Thanks for guidance on photos. I'm really going to try soon. It's this darn Piscean mysterious privacy thing I have. My sister, a Gemini is trying to convince me to design a poetry site on Weebly. She's a commercial artist...she designed the Bindi Irwin doll...very talented. There are lots of artists in my family. I'm a late bloomer accepting this side of me.
My mom kept some of my pictures from Kindergarten. I had an obsession drawing mailboxes and Bird Bird from Sesame Street. I also have another picture that my teacher was impressed with although, she was a little shocked of the mature subject matter. She called me imaginative and creative. I think she was a genius and seer. LOL.

Unmoved, I love your attitude on moving ahead. Happy healing. No fear allowed with the Saggie.

YAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!
Page 8 !!!!!!!
Well according to Linda Goodman 8 is a difficult vibration but I associate the number 8 with infinity and abundance ... dunno why exactly, but I'm superstitious that way. If you can make it to step 8 you can make it all the way. How many steps are there? Mmm ... not sure! Best not to think about it : D
Aaaanyways, Mermaid, first I'm gonna have to google the doll ...
BTW you aren't maybe into illustrating children's books are you?

Aaaah ... Mermaid ... So Bindi Irwin is the daughter of the famous Australian naturalist who got bitten fatally by a crocodile ... I must say that's a rather strange way to go but I guess it was OK given that he died doing the job he loved ... I wonder though howBindi, his daughter is really taking it ... I reckon it must be a lot of pressure on her to sort of follow in her dad's footsteps ... I dunno ...
Anyway kudo's to your sis for designing the doll! Wow, that's like amazing!! So Mermaid did you choose your username with Pisces in mind?

I've decided to embrace the fate of my eight birth channel. It's makes it a little easier to swallow. That's how I choose to view it, as an instrument of destiny.

I've only recently thought about taking some art lessons. I think that I need some formal training to bring out any natural talent. I'm really critical of my own work. My mom is a natural. She drew me the most beautiful seahorse once. I'd recommend my sister though. She has designed greeting cards, rubber stamps, needlework kits, wrapping paper, etc... She often gets frustrated because the finished products often look nothing like her original design because of all the requested modifications. She's focusing on pet portraiture now.

Yes, I chose my username because I feel very Piscean. I told my husband that when I pass he is to sprinkle my ashes into crystal blue waters. That is where I'm happiest, at the shore searching for rocks and shells and hearing the surf. My husband is a sailor at heart...born on the 25th and Jupiter in Cancer.

I like your list of 21 random facts.
I was anorexic in high school. I'm pretty sure I've conquered that beast. I recently lost weight the healthy and proper way.
I try to tell myself to choose my obsessions wisely as I have a quite more than a few.

Well welcome to obsession central! My take on these things is that actually they never really go away ... you just learn to manage them better. I'm still pretty concerned about food and sometimes I have to really concentrate and tell myself I need to eat because if I feel like I could go without a meal it seems like a good idea to go without a meal. However, the downward spiral of my past actually led me to a point where I REALLY knew what it felt like to be hungry ... so like Scarlett O'Hare I vowed ... Nevr Ever Again!
Anyways I'm sure you're better at art than you say ! I sort of asked the question about children's books casually because I once bought this "Teach Yourself" book - Teach Yourself How To Write For Children. Basically one of the main points of the book is that childrens' books are collaborations between an author and an illustrator. I've had some cool ideas for Children's books ... here are some titles:
1. Bad Fig
2. The Three Little Piggy Bankrobbers
3. The Tiger Biker
I know they sound silly but you must see some of the stuff that's out there ... I', like 'really???' when I see some children's books and my huge ego always makes me say to myself, 'Hey I'm SURE I could do better than this!' The only problem is that my art, in which I confess I dabble sometimes, suuucckkks! Let me put it this way. I sing better than I draw. Hahaha ...

Here is the text for The Tiger Biker
(I think it's way cool):

The Tiger Biker lives in an apartment building in Pine Mountain Town. The Tiger Biker is yellow and orange and the stripes on his back are black and brown. The Tiger Biker goes to school on his small fast motorbike. You can read some more about the Tiger Biker if your like.
The Tiger Biker likes his school. All his friends think that he's cool because he has a motorbike. Turn the page now if you like.
The Tiger Biker can do tricks at lunchtime with his chopsticks.
Can you do these tricks as well?
Turn the page. There's more to tell.
The Tiger Biker saw something very strange one day. The Tiger Biker showed his friends, and his friends all said "Hey, what's this?" "It's a rocket. You can put it on your bike. Then you can go faster on your bike, if you like. Now the Tiger Biker is the fastest kid in his town. Now this book is finished and you can put it down."

