Geeeeeeeez!

This thread is beginning to collect some funky energy. I think I will go light a white candle and throw some acorns around my computer!!!!!!!!

Lotus, with all due respect, I wore a purple ribbon last Thursday and Friday to make a stance for freedom of religion. If I wanted to be "preached" to I would have gone to church this morning, but not wanting to be preached to is why I do not!

Killerweed

Guess you have received many different opinions regarding MAGIC!

I have to say I think I'm with Fayte here, that the powers that be will provide protection and the right situations.

Hippi I don't think there's anything wrong with using protective/healing magic, I was just being a bit over philosophical, but I think that thru the ritual you are maybe asking for a little extra help, and thats ok. If nothing else it can be very psychologically comforting.

Ok one more statement then I am outta here

Blue, please do not patronize me (psychologically comforting!! you know NOTHING about me!) I am not a Wiccan because I do not LIKE ritual. I do not practice ANY religion. I am a peaceful being who minds my own business and spreads love, light and peace where I can and in my job as a transplant ICU RN I get pleanty of opportunities. And just so that you know, I would rather see some of the ancient healing techniques used instead of the horrible crap the medical industry puts people through.

As stated earlier, I use folk magic sparingly. And personally I would rather burn a candle than toxify my system with man made medicines, for example.

Folk magic, as I said earlier has been used for way longer that any of us have been around and is merely a tool as is Astrology, using lexigrams to find the deeper meaning of a word, I could go on and on, but will not spend anymore of my energy on this ridiculous subject.

Fayte, you have presented yourself as a fine lady once again, thank you.

I feel like I have been judged and burned at the steak as the practitioners of HARMELSS folk magic were 4 centuries ago.

Ladies, gents

Am outta here!

I hadn't yet seen your last post hippichick.
I was just being goofy.

I'm not sure what to say or if I should say anything...but from here it didn't seem like BR was being patronizing, nor saying anything against Wiccan belief.
Anyone who truly knows what Wiccans are about, knows it isn't about selfishness, but is more about gratitude, love and respect.
But because a lot of people are ignorant to it's true meaning, and only know instead of the stereotypes of it promoted throughout history, it does attract people who are only attracted to it for selfish motivations. "oooh, look at me. Aren't I witchy?" "or aren't I cool?"
Thankfully there are many who are true Wicans and understand and practice its true meaning. There are some phonies is all. That's true of most any religion.
But that doesn't mean the religion in itself is "selfish".
It all depends on a person's intent.

It was a joke, Lotus.
A way of saying, "don't get me stahted on bubbles again."

I guess I have a tendency to go on 'bubble-rants', so I was refraining myself.

Gotta run for now.

I "think know what you are saying." Folk magic is to me a healing tool. Attracting neutral energy or using natural neutral energy to heal and comfort ourselves and others.
Not the same thing as spell casting, or "forced magic".

Thanks BlueRoamer.
I hope I do not upset hippichick
But I know what you mean too.

Some folks THINK the tool IS DOING the Magic. Some folks think it will not work without the right candle and so forth.
Using a tool as a FOCUS ONLY...that I do understand.
I think that is what hippichick meant.
But yeah, if you think NEED the tools, you are limiting your self.

I hope I made sense.

I agree. There are some phonies just like everything... But I do have many Wiccan friends. Their love for nature is admirable. In fact, I have learned much from them.

I agree with Fayte. People should not mess with magic if they do not know what they are doing. I do not see anything wrong with using magic, and only if one knows how, if it is used for PROTECTION. BUT NEVER FOR HARM

I think I heard someone call my name here...

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

The question is have we tried any spells and did they backfire on us?
I was in a marriage with a violent partner who had a friend who encouraged his dark (to my perception) side. The friend worked construction, wore a red bandana for sweat, and often stopped by after work to see my husband. One day i got hold of that bandana and began to feed "energy&stuff" into it. I did some things ( small ritual things first). The friend of my husband developed flu like symptoms, unrest, and other "small" bothersome stuff. It did not slow down what I considered the bad enablement he cause my husband in my perception so i took it a few steps forward and his discomforts became worse and sometimes a lot worse. As time passed, years actually, i made less use of the object but had it non-the-less. During this time I had a beloved dog that gave birth to her one puppy the exact time i gave birth to one of my children. The puppy was beautiful and a loved pet. It liked to play, so I would sometimes throw the "relic" to it around the yard and let the pup tear into it awhile. It was a "soft-mouthed" dog. My husband and I were getting along better, my child was healthy, we had a nice lttle home and yard, a cute smart puppy, nice neighborhood, too. Not all was idyllic but pretty good.
It was an early winter evening with one of the first snows. I felt good. It was time for the paperboy to come by. He was a nice boy. I let the puppy out-we lived on a dead end street with one side on another street. For some reason, I threw the bandana relic out the door, into the yard and th pup chased it. It was smaller and torn up, rather small and ragged by now. I turned away from the door and walked to the kitchen for a brief time. There was a knock on the door. It was the paperbays mom. The pup had swallowed the last of the "magicked" bandana. For some reason the pup then ran toward and into the side street, got hit and killed by a car. It all occured directly in front of the innocent young paper boy. I lost a truly sentimental living being and the bandana relic was no more.
Think twice or stung thrice!

Great advice, hippychick!

Tuxedo,
My feeling is that you can do a spell to protect yourself but not to cause harm to the other person.......so, if the friend had simply moved away, etc..... I don't think it would have come back negatively.

Killerweed, don't even think of hexing anyone....very, very bad idea.
