An prime example of a life span lived in public revealing the good, the bad and the ugly. Extreme highs and lows at the hands of life and at his own hands. Rising again and again from being broken over and over again and surviving "to comb grey hair".

Love him or hate him, (especially if you hate him) it's a great chart to study for learning how to survive your own mistakes and the bricks that life throws at you over and over again. An example that we are all good and all bad and that's what it means to be fully human.

Can you find his view of his parents in this chart?

Can you find his siblings and what they meant to him in this chart?

Can you find his constant competition with the grim reaper? The man stared into the face of death intimately countless times.

And finally, his first communion was given to him by Pope Pius XII... Whether you're Catholic or not (I'm not) do you think that this "special" blessing had anything to do with his being the only Kennedy brother not to die at a young age? He was the first Kennedy to wonder outloud if there was a "Kennedy Curse". Do you believe in it?

This is a metaphysical forum, let's talk about it. Feel free to honor him or question his ethics and learn about a long life span with amazing ups, downs, courage, cowardice and plain old humanity.

Hi Lara,

I'm doing really well and I hope things are going well for you, too.
But I hereby challenge you to tell us what "OUCH" means in terms of this chart. Pretend I'm Teddy and I ask you to look at my chart. As I sit across from you are you going to say, "OUCH" you have Saturn at 29 Capricorn. YOU'RE CURSED!!! How many people have focused on the wrong battles because they thought they were cursed or had something in their chart that suggested tragedy was looming or built into their chart? They focus on avoiding pain instead of pushing through and getting on with life, which is what Ted Kennedy did time and time again. Through the deaths of 3 brothers, 1 sister, several nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues, not to mention his own mishaps, etc.

I'm not trying to beat you up, I'm just trying to learn some secret ingredients of why he did not break down completely as he watched each of his brothers die tragically (including Joe who died in an airplane explosion during WWII).

Does Saturn at 29 Capricorn have anything to do with it?

Is it possible that Saturn at 29 Capricorn may have saved him somehow?

Lets dive in, Lara. Tell me whatcha know, girl? I neeeeeeds to know.

Geo, i'm no good at natal charts but intuitively i looked at the chart ruler @ 29' capricorn and thought bl00dy hell!!

So, intuitively again i look again and see:

moon conjunct neptune/8th house. Could he have had the ability to disengage from his emotions by seeing them as he wanted to not as they are? Moon is 7th ruler.
sun opposing this in 2nd... hmm, could he have lived in his own little world on some levels and it saved him?

Jupiter trine venus - nice. Supportive for venus.

Chiron in 4th - family/home deaths? heartache?

That saturn opposing pluto looks pretty formidable in the 1st/7th axis.

Can you tell me where his karma is please? might be interesting to see it.

I think that Moon/Neptune conjunction in Virgo is pretty fascinating...and in the 8th house, too. A deep idealist.

Karma at 2 degrees 16 minutes Aquarius.

That's mighty close to his Saturn. That's a heaping spoonful of Karma.

Karma in 1st House in humanitarian Aquarius. He was a quintessential humanitarian.

About that Moon-Neptune conjunction in the 8th House. That's where death constantly challenged him with confusion, alcoholism, a mother who strongly influenced him with the Catholic religion, she almost pushed him to become a priest. Now that's deep.

It's also highly suggestive of the Chappaquiddick accident where he drove off of a bridge into the water (Neptune) resulting in the death of Mary Joe Kopechne (Moon). It's in the 8th House of death where this happened. And his resulting confusion or blacking out after it happened. It all ties in.

When you pump up the meanings on those two symbols together in a stressful relationship, you can an expert, tireless debater. That's why he was "The Lion of the Senate". Mars rules his 3rd house of communications, can you hear him roar? Thank God he didn't waste that aspect.

I saw Ted Kennedy once in the senate. It was in 1999 when the senate was debating the Clinton impeachment. Unfortunately I was there on the last day that the republicans were speaking. As we filed into the balcony you could see all the senators and Teddy in his regular seat. But you couldn't see his face because he was purposely holding the Washington Post open wide as if reading it, but clearly showing his disrespect and disdain for what the republicans were doing. All you could see was this giant poof of white hair and if there was one thing that guy had (and all the Kennedys) was loads of HAIR!!

You could only see his face when he would loudly turn the pages and then open them again so the paper faced the republican senator speaking at the time. Ted was bringin' the funny and his own special protest. Only a Kennedy could get away with something like that right on the senate floor. I'm gonna miss the guy. I sooo wish he was here to help out with this health bill. This was his life. The only other person who could really get this off the ground with a little more ease is Hilary Clinton. He basically poured all of his knowledge about the issues into her but now her agenda is the state.

I agree Lara, but the only other asteroid I want to discuss is asteroid "Kennedy" which I found in his chart at 24 degrees 4 minutes Aquarius. It is conjunct his Mars at 27 degrees. We can have a field day with that conjunction. But I want to stick to the planets before we branch off into the asteroids.