Inane, right? But from my experience thus far with children's books this is exactly what helps kids learn to read ... a LOT of repitition, rhyming words, extremely simple plot ... Hey, some award winning children's books have NO plot at all! For instance:
'Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see? I see a yellow duck looking at me. Yellow duck, yellow duck, what do you see? I see a blue horse looking at me. Blue ..."
And so on. The cast of characters include various animals of various shades and hues, and according to me the most interesting thing in it is the fact that the horse is blue and the cat is purple. I'm like, why is the cat purple? But that question NEVER gets answered. If I were a child I would tear this book to shreds in frustration but it's seriously made the author, who is some bigwig in education, a BIG pile of money. Wait, I gotta see if I can find some blurb on the internet about it ...

It's on sale marked down from almost 30 dollars on Amazon ... down to 10 dollars! Yikes! I'm always looking for ways to make my fortune and I'm like ... all I need is a kick-ass illustrator!
So the point is, if you REEAAAALLLLYYYY want to you can ask your sister if she's ever tried to break into the children's books market ... But actually I reckon if it's meant to happen it'll happen. It's basically obsessive jealousy with the success of others! (Another of my obsessions : )

You are right, these "issues" don't go away, they just become manageable. I have a very wise Harley biker chick friend whose has the angel tattoo on one shoulder and the devil on the other. (of course she's a Gemini born on the 11th, just like my brother and same name as my brother, what a coincidence!)

I think your huge Ego about writing books is not only necessary for success but also the correct key. I look at these the same way and say that I can do better... My philosophy is people WILL BUY ANYTHING, if you build it they will come, wonders never cease....law of the Universe...positivity will manifest miracles.

One of my favorite children's book lesson is from "The Little Engine that Could"...I think I can, I know I can, I did it! Totally paramount for success! So here is my philosophy...shut up the negative voices in my head, form a plan for action and strike while the iron is hot because there are most likely at least a few others out there with a similar thought, riding the same wave. (I'm a horrible procrastinator and I'm really working on that.)

This is how my mind works with Eric Carle's books, the first thing is I see words in his name...I REAL CARE...his work is colorful, mosaic...imagery, primal simplicity... I guessed he was a Cancer and sure enough when I looked him up his bio says born 6/25.

There are those children born wise beyond years that require more complexity than the average children's book. Yet I guess ALL, can relate best to primal symbolism and archetypal imagery, the amazing magic of simplicity watering the seeds.

My deceased cousin's art made it into the Smithosonianm and trust me his stuff is totally bizarre. This really convinced me anything is possible. He was never self-promoting and attributed his success to his friends great assistance. I'm going to research his chart some more as there is much to learn from him. Before his death, an interviewer described him as "transfigured, glowing, free from envy and fear." He died from AIDS and although he was almost completely blind near his end stage he said he produced the best work, bringing in "more light" and working from his mind's memory. He was a Capricorn, born on Jan. 20 (that Cancerian memory vibration working for him)

My sister said "About your question regarding children's book illustration:

As a child, that was my passion. Kid's books! Wanted to write and
illustrate them. That's why I LIVED at the Madison Library!

While working through Creatif Licensing Corp., I had a few written
stories and book dummies made up; received lots of rejection notices
from the big publishers. Mostly the "Spot Dog" stuff. (See attached
pictures.) I did a small booklet for American Greetings, about two
kitten pals. Real cute.

I was the author and artist of the KID'S PAGE in the AHIMSA magazines,
for the American Vegan Society. Still have samples. Kids used to write
to me about my articles and coloring page.

Have illustrated several published cookbooks.

When I was freelancing at American Greetings, I designed plenty of
kid's cereal boxes, with games and cute characters, etc."

So your Tiger Biker is way COOL. Tiger's are a great icon...will especially attract the Leo's and Leo's are good money spenders and like what is popular! GO FOR IT!!! You've got that Saggie luck and born on the 21st, double Saggie LUCK!!! I would also look to the outer planets of the targeted kids generation to get an idea of their broad spectrum thinking/attraction trends. (just makes sense to play all one's Aces)

I'll see if I can post a sample image of my sister's work.

