First day of wintercamp, where I'm going to put my new invention, "Ingul", to the test. Aaah, you ask 'What is Ingul?' I'm so glad you asked!!! Ingul is the language of movie posters in Korea. Korea has it's own unique alphabet, which differs from Chinese and Japanese in that it isn't a collection of small pics representing basic ideas and that come together to make a word ... It is actually a proper alphabet, like English and Arabian. I'm quite good at reading this alphabet by now ... since I don't have Korean letters on my laptop at home, where I am now, I can't post actual examples of the letters but I think I can still explain what "Ingul" is: Ingul is English words written in the Korean alphabet. There are many borrow words from English in Korean, but the main way in which I learned Ingul (ok ok I didn't invent it but I named it which is almost the same thing!) was from the names of movies showing on TV. At first it was hard but eventually I could make out that next they're showing 'te-lo-ee' (Troy) for the millionth time and could switch the channel in time. So today I'm gonna get the kids to write the song Somewhere over the rainbow in Ingul. Wish me luck!

O fully! I mean I think when you get born you should get like a useful little packet full of all the stuff you'll need in life: ruby slippers, glass slippers, good fairy, fairy godmother, and ABOVE ALL - love potion! Anyway the kids were great today ... we've covered the first two lines only but at least they are singing! They are soooo shy that it's really a miracle getting them to stop giggling and sing. Especially the girls. They're at that age (13) where ANYTHING sends them into a fit of giggles!! : D

OY! Tell me about it! I have a 14 yr old and an 11 year old. I got so tired of the snickering and giggling I just started saying penis and vagina in my daily conversations until they got desensitized. It worked! Now they can name things properly and discuss them without hiding under the bed!

*I bet you are tired after your first day back, probably sleep well tonight!

Moi is back, post-wintercamp (which went smashingly) and with a brand-new contract for Gojeong school, signed yesterday. I'm gonna post My New Job's Chart here ... I don't think I've ever had an Aquarius job before, but it fits because it's definately a very unique and individualistic job: teaching English all by moi-self to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, as well as maybe to kindergarten, teachers and parents. Bring it on baby! I'll be like Neo facing an infinite army of agent Smiths! Hahaha ... fortunately there are less than ten students in each grade, with the exception of 15 first graders. Apparently the school is on the brink of extinction, but maybe some positive energy can save it. Anyway the WEIRDEST thing is that although I am basically smack bang in the middle of nowhere, this smack bang in the middle of nowhere is basically the area where Universal Studios plans to build it's biggest theme park to date. It's set for 1014 so we'll see what happens. In this case it's a question of fatinkerbell not going to the Universe, but the Univers(al Studios) coming to fatinkerbell : )

So, Acqua sun, Sag moon and Cancer Asc ... I like the Cancer asc cos I'm gonna work with small kiddies so I guess it means my motherly side is gonna come out in my personality ... Anything Sag is good and Sag moon I think is gonna mean general optimism in moi's feelings, and an air sun hopefully means I'm gonna be able to think clearly and in Acqua be original and so on. I like Mars in my first house which is hopefully gonna give me energy which God knows I'll be needing working with rugrats! That Mars in first house is in Taurus hopefully means some stability willcome from my efforts finally. What's with all the red lines however?? Anyway, I start officially on 2 March. Now I've just got to get my visa renewed, move into a new apartment, and voila, new decade here I come? (Can you tell I've just taken my happy pills? Or is it again a bouncy bouncy Sag thing? : )

Uhm, I mean Mars in Leo, duh ... (side effect of happy pills: reveals total stupidness!) OK so I'll be very creative! That's also good. Uhm maybe I'll find out about possible stability elsewhere in the chart ... need more coffee first, and endorphins... it's time for my workout : )

O groovy, more stress! Hi Gypsee I missed you too ... I'm sorry I've been so ... uh ... absent! ... but I was quite focused on the wintercamp situation ... actually just about everything I did there is on youtube on my channel fatinkerbell ... so if you search on youtube with the word 'fatinkerbell' you'll be able to see all the no good I've been up to while I was away : ) I promise this is NOT a shameless self-plug! I just thought maybe some people would find it like maybe a little interesting to see what I've been up to. Actually I'm using YouTube as a sort of database for future research into language acquisition so actually if I really wanted everyone in the world to see it I'd add more tags like 'english' 'korea' and so on, but as it is my vids are still pretty anonymous cos my so called 'language acquisition research' is still a work in progress. You'll probably find most vids super boring but if you really want to punish yourself you can wade through them lol : D Good luck with the mommy thing! Love and hugs

MORE IMPORTANTLY IS YOU KNOW WHO BACK?????

