If I didn't have absolute disdain for organized religion, Id consider joining them for sh!ts & giggles...As it stands I'm the Pope of my own Religion, and its completely disorganized much like my desk... [H A I L - I R I S] ----------------- ------------------------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Satan C H U R C H - O F - S A T A N [History] In the 1960s Anton LaVey formed a group called the Order of the Trapezoid, which later became the governing body of the Church of Satan. The group included: "The Baroness" Carin de Plessen, Dr. Cecil Nixon, Kenneth Anger, City Assessor Russell Wolden, Donald Werby,[1][2] and Michael Harner. According to the Church of Satan historiography, other LaVey associates from this time include noted Science Fiction and Horror writers Anthony Boucher, August Derleth, Robert Barbour Johnson, Reginald Bretnor, Emil Petaja, Stuart Palmer, Clark Ashton Smith, Forrest J. Ackerman, and Fritz Leiber Jr.[3] The Church of Satan was established at the Black House in San Francisco, California, on Walpurgisnacht, April 30, 1966, by Anton Szandor LaVey, who was the Church's High Priest until his death.[/img] [Beliefs]
The Church of Satan does not "worship" or believe in the devil, nor do they believe in gods. LaVeyan Satanism follows the belief that one self is their own "God". They do not believe in suppression of desire and human nature. "My real feeling is that anybody who believes in supernatural entities on some level is insane. Whether they believe in The Devil or God, they are abdicating reason," said Peter Gilmore.[5] Gilmore defines the word Satan: "Satan is a model or a mode of behavior. Satan in Hebrew means 'adversary' or 'opposer'; one who questions."[5] Satanists within the Church of Satan adhere to these as guidelines on how to live. However, it is important to remember that Satanists generally do view the Satanic sins, statements, and rules of the earth as things that one must go out of their way to do. The Satanist ideally sees these things as truisms and how they naturally live their lives, as opposed to a Christian or Jew, who would strive to follow the words of Christ or the mitzvot, respectively. The Nine Satanic Statements[14] [The Nine Satanic Statements outline what "Satan" represents in the Church of Satan] Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual development", has become the most vicious animal of all. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years. [The Nine Satanic Sins] Stupidity Pretentiousness Solipsism Self-deceit Herd Conformity Lack of Perspective Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies Counterproductive Pride Lack of Aesthetics [The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth] Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them. When in another's lair, show them respect or else do not go there. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat them cruelly and without mercy. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and they cry out to be relieved. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself. Do not harm little children. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask them to stop. If they don’t stop, destroy them.
----------- Some of there Sins, Rules and creeds are pretty interesting/hilarious/awesome... quote: If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat them cruelly and without mercy

Do you have a cool pope hat or vestments? Also, they do make (or at least did) pope action figures. There's one of Innocent III, or at least was, if you ever need some whimsical office toys There's also a toy called Nunzilla; it's a windup nun that shoots sparks out of its mouth. And nun bowling. I've had people call me a Satanist up until I was 17. I sometimes had fun with them (if they're that stupid then I'm gonna treat them as that stupid) like when one boy on the bus asked me (a bit fearfully) if I really worshiped Satan and after a moment of surprise of being asked I then replied harshly, "Yes, and I cast spells, so shut up." He did, turning around suddenly, and I laughed (I couldn't help but wonder if it sounded like the evil cackle of the wicked witch to him). I told others about it who also thought it was funny though some of my older relatives scolded me for it saying I was fueling the fire. Once at 15 and another at 16 someone offered me a copy of the Satanic Bible by LaVey but I turned it down thinking it was about literal worship of Satan (rather than the Self) and was no more interested in that than I was the Bible or Koran. I was in my 20s before I got convinced to read it (along with The Satanic Witch) and found the books mentally stimulating (I wasn't as impressed as many are perhaps because I was already familiar with much of the philosophy of individualism and enlightened selfishness from other authors who predated LaVey) and I liked how it encouraged indulgence without addiction. To me, both vice and virtue are equally self-destructive unless balanced with good sense, but in moderation both vice & virtue can lead to a much happier and fulfilling life. And having read those books I'd have loved to have gone back in time to tell those who said I was a Satanist, "You say that like it's a BAD thing." But yeah, being part of a Discordian cabal was far more fun than I think I could've ever had in any Satanic grotto. IP: Logged |

Just so Lei Kuei knows( and anyone who cares to know), the Catholic Bible is not the same as the King James Bible. It is a different animal as the Catholic Church added a bunch of things to it. Just FYI to whom it may concern ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

And just so people know the Catholic (and Orthodox, they used to be one church before they mutually split) has all the same books as the KJV with a few more added in...or more accurately with the books that the KJV took out.IP: Logged |

Lol Pix, you being or entertaining LaVey-Satanism does not shock me lolI feel though, they named it poorly, hmmmm As Satan and Yahweh are more or less interchangeable... Luciferianism may have been a better choice, wonder why they settled on Satan

Just to be clear I didn't even entertain the idea of becoming a Satanist. I just found the 2 books I read mentally stimulating...and thought I'd rather have a Satanist for a neighbor than a Pentecostal.Ironically, my months in San Francisco were horrible and I met so many I did not like...one of the few I got along with very well (and the one who finally convinced me to read the 2 books on Satanism, though I didn't read them right away) was a Satanist who agreed with me on how uncivilized San Francisco was and why she was looking forward to moving away (and I loved the surrealism that it was a Satanist complaining about the rampant obnoxious behavior and that it was so bad she was leaving).
