Hi all,

i did a reading for my friend asking what the purpose of her relationship/affair with someone was

got these

present: 9 cups
past obstacles: 7 pents
hidden influences: ace of swords
future influences: emperor
overall message: 9 pents

so I'm a bit whiskey tango foxtrot over this, what on earth is 9 pents all about?

i've been thinking about the whole garden thing, yet i'm not sure i'm digging the feeling, not sure at all

this doesn't help either: http://www.crystal-reflections.com/tarot2/rider/nine_p.htm

thanks to whomever checks this out

I'm a tarot novice, but a pro when it comes to spotting patterns and hidden doors - 9 of Pentacles is inherently about waiting/laying still that's shrouded in complacency, and it all comes from being self-sufficient. #food4thought

it is supposed to correspond to venus in virgo, of which i'm not a massive fan either, venus in an earth sign thats not taurus is a bit unpretty

I'd disagree as far as the physical goes - very handsome,Earth Venuses, model-like with Virgo or Cap influence.

While I am at it - Virgo Moon thrives over Virgo Venus, and Cap Venus over Cap Moon. It must the detrimental aspect of Virgo Venus/Cap Moon.

i didn't mean physically

just all this trying-too-hard thing, the breakfast in bed thing, focusing on insignificant day-to-day ways of displaying affection. this i call unpretty. venus in capricorn i'd rather not even comment on, and it's irrelevant anyway

anyway, what i don't like about venus in virgo is its low-key quality I guess, precisely what you mentioned in your last comment, this whole waiting in silence business, don't reckon its for winners or the young and beautiful

Explain this further about the Virgo moon thriving, please.

Yes, I see what you mean. The Virgo influence is ritualistic - you perform each task every day, with precision and dedication as to insure their service keeps the world running. I don't think they derive much pleasure from it except for the feeling that they're doing their part in the wholesome scheme. I appreciate the unassuming quality and simplicity - because of the elegance it begets. It's lovely. I know more H6 Venuses than Virgo Venuses, though. They can be a bit boring on the surface. They need to thaw. Let loose, break free. You know how ancient priests would get much more interesting after using hallucinogenic herbs? Something like that. I'm other words, they react strongly to a direct, darling approach (Virgo's solar H8 is in Aries) be it a confident individual or drugs.

I think that everything is for the young and the beautiful. The exuberance of being young and unapologetic behaviour is not something you'd normally associate with Virgo. That's why you look for Jupiter in their chart. Or heavily aspected Sun.

Sorry for the rambling! I don't think the spread is particularly romantic (in the typical sense) but it is empowering in its results.

@littlecloud

It's something I've noticed. In terms of Virgo's Moon manifestation - the sensuality, efficacy, the physical appearance - it does so much more than Virgo Venus (comparing Moon and Venus representing the symbols of the female archetype). Virgo Moon are so fine.

^ hey yeah thanks for clarifying

i just somehow tend to misunderstand empowerment as a concept, so relating it to Virgo is even trickier. how is Virgo empowering? how can Virgo qualities be a gift?

how can someone be really in love an only be left with 9 pents as a gift? how does one live on with something as trifling as this? the golden dawn name for 9 pents is "lord of material gain", sometimes simply "lord of gain"

we could almost say her trajectory was from Pisces (9 cups) to Virgo? surely this can only be read as degeneration?

she defs made no money lol

Hmm...I have a Virgo moon (rules my 5th house) but it's squared by Saturn and Uranus, which I take it would give me a Cappy moon type of look as well? I haven't really delved into the physical aspects of astrology.

Virgos aren't compromising, value integrity, run "no debts - emotional or monetary debts" personal philosophy... You learn schizz from them.

I noticed there aren't any Wands in the spread. And Cups and Swords don't mesh well.

Look at the Ace - ulterior motives?

Emperor - that's only one side pushing the matter, controlling it even thwarting it.

9 Cups - 9 Pentacles : it's like an opposition, the same principle, the opposite polarity. Not digression but bit of a practical magic? Maybe, he's your wish come true (the most used 9 of cups interpretation) but in the end he is actually someone who suits you (the rationale regarding the relationship valuation).

Does you friend share your views on love? Maybe the cards trigger something different in her.

Not necessarily - I'd wager in aspects to Asc ruler, rather than Moon's aspects first.

Happy New Year, guys.

well, that story didn't end in a pretty way at all and caused quite a bit of pain. which is why this whole emperor + 9 pents look quite out of place to me

since i don't get the whole becoming stronger business, this is a very surprising spread, i am having a massively hard time reading it

also yeah happy new year xx

Do another spread, a succinct, 2-3 cards solution. Change the question, you know how that goes...

That's of course if your cards allow you to do another same-ish question. Some cards are prickly... (my set is *very* patient with me, and permits a variation or two on the same question)

"Nincompoop, we are sooo not tellin' you anything. May your head explode in thinking for all we care".

Hierophant for asking [in his not so humble opinion - stupid] questions, HP for being evasive and Tower for the really out of spite meanness.