Hey Mermaid! Cool! So actually you know Eric Carl's books well!! I must apologize for being so b i t c h y about him ... it's really just my jealousy speaking (I have a Scorpio stellium!) ... In fact although at first I couldn't see the point of his book, I admit the kids are crazy about it and they remember the whole story and can say it by heart! So in that case it really is a perfect collaboration between artist and illustrator ...
Anyways update is my mom has actually agreed to illustrate The Tiger Biker and it's soooo way cool. My mom's one of those (annoying) people who can do anything! But she's quite into art and is always playing around with paints and colors and stuff ... actually I think she is really good so the universe has now provided me with a Tiger Biker illustrator ... However, what with me having my Neptune conjunct Mercury I have a totally wild imagination and it never stops producing stuff ... I will tune into your sister's energy and see what kind of thing can be, could be, may be born there? My own style tends to be funny and disrespectful in a way ... I don't know if that will go over so well but I'm thinking some kids might enjoy it. I could however wax lyrical and write gentle stories as well ... a recent book I enjoyed teaching the kids is called "It's time for bed" illustrated by Jane Dyer and it's sooooo beautiful .... all the pictures are of mommy animals with their baby animals and it's just so beautiful and wonderful ... I'm totally a sucker for baby animals by the way ... The other day I went shopping with my mom and we saw a baby rat in a pet shop section of the department store ... Anyway, this little baby rat was sleeping on its back, no bigger than my thumb it seemed, yet with tiny little whiskers all defined and teeny tiny two teeth showing ... and it was obviously having some kind of dream because it's little paws were quivering and it's whiskers constanty twitching and I nearly died from a cuteness attack!!! Anyways please do put some pics on also and actually especially YOURS cos now I'm curious to see what you do with art ... I'm one of those people that's a sucker for art and poetry so whether it be good or bad I can hardly tell the difference ... no I lie I do discriminate but it seems to be on an unconscious level that I'm drawn to certain writings and certain pictures ... : )

Anyways, here is an idea you can swing by your sister maybe .... so I have this one class who is made up of eight children in total ... actually this is my biggest class because I teach at a really small country school which has a total of about 40 pupils! Anyway, this particular class has been giving me loads of problems ... but the funny thing is, I find them really funny. So you know what I said about my style being sort of disrespectful ? Well, actually I enjoy naughty kids because they are so funny and of course not really naughty at all, just being clowns ... but because I've been laughing so much with them I've recently had to put on a sterner persona ... So one of the ideas I had was a book about a gang of eight children and one of the side characters could be me as a really horrible teacher that they all hate! Well actually I don't mind if the kids don't like me because I like them and I'm just more complex than them and anyway I don't think it's meant for kids to like teachers ... teachers are kids' natural enemy!! Anyway my big thing of course is I totally hate corporal punishment and I'm very much against it, but since that is the system in which I operate I have to be very creative in finding ways to have kids take me seriously ... sheesh I'm already sounding like a monster to myself!!!! AAaaaaanyway, actually enough about me, so the real point is I got to thinking about the Enid Blyton books and other authors who wrote about kids in 'gangs' like the secret seven and the famous five and so on and I've been toying with the idea of writing something a little more complex for like older children but using parts of the personalities from this particular group of eight kids and I've been going like ... OK ... The Electric Eight ... no the Enigmatic Eight, no the Effervescent Eight ... haha you get the picture. Well I don't know if it would be wrong to appropriate these kids' personalities, which are totally unique and their mix is also totally unique and capitalizing on it ... I'll let the idea bubble some more in the cauldron of my mind

Oh, I should also maybe explain my idea for "Bad Fig" ... so as I'm teaching the alphabet to the younger kids I use a method whereby I teach the first graders basically just capital letters because it's easier for them to recognize ... since Korea has an entirely unique alphabet of its own, you'd be surprised at how hard it is for children to learn to read, especially as the Korean alphabet is like almost totally phonetic, whereas English makes a phonics teacher weep with frustration !! What's with all the silent e's and k's and words that sound the same but are spelled differently, like see and sea (my theme for the second part of May is 'The Sea ... today the kindergarten will be making playdough yellow submarines : !)
So the idea for bad fig came with attamtping to write a story with only the first 13 letters in them, and all with capital letters ... So the illustrations would really have to be imaginitive and it seems your sis with having cooking and vegan illustration background might be perfecto for this ... actually I haven't really finished the text yet but the basic story-line is as follows: A farmer is picking figs from a fig tree, but one fig doesn't want to get picked and tries to escape. So the subtext is that although he is depicted as a bad fig actually one can sympathize with him. Anyway he can't be a good fig because the letter o comes too late in the alphabet ... I want a book kids can read after a lesson about the first thirteen letters, a to m.
So anyway, it's supposed to be SUUUUUUper easy, so here goes:

