Do gurus really exist? If yes, how do you find one?

I agree Iamthat, There is also a thread floating around here somewhere talking about how many people in your life are also gurus. But yoursELF being mainly it. Gee, you are you, G U R U. Linda said. People in your life can teach very good lessons if you look deeper into the meaning of the happenings in your life. I agree very much of that we are just brothers and sisters here to share our own experiences. I have taken many things to mind, in a short period of time, and they have lead to many deeper thoughts. This is a very good place to begin on the path to "enlightenment" or learning. There are so many great suggestions here.

Dear tracy,

I owe my discovery to LindaLand

It has wonderful people who challenge your thoughts and makes you perform better.

I do want to name those people but am afraid that I would hurt people I would miss inadvertently.

Peace.

They exist, always, and also, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

I have had 2 Guru's apear, and not the mysterious avatars with turbans yet though!
But they have answered my questions when I was ready to UNDERSTAND the answers, I have also been told on occasion that I wasn't ready, which in time I later understood how important it is to be ready. Which was total in synch with everything that was happening to me.

I had one guru appear to me. Rather I chose to find it. She has come in my dream once. I guess she cares for me.

How did these gurus come to you, Sun child? Did they come in the dream like iAmthat? Or were they life and flesh people who came knocking at your door one day and decided to talk? Did they stay after, or did they leave? Do they come to find you? Or must you go out and find them?

Christina,
No I spend a retreat with her for 3 days.
She came in a dream after a few months.
She is in US only few times a year.
I am planning to be there at the next retreat. It has changed me in so many ways.

Of all people I met she is the most genuine I have known personally.

Its sort of like initiation, where you follow your own deity.

I met my Guru first in dream. I saw somebody who could fly in sky and I went towards him and asked that I want to fly too.
Then one day I was travelling in bus and a guy just boarded into bus and took seat next to me and said that now you don't need to wander and your time has come to meet Guru.
When I told at my home, everybody said that I look like a mad person that is why a stranger said like that.
After few days I heard a song(meditational) from somebody's house. I don't know how I stepped into their house and my eyes were full of tears. I knocked at their door and said that who's song is this. It attracted me so much that all of a sudden my steps moved towards your house.
Then the lady their introduced me to my Guru. The day I met my Guru, I had very high fever and I could not go out of my house. But when I heard that she is in town, I went there. I could feel that I was missing her from lives and when I got up, I did not had any fever.
-----------------
Another experience one of my friend introduced me with Linda's book. When I was reading it first time, I felt like Linda is talking to me through her book. Since then I always felt her presence.

Christina,
I wish I could dream like that!
My own Guru's were just like any ordinary person. One of them was an honest Guru in his field of Knowledge and Wisdom, but even though he himself didn't know why he came to me, he just knew he had to.
The timing was the first sign that it was to be, and the rest of our relationship continued as Teacher and Student.
It wasn't always fun, and thrilling, but it was always illuminating.
At times, I didn't believe it because it became hard, and so much to deal with but it was all in plan with the path he genuinely wanted to illuminate for me.

The other Guru was not so obvious, only is now. Perhaps I may meet with him again one day, but what I remember is important now.
I remember when I was working my first job, and a guy would come in just to talk with us. At first I felt sorry for him because he looked shabby and he was probably from the down-market flats. He began to take some interest in me, and we'd talk for a long time on my breaks, others began to think he was harrassing me, but I felt different. So I told him that others are becoming suspicious and to chat at another cafe.
I found out he did live in the poor flats, and he had barely any money, so I bought him a coffee. I don't know what it was but he was such a warm person, I never felt threatened, even while other co-workers warned be that he may be a stalker.
Anyway, once a week we would meet, and sometimes I gave him money, sometimes 20, or 50.
I confided in someone and told them I was doing this, and they said I was insane, and that they will pray to angels to look out for me.
But they already were! He was one. I knew.
During our chats, I learned many things, which I value more now, than then! He knew that too!
Then One sad day, I never saw him again, he never came back, and even though I felt he was ok, I was sad.
Then later I found out the my manager knew I was sneaking to another cafe to meet with him too often, which was after work, in my own time! But nevertheless, my manager told him to buzz off and never come back, and called him a stalker, and a bum.
I almost died of heart-break.

But this Guru, occupied by the most beautiful Angel knew how much I genuinely enjoyed hisElf... And I will remember him always, it's such along story, but I hope you get the idea.

You see, the First One with me, was a very spiritual relationship (all things are) but I'm talking in a language of today, anyway, we spoke about many subjects of the Occult, and many "Linda Like things" to cut a long story short.
The Second One was different then, but the same now, (?)
When I met him then, I remember being uplifted, in a way I didn't know, and being taught many things that have materialized today, I look back to me then, and I didn't sense any spiritual guidence, but now it's as obvious as a very sore thumb!

Will I ever find one? I dreamt of a lady one time in my dreams, she told me to "do it my way" I had no idea what to do, nor what it was I was suppose to do it my way, but that dream stayed with me, and when I woke, I remembered it vividly. Do you think she might have been a guru? Except...she was drowning, and she was preguant...and looked a bit like Sandra Bullocks. But...do you think I'll ever find a guru? Or a guru will find me, I suppose. Does everyone get a guru? Or is it just a selected few? I hope I find one, I don't care when, but soon would be nice. I hope we can learn too, and I can be more then I am. I mean, then I can be me.

