter how long we've been unconscious.
We're groggy, but let the guilt go.
Feel the motions of tenderness around you, the buoyancy.
