I read the book 2 years ago and I loved it.

Saw the movie and it did nothing for me.

When you look at the time during a movie you know you wasted your money.

Boy, was I disappointed in this movie.

Just wondering how everyone else liked it or not?

I was just going to ask if anyone has seen the movie! I haven't yet, but have read the book! LOVED THE BOOK!
It's not unusual to know that the film fails where the book surpasses!

I agree...I enjoyed the book, as well.

The movie was not all that great! The book is much better....

Cheers,

Not true. Say Lord of the rings, Harry potter, etc..

The book was nice as it made you think differently. The movie may have sucked because of Tom Hanks wierd hairdo. I neither read the book nor watched the movie though so my $.2 may not be worth it

I went to see the movie at the weekend and thought it was great. Really enjoyed it but then I haven't read the book.

A work colleague, who had read the book, wasn't so impressed.

I'm only a little way into the book and have just seen the film, and I'm finding it hard to get into the book enough to enjoy it but I loved the film.

Don't know why I can't seem to loose myself in the book? I think it might be something to do with the short choppy chapters - I find just as I'm getting into one it stops and I'm shunted along against my will Just my reaction to his writing style I suppose but love the story and the way it's got everyone discussing and examining this subject more closely

I liked yhe movie, just not as much as the book. Its just a difficult plot to turn into a movie, w/o losing the audience. Imagine if they had included all of the crptex puzzles scenes. yawn (:

LOTR and Harry Potter are the few exceptions to the rule...

I read the book last year, and saw the movie last week.

Both were good, and the movie followed the book to a T.

Actually, I liked Tom's hair in the movie, I dont' see why they made a deal about his hair?

I thought the movie was so bland compared to the book. It also drove me nuts because the people sitting on either side of me had not seen the movie, as they gasped and turned away when they showed Silas with his Celise belt, and then commented and laughed at Bizu Fache's name.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but the book rocks! It is pretty hard to match a good book when they make a movie out of it, and yeah, I can't relate to Tom Hanks in the role either!

I have read the book a couple of years ago and I am kind of contemplating if I should re-read it before seeng the movie. You couldn't make heads ot tails out of the last Harry Potter movie if you haven't read ther book.

Most of the time books are better with the BIG exception of LOTR. The only instance when I couldn't decide was "The Green Mile" .

I'm waiting to see it too, this weekend!! I actually re-read the book (since I first read it a year ago), so I'll (hopefully) be able to enjoy it more, since I don't think the movie will be able to cover all the stuff in the book; there's too much there!

I can't WAIT to see how they do this one, since a whole lot of the book goes into flashbacks of Langdon teaching class or Sophie remembering her childhood.

Haven't read the book....yet!

But I did watch the movie, and must say I did enjoy it. Can't recall having any regrets while I was in the theatre. May have felt differently if I read the book though.

Funny, I had thought about discussing the numbers of the book title 'The Da Vinci Code' but that never happened. I wondered whether all this had been talked about here since the novel was out three years ago.

THE DA VINCI CODE:
Compound number: 18
Single number: 9

Perhaps they explain the book's phenomenal best-selling?

I only came across it a couple of months ago. Couldn's resist the temptation and had a look at the first few pages of it at the bookshop. Thought the writing was dodgy. But somehow everytime I stopped by the bookshop I would read it on. Eventually I decided that I wanted to read the entire story and finish it right before the film premiered (I had apprx. two weeks left).

I finished 'Code' within 11 days. There must be some kind of magic (black magic, I even suspect) in that novel which makes it so very intriguing to me, and obviously, to many others. The movie was a huge disappointment- I had been expecting it to be better than the book, but it turned out to be even worse.

The book was very easy-to-read, and many people fell in love with it...doesn't make sense, must be magic. The flick- Ron Howard's worst ever.

May not be able to get back to you...appreciate your say nevertheless...D

Haven't seen the movie yet, but couldn't put the book down!! I love Tom Hanks, but I visualize someone else as Robert Langdon in my mind's eye.....

I couldn't put down Dan Brown's other 3 books either, especially Angels & Demons -- there were a LOT of late nights that year

Hope you can sink your teeth into the story, choppy chapters or nay, CG!

Many things are left out in the movie or changed....so, the movie was a let down for me... just dont think Ron Howard did it justice...and in my opinion, Tom Hanks wasnt the right lead... just a box office name, which was actually not necessary, because everyone would see this movie (no matter who would have been in it), IF they read the book and hadnt been living on the moon the last few years.

Leonardo always attracts attention..he is the real draw. Big picture of Mona Lisa on the poster and only a few seconds of her in the movie... Way too much was left out of the movie...even the end was different, as Sophies brother is found in the book... but seen on its own the plot still makes sense... just disappointing.

Definitlely needed more Leonardo and art and creative iconography of painters thrown in. That in itself is a fascinating subject. Cant help it had to study art history in university and it is mind boggling what went on in the art world.

... and I did look at my watch several times hoping Tom would just hurry up and find the thing so I could go home.... not enough "Lisa". She is worth a movie all on her own.

Nova ~ Boy, you said it! I agree with everything you said. Actually, they did seem to "hint" that the young man following Sophie and Robert around the church was her brother (to those who read the book), although they didn't come right out and say it.

I dont plan to see the movie again... and dont recall that the brother was suggested at the end... by that time I didnt care anymore. IF it is suggested it is likely a savvy business move to make a sequel... yikes!... but that is how Hollywood makes the big bucks. I noticed the book because Da Vinci was in the title. Dan Brown did not have any picture of Mona Lisa on the original cover. I had an art gallery at the time it came out and sold it there and only two copies went out the door although I urged people to read it.... then wooosh it was the flavor of the year. I read the historical books it was based on years ago and I thought the author did a great job. He was entertaining us , not writing another history book. More power to authors like him that make us think a bit, teach a little at the same time and cause some introspection in the world. He well earned his success. His other books may sell, but I repeat it was the link with Leonardo that set this book above the others.... Wasnt he amazing? Maybe I will start a link about him, I have studied him for ages and he is fascinating as well as inspiring... and appears to be a gentle genuinely kind man as well!
