I was in my mother's womb for 13 months before I was born into the world. My mother and I were happily going along our migration route, and we sensed that we were being followed. The dark shadows were getting closer, and we felt imminent danger. Suddenly the dark shadows increased in number and surrounded us. They came from under us, above us, all around us. They all came directly for me. They thrashed me, slammed me, and tried to drown me. For 6 hours I suffered a desperate struggle to stay alive with increasing exhaustion. My mother tried to help me, she slammed her enormous tail into them, and she also pushed me up to the surface so I could try and breathe some air. There were 50 of them. They were called Orca. I was only 6 months old, and after a few fatal bites, I succumbed to death. My mother was broken hearted, devastated, and had to continue along the migration route without me. How could my mother ever be the same? She had nurtured me, sustained me and loved me.
They ate my tongue and lower jaw; then they just left my body to drop to the abyss of the ocean floor.
I was a grey whale. I had known this world for only 6 months.

I just watched it on Blue Planet and felt a need to be a voice for the baby grey whale.

Nephthys, this story though heartbreaking was necessary to be shared... Thank you

Often times we [people in general] go about our daily lives unaware of all the sealife.

I really appreciate people like you who take the time to enlighten others to the 80% of our earths creatures.

I do so love whales.

As a mother myself and can't begin to imagine the sadness that this momma had to endure on her journey...

Sendin' love your way,

Thanks! Thanks for bringing this topic back up.

I can't imagine either........and people think animals have no feelings, no emotions. They really do experience grief.

Such a sad story, and it happens so often in the wild.
