Hi good girl! Yes, I sing, although I work full time as a teacher. Have sung for years, firstly as a chorister, and now doing semi-professional gigs both as a soloist and in a couple of chamber choirs. Have never done anything in front of the Royals .... that would be scary! x------------------ Out of clutter find simplicity. From dischord find harmony. That's so awesome! I love your fabulous hat, mezzo! I used to have one like that in black and wore it with my torn jeans for fun Gosh, it must be such a rush to be on stage. It's wonderful, must be so much fun Do you have anymore photos of your performances by any chance? IP: Logged |

OK....time for some more stuff Music I like (please feel free to add your own lists) Classical stuff first..... Anything by J.S Bach Handel Purcell (he wrote the BEST songs ) Debussy German Lieder (Schubert, Schumann etc) Vaughn Williams Gorecki (esp. his Symphony of Sorrowful Songs) Avro Part Rachmaninov (esp.his 'Vespers') there are more but can't think of them right now more mainstream stuff coming up! Amy Winehouse (got her first album when it first came out....totally fell in love with her voice, she might be a bit of train-wreak but damn! that VOICE!!!!!) Reeeeeally like chilled/ambient dance stuff like Zero 7, Jakatta, Massive Attack and so on Stereophonics - know they've not done much for a while, but their second album was the sountrack to my first year at uni! Bliss! Carol King - old school and the best Neil Diamond (blame my parents, oh, and Simon and Garfunkle....same....) QUEENS OF THE STONEAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love their stuff and quite fancy Josh Homme Metallica (seeing them LIVE in march) Funeral for a Friend Sheila Chandra there are more but God! could be here ALL DAY listing them.

"Metallica (seeing them LIVE in march)"Really??? I saw that way back in the 90's twice, they were really great live. I am not so sure about their stuff now for me...I'm a huge fan of the much older stuff , like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYKh85Leq_g even better live...wish I would've seen them back then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkkgYktQkFg I'm curious to see if they're still as strong live as they were 16 years ago (wow...saying that just made me feel...really...old...LOL )

Hey virgo! yeh - love metallica's older stuff esp. master of puppets. their recent stuff isn't as edgy, bless them, but they are getting a bit long in the tooth... I am really looking forward to seeing them live though. singing lessons? weeeelll - as a technicality we can all sing; we all have voices. but some people never learn to be free with their voice, and often i find those with deep felt, sometimes difficult emotions, struggle with singing. the voice is one of most expressive means of communication - its tone, timbre and modulations speak more loudly than words. if i am feeling low or unhappy i find it almost impossible to sing.....just some thoughts! Blecchh! They sound uptight and jealous! I say keep wearing what you love ... I've seen teachers wear all kinds of stuff, so I don't see the problem...unless there's some kind of written code. It sounds like they're jealous of you standing out !!! IP: Logged |

can't find anything anywhere that says wearing coloured tights is not allowed. I mean, its not as if i was wearing them with a mini skirt or low cup top - quite the opposite in fact. I did look smart. its my fault for working in a rural school full of provincial people.oh well. so much for originality. i think the head would like us all in suits and heels. YUK! p.s. watched the film 'Dogville' last night. AMAZING!!!!!! get it on DVD people. just awsome. IP: Logged |

hahaha! like it good girl! i don't have the bonnet anymore - it was hired for the performance (boo!), but i do often wear all black.....doing performing arts means i can get away with that all right!so, apart from wearing lots of black as a youngster did you also listen to lots of deep indie/metal music whilst locked in your room?! (or am i feeding into stereotypes here????!) IP: Logged |
