Do it. The frustration you feel now will come out sooner or later, the more you suppress it, the more explosive it will become. Better to take control of the situation, than let the situation take control of you.

The tenth house has to do with your public image, how you come off to others... I think illusive/very subjective planets there create a person who is pretty evasive/secretive especially if they hard aspect the ASC. I'm thinking Moon, Neptune, even Venus. I have my Moon and Neptune (squaring my ASC) there and I am very aware that the way I come off to others isn't totally honest/on the surface and in closer relationships I often eventually have to deal with the unravelling of illusions others may have about me.

hey thanks for everyone's replies.

nine: yes definitely i'm letting these people go. i don't give up on friends but i'm feeling kind of empowered at the moment to just be free to be me. and i gotta just step away from some of the difficult people in my life. it's not just their secrets but their negative attitudes as well. they haven't been a good influence on me. they often leave me frustrated, annoyed, and like i gotta be careful where i step around them. i can't be that person anymore.
