There are too many symbols associated with Scorpio - Lizard, Scorpio, Eagle, Phoenix, Dove, Dragon, Owl.

* Which symbol(s) have you seen/experienced in other Scorpios such as your spouse, friends, collegues, date, significant other, high school love, etc.?
* As a Scorpio Sun Sign, which symbols have you experienced yourself?
* Why is Dove associated with Scorpio? Have you ever seen a Dove Scorpio?

The lizard represents the class of scorpions who hide from life and never quite achieve the full measure of their power. They sometimes seek self-destructive outlets such as drugs or even criminal activities to satisfy their obsessive nature.

The Scorpion symbolises a hotheaded warrior who is violently passionate, bluntly sarcastic, egotistical, controlling and manipulative.

The soaring Eagle represents the calm but intense, focused, determined, intuitive and perceptive Scorpio who often developed healing, clairvoyant and counselling abilities.

The secret Serpent, an Egyptian emblem of cosmic wisdom, was grounded in earthly reality, but penetrated the higher levels of consciousness. The serpent periodically sheds outworn habits, beliefs and illusions to facilitate growth through rebirth.

The Phoenix is the confident, courageous, positive transformer that transcends personal ego.

Accordingly Scorpio has further correlations to higher wisdom in the symbol of the Dove. The Scorpio/Dove is seen to have transcended all personal and egocentric desires. He seeks to absorb pain and sorrow from others and replace them with Universal love. Dove is a tranquil, docile creature, well recognised as a bringer of peace.

Dragon To summarize, the three forms of Scorpio represent the three expressions of Love: the Scorpion symbolizes unexpressed Love, the Serpent is the physical expression of Love, and the Eagle is the etheric or energetic expression of Love. In Liber Aleph, Crowley reveals a fourth form of Scorpio, the Dragon, which replaces the Eagle:

“Our Dragon, therefore, combining the Natures of the Eagle and the Serpent, is our Love, the Organon of our Will, by whose Virtue we perform the Work and Miracle of the One Substance, as saith thine Ancestor Hermes Trismegistus, in his Tablet of Smaragda. And this Dragon is called thy Silence, because in the Hour of his Operation that within thee which saith ‘I’ is abolished in Conjunction with the Beloved.”10

The Dragon is a winged serpent, a composite symbol of the physical and etheric expressions of Love. The precedent for this synthesis of the physical and spiritual is given in the first verse of Emerald Tablet of Hermes:

“It is true and no lie, certain, and to be depended upon, that the superior agrees with the inferior, and the inferior with the superior, to effect that one truly wonderful work.”11

By changing the kerubic symbol, Crowley has changed the principal expression of Love from a spiritual bias to a synthesis and balance of its spiritual and physical expressions. Like the Son of the Tetragrammaton, the Dragon is the product and the union of the natures of both its parents, the feminine Eagle and the masculine Serpent. Thus is the Dragon the new and complete symbol of Kerubic Scorpio in the Aeon of Horus.

Owl The wise, watchful, and silent owl is associated with the night, the moon, and the dark mysteries of life. Another Scorpio ruled aviator, the owl’s incredible sense of sight and hearing makes it a hunter like no other – silently able to swoop down and catch its prey completely off guard. The Owl is a great totem to have around when exploring the deeper realms of the subconscious or studying ancient wisdom such as that of astrology or kabbalah. It can help one be silent, watchful, precise, wise, and powerful.

Awesome thread, mb...

Nietzsche's alter-ego, Zarathustra, had a serpent and eagle for companions.
Nietzsche had Sun opposition Pluto, and Scorpio on the Ascendant.

I think most Scorpios can recognize themselves in all of these descriptions.
That is part of the beauty and mystery of the sign; that is contains so much;
that it encompasses both the darkest and the lightest aspects of our being.

If you are not a full-blooded Plutonian, please, dont even think of passing judgment;
you can't begin to have the slightest idea what it means to harbor energies like this.

Also, those of you who think it all comes down to choice, --
you have no concept of what the outer planets signify;
their nature transcends and befuddles ordinary consciousness,
and Pluto, in particular, is concerned with compulsion and the sacrifice of control.

Judgement is the antithesis of understanding.

Thus Spoke HSC.

Phoenix.
Eagle.

Scorpios, for me, have those qualities asocciated with Eagle and Phoenix - pride, courage and resurrection or regeneration.

The Phoenix: I feel my Scorp Asc literally die, over and over and to rise out of the firey mess, again and again.

Then, sometimes, my Pisces sun mermaid tail, switches to a Scorpion tail and I can sting the hell out of someone who has crossed me.

HSC- Thank you

hippichick - Hmm, Don't you think the Phoenix sacrifice is more associated with your Pisces Sun? And, that stinging side could be your Sco ASC?

MB

I certainly have sacrificed much in my life, but the energy I am refering to is the constant "challenges" I am faced with, the death of the old and the birth of the new.

I think my Pisces sun, overlayed with the Scorp asc has nothing to do with sacrifices. I learned many years ago about the martyr.

However, my soft, gentle, Pisces sun, is not to be reckoned with, when I am very angry, I can sting as efficiently as any Scorp sun.

And that is why I indentify with the Scorpion and the Phoenix.

Snow_Dream - How and when do you experience different symbols? Why do you not like to identify with just one? How young are you?

yellowmoon - hmm, what Sun sign are you? how come only Eagle and Phoenix? I thought it's easy to spot Lizards and Scorpions in the day to day world!

i think i move in and out of scorpion, serphant, eagle and pheonix..depending on the situation. I most closly align myself with the serphant and the pheonix..i think sometimes being the eagle scares me.

Unfortunately i know alot of lizards! most of them are scorps who grew up in families where their true personality was not encouraged.

me thought that i had often met with you, And either lived either's heart and speech.

Scorpio/Leo/Leo

"When you realize how perfect everything is you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky" Buddha

After all, when someone at a party asks you what sign you are, and you look at them (penetratingly) and reply, "Scorpio", and they give a little gasp and back away, or instantly inquire what you're doing later, well, it can get a little...tiresome. -Liz Greene

Sowwwy MB, to me "Scorp Moon" represents my dark side, revenge, plotting, conspiracy, never ending grudges, wars, emotions, at times even hate.

That second pic kinda embodies all those things "In my opinion" lol

As a Scorpio Sun Sign, I take it hour by hour.

I easily experience a vast variety of emotions and outlooks in one single day.....for me, the most important part is being able to identify the 'present moment' and choose what is best for me - and remind myself that external circumstances and people do not choose my reactions, my behavior - I do. I have the power to choose how I react and how I behave.

I say yah boo sucks to the lot of you blinking Scorpios. You've twenty gazillion animals to choose from depending on how you're feeling or what colour knickers you're wearing, you say "Don't even TRY to understand how it feels because you're not even close". Oooh, hoity toity....

Yeah? Oh yeah? Well rub it in why don't you?
Try being the only sun sign without an animal or a person to identify with and see how THAT feels. Ooh, how am I feeling today? Oh yeah.... like a fricking pair of scales. That REALLY accurately describes how I'm feeling. Not.

*walks off mumbling and cursing*
