A leo moon can be insecure. I've been close friends with two Leo mooners and both were opposites.

A homosexual, Sagittarius guy with a leo moon was the complete opposite of insecure. He loved his job and took great pride in being in charge and directing others. Plus, he was a huge fashion queen so he loved looking his best and feeling that way too.

Another close friend of mine was a Taurus with a leo moon. She was very insecure. Her appearance mattered too but only because she wasn't very happy with it. It was more of an obsession based on insecurity vs. self love.

It could go either way in my opinion, depending on other placements.
