This is my first post. I am so sad, my beloved Rottweiler passed away on my 40th birthday. I keep thinking she's in the house but I'm not sure if I believe it. I really want to. Any ideas about what happens to pets when they pass on? Love it here & thanks for your thoughts.

First off welcome CuriousAquarian!
Second, Im sorry for your loss. I know how hard it can be. I just lost (last Thursday) my best friend of 20 years, she was a feline. Its a very hard thing to deal with. Many of my friends have said "Oh its just a cat/dog" but its not, its so much more than that. They always there, they depend on you. They're your companion and best friend and child all in one. Your family Just know ur Rotty is never far from you!

Some people believe that pets reincarnate immediatly, while others believe - they choose, when the time is right to return to us. But the one thing that is the same thought form both sides of the fence is that "Your pet will ALWAYS return to you" its always with you.

When my b/f was younger, he lost his cat friend, but nightly she would come visit him. She could be felt climbing on the bed, and sleepign on his pillow. She never left his side, even after she left his sight.

Hope this helps!

WoW! I used to have a Great Dane that was my best friend & when I got the Rott, who was grown, I *felt* like it was Jake reincarnated. The similarities were so many & so detailed. I told Bailey before she passed to come back to me. I feel so much better! Thank you so much Ang! You're right, she was my daughter & best friend.

I have a female cat (Mallory) now, who I believe was a reincarnation of my first cat that I had (peahces) when I moved outta my parents house! Shes exactly like Peaches to a T ...

You see, they never really leave u, just like your loved ones that pass on!

I am sorry for your loss. Albeit temporary. I recently read the same thing. That they will reincarnate back to you. What I read said to wait about 6 months. Then go in search of a new pet and look for the familiarity in the eyes. Isn't that wonderful. I would miss my dogs so much if they were to pass but know I know what to do.

I always wonder about this too. I kind of think they either return to a special place and just become one with the universe or they may in fact reincarnate.
My cat (Buster) is seriously the love of my life! He's getting older though and I'm going to be devestated when he passes. I believe he will come back to me though.
Another interesting sub topic is how these animals came into our lives in the first place... I remember when I was 9 I had begged my mom for a kitten and she was pretty fed up with me.

No more than 3 days later a kitten ended up on my door step! It was so special I had wished for a kitten and then he suddenly came to me. He's the most gentle creature I've ever known, he's not the typical cat. I'm away at school now and really miss cuddling with him. He snuggles right up to my face, it's so sweet. aww now im sad

I believe our beloved pets go on, as we do, to other plains of existence, expanding their consciousness and experiencing new things.
I've lost a hamster, a small creature, but one I feel lives on, and will live on, and in a certain stretch of time will have expanded her consciousness to the point that the energy within her simply must lead her to drift into a new state of physical being. Possibly in a far distant place.
I don't believe anything dies. Just goes somewhere else and continues growing.

Love & Light

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...
