I first used the free reports from astro.com to calculate my midpoints, but they are incorrect because in order to generate a midpoint you must convert your astrological sign based on 360 degrees instead of thirty degrees, and than you add the two planet degrees only when they are converted into 360 basis and than you divide them again, and reduce them back to the 30 degrees of that certain sign. It is really quite simple, it seemed very confusing at first but Robert Hand's "Horoscope Signs" really explains this quite simply. The reason midpoints really cleared things for me is that my Venus/Mars midpoint is located in the 5th house at 15 degrees Taurus. This really explains my creative potential, and the sensuality that is apparent in my paintings, plus my favorite artists are Taurus Suns (Dali and De Lempicka). Midpoints also help one figure out how planetary aspects come out. For example I have a Venus Uranus/Saturn opposition located between the first (Sag.) and 7th (Gem.) houses, but the Venus/Uranus-Saturn midpoint is located in the 9th house in Virgo. Which means I'm fond of 9th house things, but they seem to change and they are expressed in a somewhat practical manner (Virgo), for instance higher education. This also emphasizes my fondness for scholarly types. Midpoints are not black and white they take time to interpret, but as astrologers it is important to understand midpoints to further things that seem unclear in charts. Midpoints can also be used in synastry, which would be vital in understanding how two people's energies are manifested together and where. IP: Logged |

So how would it manifest in synastry?I have for example my Sun/Moon midpoint conjunct someones Moon, also trining his Sun and Mars. Who would feel it most? IP: Logged |

Here is an interpretation of the Sun/Moon midpoint in general from Hand's book: Horoscope Symbols: quote: The balance of male and female within the psyche, which expresses itself in terms of relationships with the opposite sex. Inner psychological balance. May also at times relate to one's experience of the mother and father as a pair.
That last bit is a little biased since not everyone's parents were together when they grew up. However my own Sun/Moon midpoint is in Scorpio, I interpret this as an extreme of one or the other, so to speak, and for me its been my mother. Venus/Mars: quote: Passion, sexual energy, love between the sexes. The physical aspect of sexuality. Creative energy, artistic work. To seek self-satisfaction in love. The balance between the need for relationship and individual self-expression and will.
From the interpretation above, it seems that midpoint would be vital in synastry. IP: Logged |

darkdreamer,I just feel I have an overdose of the serious Capricorn energy, and wish I could be lighter sometimes. That Moon in Capricorn speaks to why I find it hard to express my emotions, intense though they may be.. My Sadge AC helps, but not enough, and my Piscean Venus seems to have other issues with its square to my Neptune in my AC. I guess I just have to work hard to overcome my tendencies.. I was also poking fun at myself in a way too.. some of that dry Capricorn humor in action! What are your placements like (outside of that Sadge AC I know you & I share)? ~Sunshine IP: Logged |

Venusmars, firstly what is the sign your Venus/Asc. midpoint is in? The house placement is important especially since it is your first house, but the sign reflects how these midpoints work depending on the sign. But to clear things up for you, here is an interpretation from Hand's book:Venus/Ascendant: quote: The ability to project attractiveness, to charm others. Getting love from other. The ability to bring about close love relationships. The ability to bring compromise and harmony in the environment.
This sounds pretty good to have in the first house, if I don't say so myself! This midpoint in my natal is in Virgo in the 9th house. This definitely has to do with my desire for anything exotic and articulate, this also adds to the reason people perceive me as quite innocent (Virgo). IP: Logged |

By looking at the sign and where it is in the chart. For example 20 degrees Virgo covers my 9th house, and there you have it, its in the 9th house. IP: Logged |

MVM its not as complex as it sounds. once you translate it back into astrologese (sign+degree) you can see what house it is in just like any other planet or point...i'm finding this interesting - my venus/mars midpoint is exactly conjunct someone's pluto, and his is on my scorpio MC. have to check out some other stuff now!