This is only my opinion, and I'm no way assuming I'm right, only what I've learned so far.
I haven't had a Guru type dream so I wont comment on that, but someone else might.
Infact, state your dream in Astral Realms, and Ra there may be able to give you some clues.
Really, everyone's entitled to a Guru when the time is right.
Linda mentioned that Genuine desire of the Heart is a powerful magnatism that will attract what you seek.
You seem very open minded, I'd say you can expect it.

Okay I started to type this out and realized it is too complicated and LONG of a story to tell here. I did meet, what I guess I could call my Guru. Or one of them at least. The whole thing was THE most surreal experience I've ever had. I met this woman one day by "chance" which she told me was not chance (nothing ever is) at all.

She was instructed by her Higher Self to go to where I was that day and meet me. We spent the next 5 hours next to a river talking non-stop. She had told me that she was my Teacher in a past life and I knew this to be true. I'll stop here because there is too much to the story, too long. But I will tell you that I know she wasnt pulling my leg. This was one of the most amazing meetings of my life. We met up one more day after that but unfortunately my fear got in the way. I was younger then and didnt know what I know now. Needless to say, I was not ready. She told me she would always be availiable to me all I had to do was contact her through the dreamstate. I tried a few times but from what I can recall I havent been able to contact her again. I never found out where she lived and knew she wasnt going to be in my area for long. She was following some kind of earth energy grid and was going to be moving out of my area shortly. I didnt get into that part too much with her but I can tell you she was one of the wisest people I have ever met. A beautiful african american woman who actually only looked about 5 years older than me but had the presence of a great sage.

It doesnt bother me anymore that we lost contact when we did. It just wasnt meant to be at that time. I realize now that I do not need anyone else to be my teacher or Guru. I have the best one I could ever have within myself.

And your "gurus" are everywhere. All around you. Every person you meet is a guru to you. Learn something from everything and everyone. The universe is waiting to give you your answers. All you have to do is ask. Then be still and listen.

Also she is the one who introduced me to Osho. So you can blame her. LOL! She instructed me to get his Book of Secrets. And I am oh so glad I did.

Thinking back on it, I never knew her age for sure. She didnt look that much older than me but she had to have been. She Knew too much. I knew nothing about immortality back then. Now it's making me wonder.....

Interesting

26T..I have one question I am dying to tell you. I read ( and thats why I ask str8 to you). Did Osho ever say "2/3rd of worlds population will have hiv?"

Why does he consider hiv positives as outcasts and does not allow them to enter the ashram?

Pardon me for offending you thats not my intention.

Hi IAT! No offense taken.

Honestly, I've never heard about that. As much of a fan of Osho's teachings as I am, I have not even read a majority of his books (he's written alot) or looked too much into his ashram or life. I find that if you read his Book of Secrets you can find pretty much everything you need to know about what he had come here to say. I've read some of his other books and they are just as good but that book is BIG and DEEP.

I am really not that knowlegeable on his personal life outside of his teachings. So I dont have an answer to your question but it is interesting. I havent heard anything about that.

One book I havent read by him but want to and will soon, is Autobiography of a Spiritually Incorrect Mystic. He fascinates me but I really dont know much about his life. I wonder if that question could be answered in that book.....

If I find anything out I'll let you know!

I'm getting the feeling that that is another Osho rumor.......

It just doesnt sound like something he would say. I'll have to look into that now.

Sorry I couldnt help you out more.

Ahh, this is what you are talking about. I'm not finished reading it yet. It's long, they took it from Osho, Medication to Meditation.
Very interesting. Here's the link:

Your Guru storys are beautiful. I haven't met anyone in person with spiritual interests to teach me yet, as a Guru, but every person in my life has taught me something very important, because I have really listened to whats happening. Any ways, I've been reading Gooberz, and have once again stumbled upon a quote from Linda's (i believe 2nd correct me if i'm wrong) Guru. I though it was appropriate to my own level of experience with Gurus. "each holds within himself - herself a star we are, in some ways, all teachers of eachother".

I hope one finds me soon. I really want someone to teach me all there is to be taught, you know? The guru stories are wonderful, and they'll give me hope. One time, when I was walking home, I passed a lady, and she smiled at me, except--she was so kind looking, her eyes a soft mellow blue, and her hair was orange/red. It seemed just like a scene in a movie, she passed me slowly, and she tilted her umbrella up, and smiled. (It was raining) and I thought she would have been one of the gurus.

Christina,
Until you meet such a person, you must prepare.

1. Fast once a while. Eat less or atleast try to

2. I prefer veg than meats. It does not make a difference IMO, but these days meats are n't what it used to be i.e natural.

3. Show compassion towards men and animals.

Watch a change happen in 3-6 months guaranteed.

Thank you iAmthat. I will do what you suggested. I was reading a past vorum, and it said that you develope cancer from giving more then you are receiving--did I read it wrong? But thank you.

Christina

P.S
God, I wish I didn't need to fast! All that food--giggles
