Maybe if the mods move it, then we'll find out. I've seen threads go haywire, without an appearance by Valus. As to this: I was a vegetarian for almost five years, and I barely eat meat now. I do need meat to feed my dogs and cats, though, and I can't afford to buy organic. IP: Logged |

Hi teasel, For me weaning off meat has been a natural progression. I can honestly say that seeing what factory farming is about completely eradicated any doubt I had as to eat factory meat. I hate to see how much organic stuff costs but I do believe that is the actual price of wholesome good produce. I understand about pets. I have one and I am worried that me feeding her regular pet food may contribute to a shorter life or some disease. Luckily she's a big veggie fan. IP: Logged |

But then the massively produced animals would be massively exiled and abandoned. But I still think that people should do something about how the animals are treated, rather than thinking about eating them or not. That's more effective and faster (than waiting for every single human to stop eating meat lol) to end the cruelty with the animals. IP: Logged |

They are doing something, comica. There is a big local farming community. If you start buying local and searching for the organic stuff at the supermarket, retailers will catch up with you. It's a slow process, it won't happen overnight and there will be no abused animals really left to fend for themselves. Factory Farming is unnatural. www.eatwild.com is a site where you can connect with local farmers. The problem is not simply with meat consumption. The problem is with consuming hormone laden, feces decorated, tortured to death and abused meat. If you can't be a vegetarian - fine. Just know the facts about factory farming.------------------ Know Yourself IP: Logged |

Yin, I see. I've finally watched the movie too, and it's horrible how the animals were tortured and disrespected, and how the industry does things. I've thought that just simply stop eating animals wouldn't help, but yeah, if the consumers are looking for natural products more often, then it could make a difference.IP: Logged |

I am lacto ovo vegetarian myself. When it comes to diet, I am about to each his/her own.Not eating meat is going to save all the animals. Many animals eat other animals. It's just part of their natutre. Some animals will even look at us as food. I also find it interesting that there are carnivorous plants too.
I am not sure how we can treat animals as humane if they are going to be eaten any way. It seems very contradicting.
I read that some Native Americans thank the animals before they eat their meat. There is a lot of judgment about the hunting of seals, but it's a regular diet of the Inuit people.
Cat and dogs are domestic pets here, but they are often eaten as food in some Asian countries.
In some areas of Africa, gorillas and chimpanzees are eaten. It's referred to as bush meat.
A lot of diet depends on the culture.
