My partners doggy, Oscar, was left with his ex-wife 3 years ago (2 years after their divorce) and he hasn't been able to see him much since. My partner has known Oscar for 8 years, and I had the pleasure of living with him for 2. He was the most special puppy I have ever met, we had an instant bond. Even though my partner wanted visitation, things got cruel with his ex and she seldom let him see his baby that he'd cry over so often. It was so sad to see Oscar and his Daddy separated. But he had a great life, and I'm sure he was taken care of right until the end, he had angels watching him, for sure.
He was so intelligent, wise and such a warrior puppy.

Just the last few weeks we received a text message saying that he is not well (heart problems) and he may have to be put to sleep. The next day we were told he was scheduled to be put down at 6pm. That day I lit a candle for him and said a prayer that his ex would let my partner say good bye for the last time. When he got home from work, we got some news that when the vet arrived Oscar became jumpy and playful like a pup, and not that of a 14 y/o, so the Vet refused to inject him.
But sadly, we never got to see Oscar, and just last night we were told of his death and the directions to his resting place.

Here is a photo of him, he's about 13 y/o here:

I'm a children person myself but I'm always (happy) and amazed at how our pets become our kids. I know you've heard this already but get another puppy.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news! UGH that is so horrible to not be able to see your dog after you break up with someone!

I agree, you and your boyfriend should get a dog. There are so many looking for a home and you both have so much love to give and share with a dog! And I know Oscar would want you to!

Yeah, we should! My brother used to say "There's only one thing missing in your home, it's a little puppy running around!"
We've thought about it a lot. I would love to adopt one...

I will look into it.

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll

Ohhh SunChild ... so sorry to hear of the earthly loss of Oscar. He was beautiful and brave and I am sure his spirit will live on...
