Once upon a time there was a brilliant and learned scholar. A genius of his times, who knew hundreds of thousands of lines of orthodox Islamic laws, rhetoric, treatises and nuances of every interpretation. All that fundamentalist knowledge, prestige and religious jurist ultimately taught him one thing: He was UNHAPPY. His life was a success, but his Soul was empty. He knew every ritual on worship of the orthodox Islamic idea of God, yet he never felt God's love. And then, he got enlightenment after a chance meeting with a dervish. He felt the Love of the real God, than an orthodox idea of God. And his heart knew Love. His Soul awoke from the dead carcass of orthodox thought, and brushed off the cobwebs of fundamentalist impositions that create heavy anchors of fear on the Mind of any sentient being. Al-Rumi, one of the greatest Sufi Mystics was born. The Masnavi became his Magnum Opus and encouraged the seeking of the real God through contemplation, sacred dance, music and poetry. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Masnavi_I_Ma%27navi/Book_VI To this day, Sufism stands out as the Human Face of Islam. The Holy Book of Muslims, the Quran, has clearly stated that the worst crime is the shedding of Human Blood. Yet, we have shameless tyrants and scholars hiding behind misinterpretations and fabrications to commit acts of terrorism on innocents. The Arab orthodoxy chooses intellectual hypocrisy and perversion of justice. Notice the hue and cry made by Fundamentalists to support the Palestinian Arab cause, yet no tears are shed for the hundreds of thousands of oppressed Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar nor the South Sudan victims of Sudanese Arab onslaught. Sufism is the bright light in this tunnel of darkness and bloodshed. Let the right thinking people of the world look at Islam through the lens of Sufism. You are guaranteed to see the Light of Love for the Divine. The Soul of Islam is Sufism IP: Logged |

Thank you, iQ, for putting this together and explaining this. I didn't know the full story behind Rumi.I think fundamentalist thought in any religion is detrimental to that particular religion as well as to the people of that thinking. And thank you for the link. It seems very comprehensive. I love reading stories IP: Logged |

O marvel! A garden amidst the flames! My heart has become capable of every form: It is a pasture for gazelles And a monastery for Christian monks, And a temple for idols, And the pilgrim's Ka'ba, And the tablets of the Torah, And the Book of the Qur'an. I follow the religion of Love: Whatever way my love's camel takes, That is my religion, my faith. -- Ibn Arabi ------------------ As Angels above guide Human beings, Human Beings have the opportunity to be Angels on Earth, who guide the Animal kingdom. - Da Vinci IP: Logged |

For those who want to understand the difference between Sufism and fundamentalist thinking in different religions including Islam, Juni has a thread here--It's called "Fundamentalism and the human spirit" http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum21/HTML/000450.html IP: Logged |

Sufism is the best form of Islam... and Christianity... and Judaisim and the Pagan and soforth. It could be said it is the reality behind the religion. or more properly, it is the illumination of the Reality behind the Religion...a short cut if you will...but all have access to their Faith,God/Allah and Divine Love even those who do not practice Sufism...so, a clearer picture of sufism is not a religion or a Way, it is a practice and a discipline to shorten the Way and illuminate the Religion one practices... ------------------ As Angels above guide Human beings, Human Beings have the opportunity to be Angels on Earth, who guide the Animal kingdom. - Da Vinci IP: Logged |

The Sufi Message respects all Religions, recognises all Scriptures, regards all the Prophets held in esteem by large sections of humanity, and is the Source and Goals of all “ Wisdom is One”. ... and that is Love. I have missed you Ms T !
