hey lotusheart ~i respect what you do....how you live Linda Goodman's words in such a heartfelt way....i believe she knew whereof she spoke, and i salute you for exercising her truth... you have a lovely heart. and while i believe wholeheartedly in this way, still, i would pay for esoteric work...i have, and i will.....i hope this gives a little back to the universe as well....and helps add to the knowledge that love in the universe is boundless... blessings, Hedgewitch IP: Logged |

Ive never had to pay for such teachings myself, everything Ive learned has been from like minded people and one or two spirit friends...I was gonna pay for reiki classes, but thats all Id have to pay for because every other base is covered by friends yay! Id have no problem handing over cash for books I really feel I can learn from, or for a good psychic reading... Im making that choice myself, nobody runs over to me and demands money for a piece of knowledge! If you are a very psychic person and you do readings for people, I feel you should be paid for your services for thats what it is... a service! Just the same as any other service society deems as worthy of receiving payment

I think if the teacher is collecting money for a cause. Such as his favourite charity or Katrina or such things, I do not mind paying. However if its direct, then I would think twice.

Oops everyone is silent after my thought.Let me give an example from top of my head, I hope I don't spoil the original story...: Once Buddha went begging for food. A man opened the door and said why don't you work, you are healthy? Buddha replied sure he is working. That of teaching others. (History proves how successful he was) You see such teachers are justified? Also Buddha did not ask for money. May be as long as his basic needs of food and clothe was satisfied he was OK. But in these times, we pay rent, we need to pay for heat/utilities or we may die. So it may be OK to ask for money by a genuine teacher.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY YOUR TEACHERS. THEY JUST SHOW UP. I had this employer. She had really unskilled behavior. Everyone who knows her who didn't work for her think she's great, but they never knew how her personal insecurities manifested themselves though a mouth and attitude that swore like a teenaged boy. She intentionally wore slutty clothes when particular clients showed up, sexually harassed a co-worker, was married to her business partner who was mostly likely a gay man and well-- his behavior was that of a worrywart fearbased penny pincher. THEY WERE MY TEACHERS AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY THEM ANYTHING TO TEACH ME. only accept being paid at the poverty level. I wised up and now I'm getting paid double!----somewhere else.IP: Logged |

TO ALL WITH LOVE! Jesus said, "let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the all." Jesus said, "Recognize what is in your sight, and that which is hidden from you will become plain to you. For there is nothing hidden which will not become manifest." From "The Gospel of Thomas"

I posted this thought once long ago on some thread relating to teachers:I’d like to talk about the appearance of teachers in our lives and about the spiritual path in general. Linda Goodman was right about one thing…you are your own guru. That doesn’t mean that other teachers don’t come along…just that your main teacher is you. That is why you have chosen the incarnation that you perceive. Every single second that you spend perceiving a physical world around you, your teacher is present. Everyone you meet, everything you see or hear, everything you touch or feel or eat, is there to teach you something. The trick for you is to figure out what you are supposed to learn from each encounter. A beggar on the street, a professor in a University, a Holy person from whatever religion, the friend you’ve known all your life and the child next door are all equally important as teachers and equally valuable to your search for the light. As for some teachers being good and some bad, I don’t really buy into that. Everything we can possibly imagine has issued from the original thought and word of the Creator. Good, bad, light, dark, holy, evil, all are labels and perceptions that change according to whom you talk. All are here to help us discover one thing…the light within ourselves. Even if one shines like a beacon, it is difficult to see in the daytime. The darkness is necessary for us to witness how our light shines forth. Also, all paths lead to God. There are many people out there who are convinced that they have found the one and only path to God. They believe it with all their hearts and they feel driven to show others the path and convince them of its singular qualities. Follow them or don’t, as your heart directs you, but realize that incarnation here is not a test. It is a field trip. There is no way to fail, only experiences to be presented. When wise ones speak of fate or destiny, they do not mean that you are pre-destined to move to Minneapolis, they mean that all things, all creatures, all thoughts, all souls, are manifestations of the one soul…the soul of God. Our bodies may be dust to dust, but our spirits are God to God (actually, even the dust returns to God eventually). All things return to God in the end, all paths lead to God, there is nothing that is not God. Jesus (and quite a few others) said that the Kingdom of God is within you. It is up to you to find it. If that requires a bit of darkness so that you can see your own beacon, so be it. In some thread here in Lindaland long ago (I can’t remember which one) there was a discussion about how you can tell Knowledge form Belief. I might be mistaken, but I think it was StarLover who said something to the effect that when someone is trying to convince you of anything, they are operating out of Belief. Those operating out of Knowledge don’t care if they convince you or not. I thought that was quite brilliant. It should help you tell within yourself whether you are coming from a place of Knowledge or a place of Belief in any given subject. One last thing…there is an old adage about teachers of the True Eternal Mysteries Of The Universe. It goes something like this…”Those who know do not speak. Those who speak do not know.” That isn’t because the truly knowledgeable ones are hogging up all the cool knowledge and selfishly refusing to share it with the world. It is because some things are impossible to explain. At one time in my life, I worked with blind children. It was totally impossible to explain to them what the colour purple looked like or how light creates diamonds on a snowy field. There was simply no frame of reference for them to connect to. It is the same with many spiritual truths. That is why the satori…the moment of enlightenment…the cosmic connection to the mind of God, exists. In those moments, your eyes are suddenly opened. You see purple for the first time. And ever after that, even if your eyes are closed or you are in the darkest of rooms, you still know all about purple (or the mind of God). Those moments always come to us when we are ready, and not one second before. It would be useless to try to present Algebra to one who has not yet learned to count, and we are all blind children when we begin our lives. That is a gift to us. How much fun would it be to play Hide and Seek if, when you stopped counting and turned around, everyone in the game was standing right there? No fun at all. That would make for a very boring field trip. All the teachers, all the moments of enlightenment, are right there, hidden like Easter Eggs or laughing children, waiting for you to find them. My advice is to have fun looking.
