This movie changed my whole perspective on food in America! See if you want to know what you've been eating!Sorry this has nothing to do with Astrology but I wanted to share with everyone. I'm putting it under the "Health and Healing" category too. www.foodincmovie.com

It'll make sure you never eat beef again, as the factories with the cows covered in feces is disgusting. But what got me the most was the story about that women's son Kevin who died of E. Coli was so sad. He was healthy one moment, then in just twelve days dying from internal hemmoraging. He was just 2 years old, and couldn't drink any water, so his parents had to wet his mouth with water with a sponge because he was so thirsty. He was practically biting the sponge trying to suck out more water. It was heart wrenching how much this 2 yr old suffered and his parents had to stand by and watch being able to do nothing about it. So his mom is now trying to pass Kevin's law, named after him. I think it's one of those movies that's hard to watch, but you'll be so glad you did. Everyone needs to watch it. IP: Logged |

I find anything that educates a person on how meat is killed and then processed is an eye opener and can be enough to seriously turn a person off to meat for good.I took a field trip to a chicken processing plant in high school and saw how chickens are processed.....I refused to ever eat chicken for 2 months after that. Yes, I saw it several weeks ago. I loved it! I made posts about it in some other forums but people weren't too interested. But it did horrify me, but in a good way. In a necessary way. It will stay with you for a while. It had the same effect on me as when I read "Diet for a New America" years ago and became a vegetarian because I could not live in denial anymore after reading it and seeing the photos. This film inspired me to go raw vegan. I was already thinking about it but this made it impossible to go on eating the 'food' I was eating and pretend it wasn't harmful (and not just harmful to me). I will definitely get the DVD when it comes out for motivation. IP: Logged |

I eat a lot of free range meat. I already know about the horrors of the meat industry. Tbh, even if they showed me cows covered in poop I would still continue eating meat since I've been doing it for 21 years and haven't died yet lol. IP: Logged |

Ignorance is bliss. But mature adults recognize that they have a responsibility to confront the truth, and look it dead in the eye. If you cannot stand to look at what is being done for the sake of your appetites, how can you stand to pay for it? Its your money that's contracting these brutal killings and the tortures that precede them. Don't you owe it to the animals, and to yourself, to see what you are responsible for? These are the consequences of YOUR actions. That is what should make you sick, much more than the images themselves. I can say now that I have actually saw Food Inc and I had nightmares. It did not leave me with a good feeling at all. I channelled the feelings of the animals and it didn't feel good.....the chickens were worried about their babies being taken away and the feel of not being able to move. I felt this one chickens last breath.....exhausted and can't breath. I felt what feelings the pigs felt at that death house and nearly cried watching this cow float through the air. I would hate to live a life as a food animal.....to be born to feed the world for what? What kind of an existence is that? The chickens never got the opportunity to be free range and tp enjoy the sun light and move around freely in the field. Feed lots are a horrific and disgusting idea and what kind of a life is that for a cow.....get put into a crowded pen and fed lots of food and then shipped off.... Sigh IP: Logged |

Hmm..blame my Libra Moon but I would take the information in the documentary with a grain of salt.Just for the simple fact that it was made by the same production company that made Al Gore's "An inconvenient Truth". Facts were manipulated taken to the scary extreme. Plus Al Gore is a politician and I wouldn't trust a politician's agenda, no matter how environmentally conscious is appears to be. Apparently with the Food Inc doco, they invited on screen rebuttals from the companies (Montesanto) but when the companies took up the offer, they were denied access and not allowed to attend. That's biased already. I'm not actually talking about the issue itself, but about the facts presented. Whether it's global warming, 2012, economic crisis, food production etc, it seems as though they're taking it to the extreme with the scare tactics. But its good that this is scaring people into thinking about their food choices and what they're putting into their body. It reminds me of a documentary I watched in Sociology years ago before these topics became a pervasive daily thing that invades our media. It's called THE CORPORATION and its was along the same lines as Food Inc. It's a fantastic documentary that looks at the real facts and not produced by a massive corporation itself (unlike Food Inc). It even looked into Montesanto and how they were giving cows growth hormones to produce more milk, even though the cattle were growing cysts and tumours and puss was being transferred into the milk. Montesanto is the same company that produced Agent Orange, which was spread all over Vietnam during the war. It also interviewed the companies that it was making their allegations against, so you hear both sides of the coin. That's very, very important in my opinion (Libra moon, i know) I just don't agree with the way Food Inc chose to do their documentary and that The Corporation is a much better, fairly presented documentary of the same facts. That's all IP: Logged |

I love pork, beef and any other kind of meat and this would not change my eating habits at all. Yes the animals in this doc were treated wrong, but there is also another side to it. You cant go by just one movie/doc.IP: Logged |

