Moon and Neptune aspects ~ I have one, my children do, too. Aspects tend to run in families, as I'm sure many people have noticed. Checking out family charts might be helpful. Obviously with a view of drawing in on how that person uses his/her aspect. Also, friends charts are illuminating. For example, I have two friends with the conjunction. One uses it to their advantage and has never suffered from depression, ever. The other gets upset about how other people (and animals) must feel to an extent they are sometimes dehibiliated with depression. They have to reach for the in-built switch off mechanism otherwise they just can't cope with life.
Astrologically, I would say, look to what else comes into the chart that you can draw on to make the best of the aspect. The Moon and/or Neptune might be drawing on the energies of other planets. It could help bring out the best of the aspect.
Like any aspect, Moon/Neptune can be worked to its best, it takes time but it's the thing I like about astrology. Think outside of empathy and depression as key themes and what else comes up as part of how this manifests? In general cookbooks will say gullible and impressionable for the tricky side, imaginative and creative on the more positive side. But again, I would stress that this should be seen in terms of how the whole chart cancels and reinforces these potentials, and ultimately, the individual does have some choice in how they use their aspects.

p.s
For some reason I have noticed tense Moon/Jupiter aspects on many charts of depressive and manic-depressive people. It is as though the emotions are overpowering.
An example, though I don't know how accurate is this birth data:
