My father has turned to God after being an aethiest for all of his life...

It took the death of my mother for him to believe in a "divine presence" as he called it..

He said to me on the phone the other day "God is with us". Yesterday I was asking him about my mothers funeral arrangements and he said she would be cremated but with a small stone in the church where they married. He said when it was time for him to pass, he would have one next to her. I said to him "you are going to have a humanist funeral arent you....that is what you always said Dad"..

He said he had changed his mind....

As I heard these words all the stress drained from my body. I have been praying for years that before he passed he would feel the presence of God...he has been such a tortured man at times....not having anywhere to turn in times of despair....

When I put the phone down I wept......for him......and all those years he missed out on spiritual nourishment...

And then I got down on my knees and thanked God...

Well the good thing is he has made peace with GOD some ppl never figure it out. I am happy that he figured it out while still on earth..

GOD is in control and he knew the time that he would convert your dad and what it may have taken to do so..When God wants something he gets it..

My mother was a very spiritual person, but he never was.

I am having a very harmonious relationship with him these days after having a very stormy one...I would bang the phone down on him and would tell me I had too much to say and that I knew too much!!

We dont need to scream and shout at each other these days....or need to prove who is right.

I think we have both grown up

If feels so good to have an equal and fulfulling relationship with my Dad....its what I always prayed for...

I spoke to Dad yesterday and he was in a terrible state...says he keeps calling for Mum and although he can feel her he cant hear her.

So I took a deep breathe and told him what I felt and what I had been told by a medium that Mum was going through a period of healing (in the healing hospital she said and that she would come back when ready...

He said "oh I hope she will talk to me"....he was sobbing when he said it.....a 79 year old man sounding like a 2 year old child...

Please pray for him knowflakes that he will connect with my mother when the time is right...

Lotus told me that Mum will "visit" me soon...and another medium told me she will be sitting on the edge of my bed soon....

I understand what you are saying....

Other people Ive spoken to say the same thing!

Maybe its a trust thing, a faith thing, a belief that all will be well if we sustain that faith..

My father always felt "unworthy" he possessed low self esteem and chose to be a cynic, a skeptic, but underneath it all it could have been his unworthiness which swayed his belief, as such. I talk to him more about this now he is older than ever.

I get the feeling his lack of faith in the past is because he dare not trust, in case he would be rejected, both by people and God.

Have been going out on a limb with him lately, chancing my arm, daring to go where I did not before.

He has even agreed to receive healing from me....something he never did before...

Maybe he is beginning to feel more worthy....and more loved...he doesnt seem to fear closeness as much as he did before or rejection.

We are all loved, very much, we just need to realise it...for some, it may take a lifetime to accept this....
