Mars-Venus aspects in the natal chart. I can be really feminine but I'm also a tomboy! LOL. In relationships, I can be masculine in the sense that, I'm not the typical girl-I think that's why I get along so well with my guy friends because I can be "one of the guys"=watch and play sports, joke, wrestle like the boys and climb trees/buildings! To determine masculinity and femininity is a cultural thing, and its really depends on the culture because human society creates norms as to what is masculine or feminine, never under-estimate your own masculinity or femininity because it varies person to person and culture, if that makes sense. Sorry if I'm sounding to sociology like, but I believe some of this is true. I personally go through phases where I embrace my femininity or repel it, currently I'm sorta stand offish with my femininity. I haven't received any attention from the opposite sex, which has caused me to be a bit bitter, and also extreme as to repel my old feminine choices of clothing, no more skirts! I've also got transiting Saturn squaring natal Venus, and transiting Uranus square Venus will soon be exact, quite soon! ------------------ Sun - Leo Moon - Pisces Ascendant - Sagittarius IP: Logged |

I think we each have a balance of masculinity and feminity and it depends on who we are with and what we are doing as to how they are each expressed.I'm a bit of a tomboy, but I know how to bat the eyelids and get someone to carry something heavy for me if I have to. Oh, and if you want a masculine Libran - just look at Clive Owen. Whoa! Nothing girly there. IP: Logged |

I think when people first meet me they think I'm a little more feminine than a typical male. Astrologically it's probably because of my pisces rising, also moon conjunct venus, stellium conjunct IC maybe. Deep down, though, I'm completely comfortable with my masculinity. I'm certianly not timid or scared of challenges. I authentically enjoy "male" things like engines, fires, things that explode, things with two wheels, bows and arrows, fooseball ... I just come across as "soft". I probably get hit on by just as many gay men as I get hit on by women, sad to say. I'm not 'metro' either lol. I agree with you 100% Glaucus, these stereotyped ideas of what masculinity is are extremely detrimental to society. I've been called gay before, happened all the time in middle school . I've also seen otherwise good people become a$$holes because they somehow believe thats the right way for guys to behave. Also, my girlfriend has mars in aries in the 9th. She doesn't look manly at all, but she can get a little scary at times. My sister has a capricorn mars in the first and she one of the toughest people I know. ------------------ Sun: 23 gemini Moon: 21 gemini Mercury: 21 gemini r Venus: 21 gemini r Mars: 14 Pisces Rising: 19 pisces IP: Logged |

quote: I wonder about 'masculine' women or women with a masculine air about them. I have Mars in the first conjunct the ascendant, and that should show some kind of 'masculine' trait.... but it's in Taurus along with my Taurus rising, so that's feminine. I'm not as sturdy as I should be with that rising sign, so I have no idea . Maybe a fire Mars in conjunct a fire ascendant?
I have a mars in aries and Cap Asc (going with someone's theory about saturn) and I do think it makes me rough around the edges. I wasn't a complete tomboy because I liked to do girly things, but at the same time I LIVED for rougher boy stuff like contact sports. Im probably the first female in my family to seriously. Women in my culture are raised to be like 100% feminine and I guess my mars (and my dual gemini venus) has always rejected that. I was always shy anyways, but I had/have a not-so-soft aspect to my personality too....most people don't mess with me. My chart is about 60% Feminine and 40% masculine so I guess I'll always be more female--->>especially with my cancer sun, but I have enough masculine planets in my chart to not make me completely soft. Actually, I heard its a libran trait to always be the inverse. Like if you're a girl than there will always be something masculine about you, and vice versa for men. Like it almost keeps with balancing the scale, they have 50% of both. I have a 7th house sun.

He IS a sweetheart. LibraLove...I never cud tell you were a guy. Its really cool in this Forum, I almost never can tell. IP: Logged |

I remember my first watching of the TV show,HOUSEI remember the one show that involve AIS(Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome), I ended up looking up stuff on that and hermaphrodites shortly after. The girl,a supermodel, who actually really had hidden male genitalia had cancer, but they couldn't find it any where.....but they finally found it on her balls...so she was really a man with AIS.
House told her about that. He cried and claiming that she's a girl. House says "You will be alright when we cut out your balls" hahahahaha then he turns to the father of the girl, who was banging her
and he says "this technically means that you're a homo" hahahhaha It was the first episode of House that I ever saw.
Androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS), also referred to as androgen resistance syndrome, is a set of disorders of sex development caused by mutations of the gene encoding the androgen receptor.[1] The nature of the resulting problem varies according to the structure and sensitivity of the abnormal receptor. Most forms of AIS involve variable degrees of undervirilization and/or infertility in XY persons of either gender. A person with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS) has a female external appearance despite a 46XY karyotype and undescended testes, a condition termed "testicular feminization" in the past. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgen_insensitivity_syndrome Watching that episode made me realize that you can't take female appearances for granted because you never know....that female could actually be a genetic male. I believe males should know what they are getting into. Therefore, it's logical to ask a female if she's really a female. Some AIS people live lives as females and keep their AIS a secret from men they are with.
here is a good site on AIS, and it shows pictures of people with AIS. You can see that they do look like females that you can't tell that they are genetically males. The 1991 Teen USA has AIS. Many thousands of women around the world suffer from a disorder known as Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS), or in old text books as Testicular Feminisation Syndrome. The syndrome is of great interest because it conclusively proves (though perhaps still not to some judges and lawyers) that women can have XY genes, a fact which has considerable significance for genetically XY Male-to-Female (MTF) transsexuals. Some speculation suggests that Ann Coulter may suffer from AIS Women with AIS look and feel like typical women, and in every practical, social, legal, and everyday sense they are women, even though congenitally they have testes and XY chromosomes, and can never bear children. The fact that a "woman" has AIS and is genetically a "male" is often not discovered until puberty, when she does not start to menstruate and a gynaecological examination reveals the syndrome. (The above two paragraphs are based on material from the literature of the Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Support Group (AISSG). http://transwoman.tripod.com/ais.htm AIS is definitely the "beyond more feminine than usual" syndrome.

Well in the classical/stereotypical sense...More planets in Masculine signs (all fire and air signs) will make someone more "masculine." My Sun, ASC, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, & Saturn are all in masculine signs. I'm definitely not very feminine in the way I act, though people have said that I'm "princessy" because of my love for material possessions and because I'm demanding (though stereotypically, females aren't supposed to be demanding). There are some fire/air signs I don't consider really 'masculine' and some water/earth signs I don't consider 'feminine'. Then, there are some I just feel are neutral or dual gender. BAT, in the astrological sense 'masculine' and 'feminine' really mean 'active' and 'passive' respectively. Or atleast that's my interpretation. IP: Logged |

I have heard of the Saturn-masculine thing a couple of times. One astrologer said that women with their moon in hard aspect to saturn will sometimes reject their femaleness, won't be able to stand having children and will sometimes act very "rough and manish." This is so true with me. I have my moon in capricorn square saturn, so a double saturn vibe to my moon, it's also semi-square uranus. I can't stand the thought of having kids and though I'm really feminine in appearance I've been told I ACT manly, I used to get in bar fights if that tells you anything. I also make friends with almost all men, not many women. Mars is in Sag angular in my 7th too.IP: Logged |
