Kitten Born With Two Faces UPDATED: 10:11 am EST March 10, 2005 LAKE CITY, Fla. -- When Teresa Morrison's cat had a litter Tuesday, she noticed something was different about one of the kittens."I thought it had growth on its face," she said. The kitten has two mouths, two noses and four eyes. She immediately called her veterinarian. "He said he's never seen it. Never," Morrison said. The kitten is nursing from its mother, which the vet said is a good sign. "(She's) feeding off one mouth now; sometimes go to the other one, but he's not getting it open," Morrison said. The vet told Morrison he didn't know if the cat has one or two brains, but having one would give the cat a better chance to survive. He said if the kitten lives 48 hours, he has a good chance of living a full life. Wednesday morning, Morrison named the cat "Deuce." Wow. The mother cat probably drank some contaminated water or something, for the defect to occur. I hope the kittie does okay. IP: Logged |

Ahhh, bless her.Is this kitten actually a siamese kitten, or is it too early to know exactly? I hope she grows strong and lives to feel happiness. All I ask is the guardians of this kitten will watch her carefully to see whether or not she is physically comfortable in this temple-body or not. I'm sure you will. Let's hope she will live a healthy, fulfilling life in the cat-world! However, if this mutation is going to cause the kitten to have endless ailments...... You know what I'm trying to say? Blessed Be IP: Logged |

Oregon Cat Born With Two FacesThursday, June 16, 2005 (06-16) 19:57 PDT Roseburg, Ore. (AP) -- A newborn kitten recently entered the world with two faces and, hopefully, at least nine lives. Gemini was born Sunday with two mouths, two tongues, two noses and four eyes.
"I kind of feel sorry for her, because I can't know for a fact if she's going to live or die," its owner, Lee Bluetear of Glide, told the (Roseburg) News-Review. "If she makes it, she should be a perfectly normal and healthy cat. Other than having two faces."
Roseburg veterinarian Alan Ross, who examined the kitten on Tuesday, said he can't estimate the kitten's life span. He said when he first saw the kitten, he wouldn't have given her more than a 10 percent chance of survival.
"With the three of our veterinarians here, we have a combined total of 50 years of experience," Ross said. "We have never seen anything like this."
Bluetear, 40, said Gemini is much stronger and drinking more milk than in its first few days. Ross said that if the kitten does survive, it might need surgery to remove the extra tissue in between its two mouths.
Bluetear has been breeding different kinds of animals, starting with dogs, since 1980. Roughly three years ago, she discovered a litter of smaller than normal kittens she calls "miniature cats."
She now has plans to market the miniature cats, which grow to about 4 pounds, on the Internet.
Gemini was born to a miniature mother and a full-size father.
"Everybody is totally amazed that this thing exists," Bluetear said.
