I guess I missed your OP, Violets. But I swear, that's quite close to what I've been wondering. How to be less sponge-like. To have some insulation. But without completely cutting off your feelings from all things. Like a protective bubble of sorts.

The trouble is if I try to do this, I cannot do it in a healthy way. I just close myself off entirely - or think I have - until it turns out, I was fooling myself. So, people see the shell, but they don't know that it's not really there.

For a long time I suppress and/or am unconscious of my feelings, until they explode out of the blue in unexpected ways. And there's usually no going back.

Sorry to derail, but I do think it's all connected. How to develop those psychic defenses without turning into a zombie or stomping on your instincts.

perhaps you know this already, but here it is just in case.

For psychic defense:
say mentally or out loud, you may need to do it many times until it sinks in
"I deny to any person whatsoever the power to influence me psychically without my consent.
I neutralize them by this denial."

Also you must refuse to admit any fear of other persons influence,as this is the opening to their influence. The above denial must be made in full belief of its truth.

For holding onto malice, and in reality your pain/hurt from what happened:
1. forgiveness - say out loud - I forgive x for xyz, I release him/her from my life, I wish him/her all the best and much love. Farewell.
2. If this doesnt work, as it was in my case bc the pain was too deep, try this;
imagine the person standing in front of you and saying to you : what could I do in order for you to forgive me ?;
then you say, scream whatever is on your mind/or what you need them to do eg. say sorry for what you've done etc
after you had released all your anger, pain, anything, imagine they are asking for your forgiveness and do nr 1 again
This is from Louise Hay book 'You can heal your life'.

A last note, sometimes we make pacts with people, we say for eg I will love you forever, or I am only yours, or I will never forgive you this etc etc not realising that these create invisible energetic (emotional) connections, like strings, that stay in place forever. These could be why you feel things coming from these people,good or bad, even when they are no longer part of your life.
You must cut these invisible connections if they no longer valid or they feel hurtful. There is a prayer to Archangel Michael to help cut these or , if you're not a praying person, you may do it yourself by stating an intention in similar way as for psychic protection above.

If you still feel stuff coming your way, bc you're an empath or clairsentient, it helps to ask yourself - is this emotion mine? The moment you get an answer internally that its not, it will slide off you so to speak.

I hope I made sense, merc rx is not helping my comms at the mo..

^ I do like a lot of what you said there.

Unfortunately, I'm not particularly forgiving even with small things (yes, I do get my feelings hurt very easily, which leads to a certain level of wrath with my thinking). If someone were to ask me what they could do in order for me to forgive them, my answer could very well be something really horrid (usually along the lines of feeling what I'm feeling, in some capacity). And that feeling can last for years.

I actually had a really good psychic recently pick up on the fact that I have two sides, which she compared to Cain and Abel. She's right. The negative comes out mostly in thought and in words, but it's there nonetheless. The not-so-awesome sides of Pluto, BML, and H8, I guess.

But, if I follow the first part of your advice, the second part (forgiveness) might come more easily.

Sorry I missed you, Elysia.

Basically most of the self-help stuff I tune into goes by the premise that we can operate in one of two modes, egoic or spiritual. Egoic is the past and future, spiritual is now. If, right in this moment, you can drop everything on your mind, recalibrate, go at life as if it's brand new, your body energy responds very sensitively and positively to that. That is the spiritual mode of being. Everything in the past ceases to affect us emotionally anymore...the more we strengthen our ability to stay present. Even believing we have this option at any given time can be soothing enough...I was like that for years before stepping it up a little and practicing more.

When we are fully present with people we aren't zombies, we're likely to be joyful, creative, good listeners. Because all there is, is right now. We are coming to them from a different place than before, more like channeling universal love than just "being ourselves"...though, it's not to say that being ourselves is bad ....but there are pitfalls with an egoic mental orientation.

I don't mean to preach and I know Violets doesn't like Eckhart Tolle.

But in some ways Tolle just repackages and elaborates upon ideas that are pretty common in the New Age canon. For instance, I'm reading Louise Hay's book You Can Heal Your Life (mentioned above). Much of her work is predicated on the belief that we can reprogram ourselves by becoming new each moment. Abandoning self-defeating beliefs about ourselves. Starting fresh every day.

That's the basic gist of it...

Cheers, all.

Eh, Tolle.

We all have our paths, and I'm glad that you get something from reading his stuff.

Yeah, I see what you mean..
Guess it'll take time to internalize that sort of lesson... Especially the part about consciously re-programming better instead of worse modes in oneself.

Like, when you have panic attacks and you tell yourself to focus on trying to find that place deep inside you, where there's stillness. And peace. Like some bedrock at the bottom of the ocean. It seems too far down to reach. I sometimes make progress by pointing out to myself that 'being sensitive' is giving people too much control over what I feel. That sets alarm bells ringing. Control, you say? Pluto, kicked into action, is like, no way. --*I* decide to be happy. Eff you.-- Doesn't always work, but.. worth a try, eh?

It does look like one.. But according to the name of the image, that's a beaver. Notice the teeth?
