Ra and Mercury brought up some information on the core of the Earth that got me thinking about shamanism again. I was recently exposed to shamanism through an educated Aquarian woman who does soul retrievals... has a pamphlet and everything hehe, so I read about half of three different books she recommended and a lot of it really disturbed me. I don't know this woman, just was given her number to talk about alternative careers. I think a lot of my issues had to do with the symbolic exploration of the "under" world and the communication with "lower" beings, which I think is generally not a good idea, at least for myself at this time. I know this is a controversial subject, and I know that I don't know all there is to know about the subject so I would like to hear from all of you. I thought that Ra's comments, that the center of the Earth is light, helped me to see exploring the "underworld" in a different way but then Mercury mentioned that that "light" could be pretty hot and destructive so I swayed back in the other direction. I know that there is a lot to this subject, and I have heard many opinions on it, but I think I am missing a key here. IP: Logged |

Hi MysticMelody!I am glad you brought this up. I recently started taking a Shamanic Astrology class and had my chart read by a Shamanic Astrolger. I really don't know much about Shamanism at all so am curious what others will say. Below is a link that hopefully explains what Shamanic Astrology is: http://www.shamanicastrology.com/defsa.htm http://shamanicastrology.net/modules/wiwimod/index.php?page=TomLescher&PHPSESSID=113cd5d71c86715dc69efb91d3de6908 I would be curious to know what books you have on this subject. Thanks, Noreen IP: Logged |

ok, just did some reading on this.....did you by chance take any classes from this woman? I can definately see where you are coming from as far as your concerns with connecting to the underworld. I think it would take someone who has a great deal of spiritual strengh & knowledge to do this type of work.IP: Logged |

Hi NoreenZ I didn't take any classes from her. I'm a psych major and I was looking into going in the direction of spiritual psychology and one of my advisors gave me her name. I contacted her and she told me what course of study she took and explained a little about her hobby/business. I told her I would like a pamphlet so she sent it in the mail. The pamphlet listed 3 books to read before you met with her to do a soul retrieval. Two were seemed very positive and were by the same woman. The oldest book was black with pictures of aligators and demonic faces surrounding the shaman on the front. I had ordered these through the inter-library lending system and the black book came first, so I read a lot of that one first. I'm not one to immerse myself in black books but everything with the woman had been uplifting to that point, and I am very open minded so I decided to explore it. The book told the story of a person's journey, meeting a tribe with shamans and the use of mind altering substances to achieve the trance state. The suthor mentioned that he just did that to be respectful to the tribe and that he believes in reaching the trance state without using anything etc. etc. blah blah blah. I was dealing pretty well with the book, found it interesting. When he described his trance journeys they seemed pretty negative, he was usually worried about being harmed etc and the beings were beings that he compared to DNA. They were very reptilian mind. It was, in it's manner, "enlightening" information, but since I've always felt the most reliable information source is a "higher" or wiser being, I wasn't entirely comfortable consulting a really low vibration being to find "enlightenment." On the other hand (has anybody guessed my sign yet? ) I understand that possibly, just as much can be learned from exploring the mysteries of a grain of sand as can be learned from exploring the outer reaches of our universe... so.... In the end, I find it disturbing, but I am open to understanding more without completely immersing myself into it's teachings.IP: Logged |

My psychology lectures reek of the sagittarian vibe. Everyone is laughing all the time and my professor is constantly making jokes. I popped into a 2nd year psych lecture once for fun. Probably even more in that class. Both profs MUST be sagittarians, they just have to be. They've got the top-teeth-showing-bottom-teeth-not sagittarian grin, they walk with a rhythmic bounce, and they're both tall and lanky. I swear to God, every 1st year student I know who is a sagittarius is taking psychology. Every single one...IP: Logged |

okay so Aqua rising...... instead of Moon. or would it be Pisces rising?Honestly, the Leo vibe is that you remind me somewhat of my beautiful kindred Zala, who, like me, has Leo rising, but she is a Libra sun, which I figured you had, so I thought you had perhaps another commonality with her.... and myself.. but scratch that. You are very airy when you express things. But maybe you are grounded with Moon in Earth?

No, I am a *don't cringe too much* Scorpio with Leo rising and Capricorn Moon. So I guess Capricorn is your Ascendant and Moon as well.... I have Libra Mercury and Pluto, both in my third house.IP: Logged |

That's right, I read that you were Scorp somewhere. I get along with Scorps well because they have that "tolerate" the sign before you thing going on. hehe I have lessons to learn.... You inspired me to pull out the Star Signs. I haven't even looked at it in probably 5-7 years and didn't fully understand it when I first tore into it years ago. Her version of numerology is all that I have been exposed to and I am mixing it all up now. I will have to go over it again. IP: Logged |
