I was wondering how many people here are self employed...like really self employed enough where you pay rent/mortgage, electricities, have insurance, etc? I was hoping you could share your chart(or major aspects), or the chart of someone you know who works for themselves.

I'm self-employed!
I've got Uranus in the 6th (HATE working for others, hate a regular 9-5 kinda job ZZzzzzzzzzzz). My Uranus opposing my moon makes me want to work on my own terms, because if I am not in the mood, then I hate to be in a place where I HAVE to be.
Also Pluto in the 6th (which I have) doesn't seem to fare well with being told what to do in general, esp if the person is incompetent. And I hate having people look over my shoulder to see if I am 'doing the job properly.'
I have Capricorn on the MC... I think I like being my own 'boss'. I like doing things on my own terms, no matter how slowly they unfold.

A large chunk of my time (75%) is spent working at home. I'm better at creating solo then having my concept executed by a group later. I have always been self-employed (except for that time of apprenticeship after college), which is for the best as I can't take orders from people I have no respect for (work-wise), and that respect is based on my perception of their competence.

My MC is in Pisces, and I attribute to it my need to be doing two lines of work at a time. I do things on my own terms and at my own pace, like MVM.

I am. Not very successful at it yet though.

I'll have to check my chart and compare with the ones here, but I have a terrible time working for others, it is like death to me. AND the 9 to 5, I'm with MVM zzzzz.
I usually have some sort of job, job, but I would say that I make the bulk of my money doing my own thing.
(getting ready to make dog clothes! Big seller these days)
The thought of routine freaks me out so bad, and That IS in my chart, I was reading about that last night in bed, but I can't remember where the placement was.
I have actual marketable skills! I know, surprising isn't it. Like a license to cut hair, which I hate. But I cut hair for free at the nursing home, why, because if I don't feel like going that day, I just call and say I'll be there tomorrow, what are they gonna do, fire me???

I think for some of us (and I don't mean this in an arrogant way, tho that is how it is gonna sound) it is just difficult taking orders from someone who you know in your heart is a complete incompetant idiot. There, that didn't sound arrogant at all. lol.

i used to think, "oh those poor dogs" whenever i saw their owners dressed their little guys in ridiculous costumes, until one day my mom had a dog and it was so tiny that it needed to actually wear something to keep warm.

i am waaaaaay far from paying rent and getting insurance, but officially self-employed, as a musician and illustrator (the rest i gotta earn by being employed from time to time, but normally quit or get fired pretty fast...). nothing in the 6th house, house ruler is in the 1st conjunct Neptune. Pluto and NN is in the 10th house, with its ruler in the 1st house conjunct the Sun (wide).

I would love to be self-employed. That is my goal in life. I have had 30 plus jobs and I have hated every one of them. Working in offices makes me physically ill (fluorescent lights and crappy elevators give me migraines, seriously) and I haven’t done anything that feels right. I want to be an online instructor and I have started the ball rolling by sending out a proposal for a non-credit education class to a nearby community college. I am hoping that pans out and I’ll probably start teaching part time for the experience and then…..working from home! Yay! I won’t exactly be self-employed but I won’t have to be around people (lol, am I really a Leo?).

i have been self-employed most of my life. frequently i have had "day jobs" as well, but only if i could basically self-determine within them. at the moment i am both, the job is running the place where i conduct my own practice! the owner is never here and she is as off the wall as i am.

if i had to punch a clock or wear clothes to suit someone else i would last about 5 mins. i've tried it!!

leo sun conj pluto/merlin. uranus in 5th conj mars in 6th. scorpio MC and mostly sag 10th house. AND aqua rising w/1st house pisces moon...

I'm self-employed. I am not making much money, but I am able to barely survive. I have only been self-employed for 2-3 yrs, so I am at the toughest period of self-employment, they say.

Work/money related placements.

-2nd House Ruler Jupiter is cnj my Scorpio AC.
-My Neptune is in 2nd.
-My Moon, which is the 10th House Ruler is in it's own house conjunct the Cancer MC.
My 7th house ruler, Venus is conjunct PoF in -11th.

Errr... That's the money related things, I think...

As for why I am not designed to have a boss...

MyVirgoMask, I have pluto in the 6th too, and your post describes me to a tee.

Also pluto in the 6th means that one is faced with intense power struggles at work with other people, so working alone and being self-reliant is always more fulfilling.

Dervish- your chart is intriguing..dont see any "uranus" themes, but noticed the strong LIBRA stellium all conj Pluto/Saturn(there is a lot of personal power you are able to use wisely). Ruler of your midheaven is conj this intense stellium. Ruler of your 6th is conj this stellium as well. Your 6th and 10th house connect to all these planets. Its very fasincating. If I could ask(you dont have to!) what you do for a living? Artist? Im thinking clothing designer/something with clothes/art or wedding organizer of sorts?

I generally call myself a "Jane of all Trades." But yeah, I do work with a lot of clothes & other crafts. I both get clothes and sometimes thrift stores even give me clothes to enhance, and an old pair of pants will suddenly sell for a lot more by the time I'm done with them. I also do a lot of candles, though I only do that because it's so easy as it doesn't make me much money. I sell a lot of wrapping paper I make myself for the holidays, too (often to the same thrift stores I sell clothes to).

Back when I regularly barely managed to get by, I crashed art shows for free food, too. 'Course I made sure to blend in.

I do other stuff, too. A significant money maker is a "mail proxy service" where people order stuff or subscriptions in my name and delivered to my PO Box, and then I deliver it to them for a "finder's fee."

But I think most comes from entertainment gigs, like working with a small biz hosting & handling birthday parties for children (so small it's run from a home, though we all show up where the party is).

I also work with children in other ways. I made much more money than I expected a few months ago taking children to see the Hannah Montana movie by parents grateful not to have to see it over & over themselves and/or desperate for a little time for themselves. In addition to any expenses (tickets, snacks, even gas, though one or more of the mothers almost always volunteered to drop us off & pick us up), I got $10 a child...and I made hundreds of dollars while that movie ran. Just one example of how I find ways to make money when the opportunity presents itself.

Iam not an selfemployed but i earn money and i have bought three flat. One to my self and two to my children. All my money i earn get to pay back to the bank. I have not so much bank loan there now.

In my house 2 i have merkurius,uranus and pluto.

I have also a square from that stellium to my moon and an oppositon from stellium to my saturnus but that is quite another matter

i hope someday to be self employed. i have a lot of side stuff that makes a little money, but nothing that would support my lifestyle. someday i would love to make money exclusivly doing what i love.

i have a packed 4th and 5th house, mars and neptune in 6th, and my lifes work has revolved around sick kids and thier families for over 15 years.

i get burnt out sometimes with what i do for a living and it takes a toll on me.

i would love nothing more than being able to survive on my art and doing what i love as a full time job. i hope someday it will be in my cards.

jupiter in the second house gemini. taurus asc.

i stay because knowing i have a steady cash flow and my bills are paid on time is really important to my psyche. i also stay because for some reason i feel like i am doing what i am supposed to be doing....but like i said, i get burnt out sometimes. i could use a vacation now.

My mother is self-employed, and has had many businesses both with employees and as the only employee (she likes the last one best).

She has Mercury, Sun, Venus, and Saturn in Sag all conjunct her Sag MC and a Capricorn Moon in the 10th. Her Uranus in Leo in the 6th also trines her MC, and her NNode in Libra in the 7th and Chiron in Aquarius in the 12th sextile her MC.