Although, we can do what we want on this discussion forum so I don't want to suppress any views.

to me the critical degree cappy saturn in 1st OPPOSING PLUTO is what hits me between the eyes. it perfectly describes someone whose whole identity is wrapped up in duty and keeping on in the face of energies way too powerful and subterranean to fight...

and the moon/neptune does smack of the alcohol and woman problems, but also probably saved him at chappaquiddick, ie by being drunk he may have escaped the fate a conscious person would have succumbed to. the worst accident i was ever in i was asleep and slumped to the floor where i was completely unhurt by the impact. and many drunk people survive "fatal" accidents because they were too relaxed to panic...

i wonder if his life was hell and he isn't better off now? can he have been so blind as to not notice the run-ups to john and bobby's deaths and connect the dots?

Hi Everyone! Hi Geocosmic Valentine!
I'm still at the beginning stages with the whole chart reading thing.

The 8th house cusp is leo - i'm thinking a publicized death. also - leo's ruler is the sun in his 2nd house in the sign of pisces which makes me believe he was destined to be sensitive to the needs of the people and that his death would have a deep impact on the people. I also see that his moon and neptune are both in virgo which tells me that he probably needed a lot of time to himself to recoup - he may have been into meditation and i believe that he may have payed special attention to the kinds of food he ate. the ruler of the 3rd house (siblings) is Aries - Mars is in Aquarius and pluto is in the 7th house (this is where the debate that aries could be co-ruled by pluto and mars comes in). mars in aquarius makes his style of communication and his siblings drive to be connected to always come around to the state of the universe. if we go along with the mars/pluto co ruling aries - pluto is in cancer here so any attempts to upgrade the homeland has been met with opposition especially from people in power and that maybe, thinking along those lines (against the status quo) further pushed his agenda and gained him supporters. also, i think he may have been ready to go and i say this because the sun was conjunct his moon and neptune - leading back to that whole need to retract from the public from time to time. There are some other things I saw but forgot how the connection can be made. This whole year really got me to realize the power of nodes - didn't they just change to the north node at 29 capricorn, south node in cancer at 29? With his natal saturn here - i believe that was some sort of forewarning that his role as a leader of his homeland was coming to an end or at least - the work he had been doing up until his death was going to pass on to someone else. With chiron in the 4th in taurus and venus in the 3rd house in uranus - the sudden deaths (i don't remember if Robert and/or his brother John were inflicted with head wounds as well) but with such a sudden event (uranus in aries) - it lead to his role as a sort of protector of home and country. their deaths kind of forced his hand or at least, helped him come to grips with the compassionate nature he had but at that time, probably didn't want to admit to. He is meant to be more compassionate than practical but i believe he was aware of this which might have made his life role to be sensitive to the needs of others a little easier for him to accept even though he was no stranger to doing things by the book. I don't think he wanted to do things by the book but I feel he was created to feel the need to do things in a specific order which probably drove him nuts in the beginning - I don't know much about his public down-time - he may have liked to sail and the likes. It helped him get through overthinking that everything has to be in its place. I also believe he was receptive of other cultures, religions, philosophy and such - I believe this may have helped him gain insight into what his fellow country man wanted/needed. I believe he may have taken that seriously - I wonder if there was something else related to all of this he was into that we don't know about. He was probably very concerned about the water of the world.

Hi Katatonic,

I love your interpretation and explaination of his Moon-Neptune conjunction being his saving grace in that Chappaquiddick accident. Being too relaxed (inebriated) to be injured. Amazing!! It makes sooo much sense.

Also, there were a lot of people, including family member, who saw the run up to both John and Bobby's deaths. But these two men were so powerful and did what they wanted. All you could do is hope and pray that they would listen. I've read many books about Bobby by his colleagues at the time and they were all strongly aware of his political recklessness at the time and most of them warned him loudly. It was almost as if Bobby had a death wish. He was WELL aware of the fatal arena he was working in and he bated it, faced it down like the pitt bull he was.

of course we wish he hadn't done it that, if he had only used a little more caution. Oh well...

Anymore insights?

I also suspect that with that Moon-Neptune conjunction in the 8th house, Teddy was probably HIGHLY intuitive

I like what you mentioned about religion and philosophy, LovinU, because when I looked at his chart it appears that he would have been a great religious philosopher or a healer (based on the Neptune-Moon conjunct in the 8th in analytical/healing Virgo). I wonder if his mother picked up on that and that's why she was pushing the priesthood idea. He wasn't groomed for politics until his dad arranged for someone else to take office with the understanding that as soon as Ted was old enough the office would be handed over to him!

I think his saving graces were Saturn, Venus, and Neptune. With a Cappy Asc, he already had the capacity to move through whatever was handed to him, and I think having Saturn in the personal house in the sign it rules gave him the extra oomph to overcome so many situations in life. I view Saturn as capable of protection in a chart.

Venus in the third and trine Jupiter helped endear him to his siblings (awwww, he was the baby and they spoiled him - but also felt he was the weakest link among the brothers). It also gave him charisma from a PR standpoint (what he said and what he wrote (3rd) was attractive to others (7th). He also worked well with Republicans, which is pretty unusual. That Jupiter in the 7th allowed him to form good relationships with others that were beneficial.

