I was looking at how many things that the luminaries, planets, and dwarf planet, rule in Astrology

These are the objects
with pages of the rulerships. They are listed in 2 columns on each page.

THE RULERSHIP BOOK
by Rex E. Bills

things ruled by the Sun
pages 165 to 171

things ruled by the Moon
pages 173 to 183

things ruled by Mercury
pages 185 to 196

things ruled by Venus
pages 198 to 212

things ruled by Mars
pages 213 to 225

things ruled by Jupiter
pages 227 to 240

things ruled by Saturn
pages 242 to 262

things ruled by Uranus
pages 264 to 278

things ruled by Neptune
pages 280 to 296

things ruled by Pluto
pages 297 to 308

As you see, the things that are ruled by these objects are numerous. There are many possibilites of how any aspect, planetary placement can manifest as.

The asteroids, transneptunians, and centaurs may actually refine astrological charts by giving specific details. Then the astrological charts would seem to be less vague with so many meanings for the luminary, planetary aspects.

I wonder about the rulerships of Eris which is larger than Pluto. Will it take over rulerships of certain things ruled by traditional objects just like the outerplanets and Pluto did. What about Eris and Pluto's fellow dwarf planets, Ceres,Makemake,Haumea?

Many things are shared by the objects too. For example, Saturn and Pluto share rulerships of death, dead. Moon and Neptune share rulerships of dreams, dream consciousness.

It seems so complicated to me.

For example, I can imagine ways that every astrological object I'm aware of could rule dreams. (Neptune because, well, Neptune rules dreams! Illusion, fantasy, etc...Pluto because of dreams and the underworld...Mercury because dreams are messages...Jupiter because dreams are one way we expand ourselves and our consciousness...etc etc)

I'm not sure how helpful I find rulerships. I wonder if they're a little bit a relic of the "Part of Love, Part of Fortune, Part of Enemies" era of astrology that's more deterministic. I think to really work with anything in a chart you have to look several places.

Yeah.....all of it can be questioned.

with the discoveries of the transneptunians including the larger Eris, I question Pluto's rulerships bigtime.

Which is exactly how I use them. Often you hear detractors of these objects [both real and hypothetical] say that it clutters or obscures what the classical 'planets' are saying. I use them to fine tune and clarify.

I usually look long and hard at a 'plain' chart first, often using equal houses, then refine it with the so called minutia

I have found that asteroid use points out things I might have missed. [I have yet to memorize most of my mid-points]

There are reams of key words, to the point where is gets a little silly, then you have classical v. modern interps.

For me the minutia actually helps, and as you said refine with their specificity.

I use Martha Lang Westcott as well.
