Art for art's sake is art, no less; as capable of reaching the divine. Beauty, like every jewel in the Sefiroth, reflects, in its highest expression, all the other virtues. Similarly, thought for thought's sake is still capable of attaining that exalted condition found among the most disciplined and consciously directed operations of intellect. There is a light within the medium (if I may speak of art itself, and of thought, as mediums) that shines brighter than all the uses it may be put to, or all the objects it may be said to illuminate. Life itself furnishes the eternal themes, and no brush touches a canvas but touches upon these great and eternal verities. What we paint is immaterial; what matters is that we paint well. Light makes everything beautiful, and, while we may not be capable of polishing a turd, we can still see to it that the turd is well-lit. And who does not know that there is something deeply, profoundly gratifying in dignifying a turd? But we discard turds, and depict golden cups, scepters, swords, because it is easy to dignify these things, and easy, with their help, to inspire the exalted states. I wonder, though, if we do a disservice to the light, which, alone, could be our object of reverence, and whose authority is most readily observed in contrast with what is small; turd-like. What other meditation transmutes so much darkness into light, as that which begins in the depths (in the most remote and disagreeable places), and brings only the light? How quickly, magically, the clear eye is able to illuminate, and raise everything to its level! It has only to open, and look.

How does your mind reach from here: quote: Art for art's sake is art, no less; as capable of reaching the divine
to here: quote: we may not be capable of polishing a turd, we can still see to it that the turd is well-lit
LOL!! Very entertaining, as well as profound!IP: Logged |

Are you kidding??lol? This must be have a deeper meaning.... I'll have to meditate on that turd and see if I can find it... Just think HSC, until I read your words, I was so unenlighted as to think a turd is but a turd.(lol) I just can't stretch my imagination to think that there is anything remotely gratifying about dignifying a turd. Assuming that it is even possible. But you are more profound than I so I will entertain the thought.... IP: Logged |

That was profound. I especially like this part: quote: Light makes everything beautiful, and, while we may not be capable of polishing a turd, we can still see to it that the turd is well-lit.

Should've know this would degenerate into stupid fart jokes. But I was attempting to make an important point, for the adults present. Everything about the world, nature, and the body, is natural. We have been conditioned to see certain things as ugly, even shameful. My point is that we can transcend this conditioning. No, not by cracking dumb jokes, which only vent our nervous discomfort. While I am busy finding divinity down here below, working to raise worldly things up to the celestial spheres, you are delighting in dragging heaven into the gutter. Why? And why are you in Universal Codes? If you just want to play around, go to Lindaland Central, and leave these things to the people who give a turd. IP: Logged |

I posted that before i read your last response.I appreciate your effort as maturity, but i stand by what I said. If you think so well of my writing, why hijack my thread with your childishness? IP: Logged |

I'm sorry, you don't see humor as divine? For one so insightful, I would think you could make that connection.IP: Logged |

I respectfully disagree. (unless it is malicious) I think humor regardless of intention brings us closer to the divine.IP: Logged |

Oh come now. Do we have to apologize? I was coming to know HSC as very insightful, deep and naturally spiritual. It was childish. But is that not also taking us closer to the divine, when we get in touch with our inner child? IP: Logged |

OMG! I would not laugh at you. I think there is a great deal to admire in your writings. Like I said before, all very beautiful. And you are obviously intellectual. Surely you can see that I was joking about my lack of understanding, hence intellect. Can you not?? IP: Logged |

Very well. I was misunderstood.I sincerly apologize. I honestly thought someone so enlightened and intellectually deep would have a great sense of humor. I guess I don't have to ask about that thing in your chart. You answered it for me. I really didn't mean to offend.

No, girl. For the most part, your tone appears sarcastic and passive-aggressive. Even your apology contains an insinuation about my lack of enlightenment. I can laugh as well as anybody, btw. And I've got an inner child like you wouldnt believe. But if Carlos Mencia is your idea of funny, no wonder you think I've got no sense of humor. My favorite comic is Louis C.K. and he's got some great bits about sh-t. But its out of place here. Its not even that what you did wasnt funny. Its more that it was just predictable. I had hoped we could rise above the predictable. That's all. IP: Logged |