As for his parents, the empty 10th house shows no real support from the paternal parent or relationship with them. The Chiron in the 4th house shows unavailable parents and a troublesome childhood. Wasn't he called the black sheep by other Kennedys? It would fit because Chiron in the 4th is the black sheep placement.

IMO, the hot mess of Sun/Merc/Mars opposing Moon in intercepted houses is his downfall astrologically. If it weren't for his Neptune in 8th I doubt he would have gotten close to the grim reaper more than once. I've seen Neptune in 8th in many charts of people who have "cheated death" and/or made an incredible comeback.

I strongly feel that his Neptune conjunct Moon gave him his Teflon-ness in personal matters. He very much believed what he felt, regardless of facts. I'm talking about his personal emotions, not his politics. He survived a lot of odd situations that one would expect might cause a nervous breakdown for someone else. But I think his Neptune glamorized his views into what his own fairytale version would be, and the next thing he knew his emotions were healed and everything was a-ok. When he got kicked out of Harvard for cheating, I'm sure the Neptune/Moon combo enabled him to glaze over it quickly. I guess that sounds a bit negative, so I should add that with Chiron in 4th and Saturn in 1st I'm pretty sure he would have had problems with insecurity and so the Neptune/Moon was actually quite helpful to him. It also is a very psychic empath combo, so no doubt it's the origin of his stance on the rights of minority groups, or those who have been under-represented.

It will be interesting to see how he is viewed in a few years. On one hand, he was a selfish, cheating drunkard who left a woman to die. On the other hand, he was involved with the Civil Rights Bill and the Americans with Disability Act, and he was a strong supporter of women's rights, LBTG rights, and socialized healthcare. Definitely an example of how extremely high and how extremely low a person can go in life!

Hi LuvinU,

I'm still reading picking through your very interesting commentary, but I'm just gonna say it, it's hard for me when people don't use capitals, punctuation and grammar, especially with such an intricate language like astrology. There, I said it, don't mean to be mean, but just in case it makes a difference. That's all about that. I should be finished with it shortly but in the meantime...

I just Solar Arc'd his chart to August 12, 1944 when he was 12 years old. His brother Joe Kennedy, Jr. died in an airplane explosion over the Atlantic Ocean during WWII.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_P._Kennedy,_Jr.

Solar Arc Pluto=Sun - Sun rules his 8th House of death. Usually Solar Pluto=Sun signals one of the most powerful identity changes in our lives.

You brought up a compelling debatable fact, Pluto and Mars' co-rulership of Aries and Scorpio. Mars should hold some strong importance in his chart in terms of siblings, especially since his brothers were all so powerful. It would make more sense if Pluto was the ruler of his 3rd house because it also sextiles his MC, his career. Pluto is so powerful and executive and prominent, exhibited so highly in the public 7th house in the Leo spotlight.

I'll be back, I have brain burn. LOOOOL!!

Musette,

Will you marry me? BRAVO!!! Not only did you hit the nail on the head with all this stuff, you built an entire house!

I love your mention of Neptune contributing to his "Teflon-ness" and how he escaped death many times. Let's not forget the airplane crash he was in that broke his back, forcing his wife to campaign for him for his second term as senator, his brother Jack and his aids spinning Teddy's expulsion from Harvard over his cheating on the spanish exam and really, "slipping" into the senate in the first place. Palms were "greased" in Massachusettes in order for him to get into the senate. Heck, the Kennedys "greased" John into the presidency (He's got a prominent Neptune as well).

And thank you for reminding me of the safety that Saturn provides and how it helped him to move through so many of the odd obstacles he had to deal with. I find it interesting that he had both Saturn and Pluto angular. Not really an opposition, but if the shoe fits, wear it.

Ted was not considered the black sheep of the family. Jack was. He didn't show much ambition (Saturn conjunct Neptune at MC) until his his 2nd year in Congress, which is a long time to flounder around. He wasn't really in competition with his older brother Joe, but he took was a deep 2nd fiddle to his brother Joe who was being groomed to become president. After Joe was killed, Joe, Sr's focus of presidential training fell onto Jack.

My feeling is that he'll be viewed as one of the greatest senators in U.S. history. He has already accomplished more than his brother did as president (because he had more time, of course) and his scandals will fade with time. He grew up, even though he went through his bad boy days (which all the Kennedys did) he did finally grow up (a few times) and continued to work toward making our country better. They're already saying it now, and it's true.

I know this isn't the input that you asked for but the recent solar eclipse at 29Can exactly opposed his chart ruler.

Also tUranus has been sitting on his node for some months.

I agree with you, AG, I personally don't consider aspects past 6 degrees. 9 to 10 degrees is much too wide. I guess I should put it this way, I get strong results when I keep the aspects super tight.

Winter,

Thanks for the reminder of the Cancer 29 eclipse. And with Saturn ruling his 1st House health center, it makes a lot of sense.

does it make it more potent when they are in their natural houses? So would the orb then be allowable in this case?