WOW... only thirty days ........ AND YOUR LIFE COULD CHANGE!!!!! Yes it's the new environment that's causing the stress or actually it's the anticipation of the new environment because I have basically one more week in my apartment before I move to the new one and on Tuesday I start officially. The first thing I'm going to teach my miniature Koreans is the difference between meeting and greeting, because after three years I've had enough of students greeting me EVERY DAY with the words: Nice to meet you. So I'll try to impress upon their impressionable young minds that you only say 'nice to meet you' the FIRST time you see someone, not EVERY time you see them. When you see them the second, etc.th. time you can say, nice to see you. Or.... waaazzzzzuuuuuup? OK I'm kidding I won't teach the second one : D
I'm holding thumbs and sending fairies your way for the Big Meeting one month from now : D

Miniature Koreans is a funny term. Don't worry about the move and all such. Moving is such a stressful thing, but once its done, and your things are in order again - you get back to feeling great again. I hope the new place treats you kindly. Take photos.

Thanks, sweetie, for the fairies! Yeah, it's gonna be interesting. I dunno how we'll do it, but yeah, it is crunch time, indeed!

I'm baaaaack!! How do you know school is in session again? Fatinkerbell starts posting again. There's nothing like a job to keep you tinkering on the internet! Speaking of jobs, I'm loving my new one so far. Today is sort of my first official day ... and I'm totally in fairy-land! There's nothing like an elementary school to really make you feel like a cartoon character!!!!

PS I have actually worked today. I prepped a lesson about .... yooouu guessed it ... the weather!!! Now if this were Hogwarts I'd be teaching weather spells, but showing crazy Sesame Street weather forecasts runs a close second : )

Aaawww, you're such a conscientious teacher. I love it. Only if more teachers were like you. When I was in school, especially my Math teacher, it felt like she was always swearing under her breath at the sight of us.

It's 10am ish there right now. Are you watching the Oscars. I am.

Have a lovely week ahead.

No gimme the spoilers ... I'm so cut off from civilization ! I've decided not to install TV in my new apt (there is a TV but you gotta connect it ... like a phone ... OK duh maybe that's obvious but anyway ....).
So I guess if I ever want to catch up with Acoustic's 53 pages (my New Year's resolution was to read more Know-2-R-Alike threads and seeing that number of pages is like .... eeek!!) I should catch whoever is interested up in moi's life.
Well. Here it is. Now I know what it feels like to be God. Or Goddess. Whatever. It's been a couple of weeks now that I've been in sole charge of an elementary school classroom LOADED with materials and it's sort of like having a mountain of candy in front of you ... you hardly know where to begin. But slowly things are falling into categories: playdough, pencils, used notebooks, mysterious pieces of plastic and metal (no doubt used to construct mini filing cabinets and so on, but there always seems to be a piece or three left over?), etc. As I look up from my computer keyboard I see half a dozen empty play-dough containers filled with pens, pencils, color pencils, color pens, crayons, magic markers, etc. etc. Somehow it's very soothing to organize stuff like this ... The point is, I feel like I have a little universe at my fingertips. Furthermore I'm like overwhelmed creatively ... every time I wanna relax and do nothing some d a m n idea strikes me and then I have to frantically prep materials etc. Sheesh. O by the way, the denizens of my little universe are very cute. Painfully so. I mean ... These kids truly are like living moving speaking screaming dolls ... The really young kids look totally unreal to me, like they're soooo perfect and especially because their moms dress them up in ribbons and bows and pins and smiley outfits ... It's almost too much to bear. The cool thing about teaching really young kids is that basically you are four times as tall as the youngest of them, and at least always head and shoulders above even the oldest. It totally gives you a sense of superiority!