BAD FIG
BAD FIG
BIG BIG BAD FIG
BAD FIG HID
BAD FIG DIG DIG DIG

anyways I won't inflict anymore on you lest you think I'm nuts but from a pedagological viewpoint I reckon this is something that has never been tried ... I mean Dr. Seuss basically with The Cat In The Hat wrote an entire long and complicated story using only very short words ... so making it even easier for a beginner learner would be to try to create some kind of story out of a very limited amount of letters ... Aaaanyway, so ask your sis if she can imagine a bad fig (who actually is a good fig) trying to escape from a fig tree and from being plucked!

Good day Fatinkerbell! I hope that the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction you reference brings you much good.
I wanted to respond to you sooner. It's been hard for me to focus lately, since school is out here and I've got my 2 girls home. Last week was filled with entertaining friends w/sleepovers, etc... I had sevens girls one night, that I swear were never going to go to sleep. My oldest daughter's three closest friends are all moving away. Luckily, one is just moving a city away. So, we've been trying to work in last chance opportunities to hang together. Major changes are certainly affecting these young girls lives. I feel for them.

Anyways, I don't think you came across b i t c h y at all about Eric Carl. I quite like your humor. That's so cool about your mom illustrating your book. She sounds a lot like my mom who is really good at and can do just about everything. Heck, even funny and disrespectful books are needed too. (otherwise the serious and respectful ones would have no meaning) I love the "Dumb Bunnies" books, myself. I don't think anyone could go wrong with baby animal books either. Huge cuteness factor appealing to the masses here, for certain.

I'm still challenged uploading pictures from photobucket. I do keep trying though and I'm sure I'll get it figured out eventually. I like the gang of eight book idea. Especially since I'm an eight (and ouch, sometimes that sterner persona, just one of my gazillion shades of character though, thank goodness.) You know, I try to learn really good stuff from the characters of childhood classics like Peter Pan. One of my best friends is a Sag/Taurus Moon and she's great at teaching me silly a**. I so need those lessons!

Could it possibly be a month since I was last here? That is really ... terrible, unforgivable, careless, terrible and terrible! Sorry Mermaid for leaving your reply hanging here for a month !!!
Aaaanyways. Ja I have been very busy. I sympathize with sleepovers Mermaid. Thank goodness that my days with the students end at a specific time ... I don't think I could handle sleepovers. It was only yesterday that I went to sleepovers. I STILL want to go to sleepovers.
!
Thanks for the encouraging remarks about my creative writing endeavours. One never knows ...
Well I read something about Uranus being like an accelerator and this past month has felt like that to me ... I'm like: OK I'm now digesting / doing This and now it's done, OK I can take a little brea ... What? Something else to do... Ooookaaaayy ... right get it done quickly OK Finish! What?? This too?? When did you say you needed that? Yesterday? Gulp???!!@!!!$^#$&%$
And it's not only at work either ... my emotional life is also on fast forward and I don't much like it. Maybe Uranus going retrograde will stop the spinning. Touch wood.

I like the picture you posted on the other thread! You are quite a lovely inner geek!

You Saggies are workaholic types by nature, right?

Sleep, well, I am very selfish about my sleep. I can stay up late. It's just that I'm a little slow going in the morning, (Piscean/Earthy influences at work here?)
When I went to my twenty year highschool reunion, that's what my closest grade school friends mentioned fond memories of...sleepovers at my house, so I guess my Mom was and IS pretty cool.

I think I'm in desperate need of a sleepover...for deep water discussions etc... I see that you are reading Goobertz.
I've read it and own it.

I actually have a decent picture to post of myself yet I get stuck at the Upload point in Photobucket. I can easily talk myself out of posting a picture. Okay, here's an image...picture Heidi Klum twinning my goddess like figure. LOL. Geez, these Piscean illusions are tough.

Joy to you!
