I've been writing so many affirmations, and asking for so much, and most has manisfested, but can you ever overwork your Higher Self? Should I stop for a bit, to give the Higher Self a break? And what are somethings we can do for our highselves? THey're done so much for me, and I feel guilty that I haven't done anything back...

Balance is the key to everything.

I dont think your Higher Self wants or needs anything from you except for you to listen to it. Know that it is always with you to help and guide. It is not a person and doesnt get overworked like we do. Give thanks to it for always being there for you, that is what you can give back. It will be your best guru.

Start asking within and see what happens. Dont rely completely on outside sources for your answers.

Interesting questions! I often think along similar lines.

quote:
can you ever overwork your Higher Self?

I'd say no. They are "pulling the strings" of many entities simultaneously and hence, would have sizable power.

quote:
Should I stop for a bit, to give the Higher Self a break?

Well, I personally feel that requests have more power if they're not made so often, but there's a catch. If not made often enough, they can go stale, whereas very often could be seen to "exercise" and hence strengthen the ability to request things - it creates a flow, I guess you could say. No request means no flow. So, it depends.

quote:
And what are somethings we can do for our highselves?

Now that's always a tough one! I'm sure their happy just seeing you flounder around down here. I'd imagine many hihger selves would be laughing their metaphorical heads off about what we get up to, but then, in a good way I'd expect doing the best possible thing at any moment would give them pleasure. I also think, like God, that the higher self would appreiciate you not asking because, like 26 was saying, if you do something yourself, then its your elf doing it! I mean, independency is a great thing, not to have to ask. It's like, parents love for their children to ask for help, but imagine seeing your children go off without asking and achieve what they want independently! That'd be great too. Which is greater? Well, why do things have to compete?

quote:
THey're done so much for me, and I feel guilty that I haven't done anything back...

Hmmm, something else you could do is for other people. By helping others, you're making your higher self know that you are so independent and strong that you can ease the suffering of others as well. Like, a parents child going off and becoming a healer or teacher. They are taking what they've learnt and spreading it the best way they can think of.

Ultimately, I'd say being happy is the best reward for your higher self

Dean.

Best thing you could give back to your Higher Self, like 26Taurus said, is to give thanks, but also make sure you listen to It where and when possible because It really is the best Guru you have and will guide you to the places, people and situations that will best benefit you.

You could start by adopting a slightly different attitude. You don't have to post here as a supplicant, requiring enlightenment. That forces other people into guru mode, not good for them or you. Why not try to shed a little light on things yourself?

I personally dont thin kyou can. I think you can take advantage of it though. B always ask, ask, ask, and take, take, take. I think that we needent be selfish and always remember to thank after and ask and take... i tyhink more or less treat it with the same common courtesy as you'd show your peers.

Maklhouf : Whats with that? Everyone comes here to learn and share experiences. And asking is learning. Theres no such thing as a dumb question. I think she was trying to gather more opinions from others on the questions asked. I know most people try to solve things their self and then look to outside resources when they hit a rough spot.

No never! It is part of a collective consciousness. The more you work it the better. It is not material and can never wear out. How you use it and what you do with it is up to you. Please remember that spirit is one thing and matter something else. People think that matter is characteristic of life. Actually it is spirit and not matter that is characteristic of life. Use it wisely.

That too, using it wisely...how? And yes, Maklhouf, I know what you said is true, and I did ask myself a bit, but I still wnated to see what you all thought. Sides, I'm a libra. Everyone's opinion matters to me. But how do you listen to your higher self? Is it like stopping once in a while and tuning in? I've done a bit of the automatic writing, (really fun by the way, I do it with my eyes closed, and write down every thought that pops in my head--problem is, i never know if I'm making it up, or if it really is my higherself responding)

Anyway, thank you all. It helped, and I'll think more on it. And you are all very very good gurus. The best a girl could have

Never stop asking questions sweetie...I You.
You've brought many questions to the surface, you've made all of us think, and question, and spiral all the way to the top!

You have a healthy curiosity, and your passion to learn is what makes me smile everytime I see a post from you.
Keep them coming.

I'm glad you asked this question because lately I've been struggling with the concept of higher self. What are your opinions of the higher self? Is it simply our "higher consciousness?" or our conscience being aware of what's right. Is it our connection to God?...
What then is our soul? Do we have connection to it? and how much of this self that we have here on earth is part of this "soul?"
Let me know if you think I need to start a new topic on this, I don't want to intrude on Christina...'s topic.

Hey, Kat, don't bother starting a new thread. This is fun, I was beginning to feel this post has gone stale...

I think our higherselves are truly a part of ourselves...maybe? Except a part of us that is so much more then we are now? I don't think it's just a conscience, I think it's...more. More magical, and much greater, then just our thoughts. I like to think of my higher self, as a guardian angel, just so I would feel as if there is always someone watching over me, and guiding me, and waiting for me to listen. Have you read Star Signs? I think you might find some answers there. I really don't know myself. Except I've been doing some experiments (Not quite sure what that has to do with this) but I've been seeing how much control I have over my body. My mind, I mean. I think I can control when my period ::embarrass:: should come, and perhaps control whether or not I should be sick. And I think what is helping me control is my Higher Self. I think...

How do you use your higher self wisely? You use your will power as positive implementation. Your will power, to put it simply, is your free will.

Your higher self knows what is best for you. If you have a desire, lay before that higher power ( that is your freewill in motion) do it in a positive manner and your higher power WILL be alerted. Remember sometimes we feel we are ready when we are not. This is a good way to use your higher self and ask for positive direction. All action creates movement. It will never, ever run out.
