I agree with you...
some times the most toxic people are the ones in pain and suffering -- hurting -- and sometimes they ALLOW you to assist them -- and sometimes they are so addicted to the drama they won't allow themself to change... Larry King had a panel of experts on a while back that spoke of this...

there are no coincidences really...

this is the 1st time i come to this part of LL - i am usually on astrology.

this thread pulled my eye,and why?

after reading it i realised:

the garbage trucks relating to toxic people?GREAT ANALOGY!

i am reading Eckart Tolle´s book.and also Celestine Prophecy.

this totally fits,as it is said there that:

-Life is suffering:unless you let go your Egoic Mind ( your ego dies),and to make that we must not take things personally.

- we all have control patterns:the intimidating one-the inquisitor one-the victim one - the distant one.

goes from the most active one ( who threatens to captivate the other´s attention/energy,,onto the most passive one - the distant-where we distance too much from the other, for him/her to keep digging and keep their energy/attention centered on us.

-If we keep being garbage trucks ( by taking other´s energy through the control pattern behaviour), we will be feeding our Egos ( egos want us to be always worrying, negative, depressive,in need of something or someone...).

Like Buddha said;once you realize that you are not your Ego,and you just ARE,you will forever be free.

and life will not be the suffering you throught it was.

in conclusion:

the best way to BE YOURSELF/INNERSELF is not to resist the Ego,and let it Be.

Let it Be.Let it Go.Dont take things personal.

others will always try that, but if you are aware of their Ego´s control, you will know that they are indeed....innocent/Pure within...So forgive them and wish them well, cause it is their Ego´s fault.

I understand the motivation to label people "garbage trucks" in order to have your realization and keep things moving, but, ultimately, it seems insensitive to me, and I think there is a kinder way to look at it. I don't see garbage trucks. I see Christs. I see people carrying crosses. Some people's crosses are very heavy. Too heavy for them to carry alone, and they don't appear to be getting the help they need. They grunt and yelp and wimper under the weight, as any of us would. Sometimes these grunts can appear vicious or mean-spirited, but we know better. We know they're just temporarily absorbed in the carrying of their cross. So, whether we smile and wave, or offer some firm yet gentle words of understanding, we can do it from a place of genuine compassion and respect for their struggle. Seeing them as garbage trucks sounds too much like judging them, and acting kind just to avoid the conflict sounds a lot like patronizing them. I just think there is a better way. There are no toxic people. But there are people who have made sacrifices. We should respect their sacrifices and be grateful for the graces we've received. That's how I see it.
