Has anyone read Goobers lately!? Does it matter if Mary was raped by an Roman soldier? The fact is that magic exists, and by this it means that Gods and Marys will together decided to put Jesus in the womb of Mary. Is it so hard to believe that this kind of magic is possible? POW! There it is! "to each according to his faith" To become as children is to know that Jesus was born in a "now you see it now you dont" fashion. Just the same way Jesus appeared after he was supposed to dead and gone!

The conception, birth, life and death of Christ is more a matter of belief in faith, rather than scientific facts. For faith brings it all together. Faith in the entire Bible for that matter. If you have faith in the book, then you have no problem believe any of it's contents. I do, however, have questions about things in the Bible, but I pray for the answers, and if not answered right away, I have faith to believe that one day they will be answered. But, that's the simple beauty about Christianity as a whole...you accept Jesus and His teachings and the teachings of our Heavenly Father, and they, as the Godhead, provide the rest...

I like that ...alot.

Mary (not her real name btw)
Was NOT raped by anyone!
There was no immaculate conception!
No deific interventions.
Most everyone is not seeing the very obvious in these "stories"
It is being made overly complicated, fantastical, mythical, and all......
When in truth.....
it is all so fraking simple that it boggles my mind that virtually no one but an extreme few number of people,
can and do see beyond the myths, the religious hype and extreme exaggerations, concerning the lives of several very real and human folks living very human lives, and yes having human flaws, kinks, peccadilloes, urges, desires, obsessions, habits, addictions, and even sexual deviations and what some would see as perversions, and so forth.
They all had hunger, pain, took pleasure, had to p!ss and sh!te and breathe just like any human bodied folks!
Drop the mystical and myth and the truth is there hidden nigh on to in plain sight!
On that note...(changed Jesus here to Yeshua)
quote:
Yeshua said, "let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the all."
Yeshua said, "Recognize what is in your sight, and that which is hidden from you will become plain to you. For there is nothing hidden which will not become manifest."
From "The Gospel of Thomas"

LOL!
And even those words did not originally come from Yeshua!
Lets just say he had a "teacher", a human one....history has barely hinted at.

(Although I don't recall it mentioning the Nag Hamadhi Library....still...I don't think the Biblical story of "Jesus" is accurate at all, nor that it was his name...I think they took some words of a popular teacher and blended it together with other mythologies).

I just view the Bible as Christian mythology

In Greek myths, deities had children with mortals. They were known as demigods. Zeus had many children with mortal women Heracles and Perseus are perfect examples. Dionysus was also Zeus' son of a mortal woman, and he became one of the 12 Olympian deities.

Most of the mortal heroes in the Greek myths were demigods.

I do too.
I was wondering though how an imaculate conception could be possible. I wascompletely serious about exploring different theories about Jesus, Mary etc if their stories were looked at from the perspective that they did infact exist. Why not think of the possiblity without there being a religious context. Perhaps more of a physics/metaphysics and spiritual one.
I am completely serious about it.
I was wondering though did people find the concept of Jesus and Mary in existance or of Mary being a virgin or not funny? Is religion a hysterical concept to some? (I am a bordering atheist btw), Or was there a certain tone throughout the thread that was funny, just wondering...

Thanks for replying Glaucus!
