Hey Dean. The other day I posted on a thread where you asked if eating meat might interfere with astral travel / meditation. I proposed an experiment about invisioning a path and a bear. Now I can't remember what the thread was called or which forum it was in, so I don't know if you ever saw my last post or if you posted after. Do you remember the thread I'm talking about?

Yeah, it was in the time travel thread: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001054-2.html .

I tried the experiment last night, but I couldn't even visualise a path. I seem to get headaches when I try to meditate. I think maybe I'm trying to hard, or I have a severely blocked filter. When I was kind of a vegan (I lived on caramel tea rings) I would just fall into these deep meditations. As would fall asleep, my vision (with closed eyes) would fill with light. Now it never does, and I get these headaches. When I had the light, I sometimes ate chicken but I didn't eat red meat since reading star signs about two years before. Now I eat red meat, and the light is gone. I'm pretty sure this is where the problem's at. I'm thinking that I answered my own question when I asked it. As you said, something's blocking my path, but maybe it's blocked before I even start...

Maybe starting requires no meat. I'll try this again sometime, but I don't think I can right now. When you said you sometimes eat local meats, I think there is nothing wrong with that whatsoever, but I have a question. Do you ever feel a bit sick when eating red meat in particular at a local site? I mean, you probably won't because you are experiencing what they experience, but I'm just curious. I used to feel a bit sick when I was a "chicken vegan".

Also, I never understood that open sesame, it's weird hey? One I liked was when (I think it was) Ernie said "Ala peanut butter and jelly sandwiches" when he tried to open a door.

But, my last thought here is that maybe Open Sesame means something - the way to open your life to infinite possiblities is through veganism. Sesame seeds may be a symbol for veganism like hyacinths are for imortals? I know a vegan who's been one for 22 years, and he doesn't look too good, but he also doesn't believe in imortality, so maybe it's self inflicted. Anyhow, he told me I had to meditate 2-3 hours a day and be a vegan. I'm not sure what the result would be, but I definitely think I should try veganism again. Just not now. Anyhow, thanks for your advice.

Heaps of Love,
Dean.

Sounds like you have it figured out. Go with your own instincts.

Yes, I have gotten sick from eating meat. I'm usually OK if it is ceremonially, but not always. I'm not vegan, but I am one if the healthiest people I know. Plus, the other day one of my son's friends ask me "How come you used to be my mom's age and now she is old and you look like you are only slightly above my age?" Naturally, I told him it was the balance of clean living and Rock music.

Open Sesame is a magical phrase in the story of "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" in One Thousand and One Nights. It opens the mouth of a cave in which forty thieves have hidden a treasure.

In the story, Ali Baba overhears the thieves saying "open sesame". His brother later cannot remember the phrase, and confuses it with the names of other grains (becoming trapped in the magic cave).

It's Amazing Mumford, not Ernie.

Amazing Mumford is a lavender Muppet on Sesame Street. He is a magician whose magic tricks frequently go awry. The magic words he most-often uses to produce his tricks are "À la peanut butter sandwiches".

I think this blogger posted some interesting points in regards to 'opening sesame seeds'...

quote:

OPEN SESAME

Open sesame, one of the most celebrated magic phrases, held enough power for Ali Baba to shift boulders and open a passage into the unknown. This colorful, centuries-old fable points to a literal truth about the power and importance of magic words:

"We know that words cannot move mountains, but they can move the multitude. . . . Words shape thought, stir feeling, and beget action; they kill and revive, corrupt and cure. The “men of words”—priests, prophets, intellectuals—have played a more decisive role in history than military leaders, statesmen, and businessmen.

Words and magic are particularly crucial in time of crisis when old forms of life are in dissolution and man must grapple with the unknown. Normal motives and incentives lose then their efficacy. Man does not plunge into the unknown in search of the prosaic and matter-of-fact. His soul has to be stretched by reaching out for the fabulous and unprecedented. He needs the nurse of magic and breath-taking fairy tales to lure him on and sustain him in his faltering first steps. Even modern science and technology were not in the beginning a sober pursuit of facts and knowledge. Here, too, the magicians—alchemists, astrologers, visionaries—were the pioneers."

—Eric Hoffer, The Ordeal of Change (1976)

From ideology to science, from spiritualism to cultural revolutions, words open passages into the unknown. And anyone, whether leader or follower, for whom discourse serves as a first step to unexplored territory, is an Ali Baba, a personal pioneer.