Haven't watched the movie yet, but I don't think that it's the eating habbits that needs to be changed - but how the food is processed. Eating meat is part of what we biollogically are. But what we can and should be aware is how we do it.IP: Logged |

Yes saw it about 5 mos ago, recommended by a vegan I know. Thankfully I've been vegetarian for 11 yrs now. Read Fast Food Nation about 7 yrs or so back, it's much the same tone as the movie. You might be interested in that as well. Probably Diet for a new america & Diet For A Small Planet too. They're all classics now in that category.Personally, what that movie showed was TAME compared to other things that go on. This film is not incredibly in-depth but a good overview for a beginner. If you want a primer that's not too brutal, Food Inc. is a good start. One thing I liked that it touched on is the corrupt power of for instance the FDA and companies like Monsanto. FDA does not regulate Copper and Dioxin in the meat supply, apparently, these are newish items in the press, I don't follow the meat industry that closely so this was news to me, Report Says Contaminated Meat Is In Supermarkets American Meat Is Even Grosser Than You Thought They're talking about it as if it's new knowledge that hormones and antibiotics are in meat, I thought that was common, but I'm glad they are putting articles out there. Apparently when cooked (exposed to high heat) these metals do not lessen, their content grows stronger. So if you are still eating meat, it is VERY important to take care of your kidneys/liver. The best filtration system you can afford (no, bottled water is mostly not regulated as far as I can tell and the bottles are not environmentally friendly). Make sure to carry your filtered water with you in a *safe* non-disposable container. You're making your liver and kidneys do a lot of work. And please don't heat foods in plastic containers in the microwave, if you have to use a microwave. Hmm, for meat eaters I think if you'd be comfortable slaughtering the animal and prepping the meat, etc. then have at it, we were made to process both. But, if that idea makes your stomach churn my opinion is you should reconsider your food choices. Although I've been strict Vegetarian for 11 yrs I'm not militant about it, I respect everyone's food choices. My prime concern now is the poor regulation of the industry and the lies that we are fed about our food no matter *what* products we are given to purchase, bottom line. Vegetables get infected with E.Coli too, it's everywhere, this isn't just about the meat. The most simple and loudest vote we have is with our dollar. It's that straightforward. The vote you make with where you spend your money is heard more than the vote that you make for Local/National Govt. Fact. And one of the best things you can do right now is buy a packet of seeds and start growing your own, in a neighbor's backyard even, if you don't have the space, offer to chip in on their water bill. Plant what you can eat that will grow well for your zone, you're saving money and that will be the thing you eat that you will not have to worry what country it came from and how dirty the water was that fed it. Buy local too, but that can be more expensive. I'm a big supporter of community gardens. If they could take out one damaged park per city, or every other city, (mine has at least one that is beyond repair), and transform that, it would help a lot. If you can, go to your city council meeting and make your voice heard regarding that issue, and keep at it if they don't listen the 1st 2nd or 3rd time. And save yourselves, move if you live near a refinery, etc. Keep x-rays from doctors/dentists at a bare minumum and avoid if at all possible, limit the medicines you take, and bombard your doctors with questions about everything obtaining to your health, they are supposed to work for you, they should because that x-ray you just took cost you over $100. If you can, seek alternative treatment, reach for the heating pad (a version that does not emit electromagnetic frequencies), warm spa, warm bath before a Tylenol, etc. Don't neglect your sex life, also, orgasms are healthy. And if you can afford it, please schedule a monthly massage from a trained professional, this will help your mental emotional spiritual and physical wellbeing, this is a luxury but if you can do it you will see progress. Be wary of all nutritional supplements, these are not regulated, get these from natural sources if at all possible, and do research on every single pill you digest, esp. from psychiatrists, but do not stop taking these without your doctor's approval about a plan for medication withdrawl based on your symptoms, etc., these can be helpful, but by and large they have been heavily over-prescribed, esp. to children under 18. And please research the Bach Flower Remedies It's little steps. Signed, Venus conj Moon, H6 (Capricorn on the cusp) IP: Logged |

Between this, The Cove, Defenders of Wildlife, rare Hare Krishna meet-ups, back-stage hidden cameras at circuses, puppy mills and Peta messages - I feel terrible for these animals. If I was naive to think these people who work in these places aren't working there to put feed on their table - I'd think they were heartless. I still eat meat - chicken and turkey, but I'm trying to stop it. I eat fish and I love tuna - that will be the hardest for me to wein off of. The best I could offer is a thank you to them for sacraficing themselves - and that's through prayer over my food or consciously knowing that an animal sacraficed themself for my nourishment and picture them in a beautiful place. I love animals. Sidebar: my cat playfully bit me, it kind of hurt and I said - imagine if I bit you, how hard it would hurt. People eat cats you know. My cat's eyes got so big when I said that!!!!!IP: Logged |
