We don't have Kmart where I live. It is a beautiful little lantern. So far the flies are just sitting around it , sunning themselves.

artlovesdawn,
Here in NW MI they are an invasive creature & many measures are put forth for boaters to help curb the invasion.
Also, here we have to report to the DNR ( Dept. of Natural Rescources)if we find them.

Yes, i have noticed again that lake huron is really clear this year. The last time it was like this was when the zebra mussels were peaking, i think it was around 6 or 7 years ago. The shells were everywhere, you had to wear water shoes in the lake or get cuts on your feet from the shells. But i don't notice the actual mussels, just the clear water.
P.S. I loved the clear water back then. When we would take the boat out you could see the bottom practically everywhere you went. You could see the rocks too and sometimes it got scary because you thought you were on rocks when they were actually pretty far down 7-8 feet or so.

Hi thirteen & fellow Michigander

I live on Lake Michigan and I have seen the difference as well. It is sad to see it weedy and murking up.

The news (last night) said Lake Superior is down 2 1/2 feet. The lowest ever recorded. Superior is the largest fresh water lake in the world and hat has scarey implications.

The mussels have infiltrated the inland lakes and now shoes are a given there as well

Yes ALD I think it is cruel. Better to swat than dehydrate, since the things do have to be got rid of. But I haven't time to chase them about so ....
