What you posted was:

A fallen rock was blocking a route in Afghanstan and EOD decided to blow it up. Camera captures a nest of wasps that were under the rock....they go crazy

I would not consider this animals in distress due to war.

perhaps you meant to post this?
Big Explosion Iraq 25th ID.....look at the dogs
Soldiers in Iraq blowing up a cache of weapons. Notice the dogs scared as heXl. *Even this was not an act of war, but rather some bored soldiers having fun. The dogs understandably are frightened.

" Even animals suffer during war " was your title so let's evaluate it shall we?

Less explored issues in the world of animal welfare are brought to the foreground during periods of war.
It begins with their use in combat and search situations around war-torn countries. Neglect, injuries and death in places such as abandoned zoos are also a common concern - at least to those who care about animals amongst the carnage of human war victims. In fact, millions more animals die from the causes of war than humans. For example, in the Afghan war during the 1990's, more than 75,000 animals were lost due to mines - that's over half of all animal livestock in Afghanistan.

Then there are the invisible but dramatic effects on wildlife, only realized some time after war when the armies have moved on. Disruption of habitats and migratory routes due to aircraft activity, bombing, ship's sonar and general artillery fire can destroy not only pockets of local wildlife but an entire species forever.

*Let us not forget our furry friends often lose thier best friend and caregivers who go off to war as well.

Do you have anything to add?

I hate other humans sometimes.

I remember I saw a picture of a horse in Afghanistan with a bullet in its leg. It was running.

Insects are nasty but I don't kill them.

Note: a fallen rock had blocked a path/road so they decided to blow up the rock to fix or remedy the problem. This is when these wasps were filmed. Not because of a war.

And yes, I agree using only these three catagories, I too, would classify this as an animal.

Society as a whole does look at insects as less desirable than say cats, dogs, horses, other humans, etc. Regarding thier life as much less important, even annoying and bothersome.

Perhaps this mentallity arrived with the biblical rathe of Locusts swarming?

Perhaps it is from the great catastrophic diseases like malaria which was carried by so many mosquitos?

What ever the case may be... Insects are necessary and overall good for our earth.
I'm sure most in this particular forum would agree to this.

The title subject however was:
Even animals suffer during war

Does anyone have anything more to add to this subject?

agreed

So what can we personally do to make this happen?

The most real action I've taken thus far has been to educate those within my reach.
Most especially my own children.

Is there something more than this that we can do to make a difference?
