Full Moon October 4, 2009
2:10 am EDT

11:10 Aries Moon and Libra Sun

The true division of humanity is between those who live in light and those who live in darkness. Our aim must be to diminish the number of the latter and increase the number of the former. That is why we demand education and knowledge. ~ Victor Hugo

The Full Moon in October is simply fascinating. I love fascinating charts! It's an ethical Full Moon. It's a moon where you will learn about ethics and your belief system- your own ethics as well as the
ethics of other people. It will help you clarify your belief system.
We have a Finger of God releasing as another Finger of God forms. The releasing and forming Finger of God means the events taking place under the lunation are going to ask us to make a choice or point our lives in a particular direction based on Chiron and Neptune's changing vision. The new, adjusted or modified vision or direction in which we are heading will become clear to us over the next quarter as Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune station and turn to go direct.

The choices that we face under this Full Moon's Finger of God will feel "fated", pre-destined, or deeply intrinsic to our nature. Fingers of God have a way of redirecting our lives, presenting us with a choice in the apparent path before us. The choice with these two Fingers of God is between our emotions and thoughts about what makes us feel nurtured and secure vs. what IS the truth of security. Often we think we "have" something based on our beliefs only to find out it wasn't "real", or it wasn't "true". The Fingers of God talks to us about our beliefs. It point out our thoughts about security which are based on false assumptions or tied to old wounds.

For example, let's say that you never wanted to be hurt in love. So you start a relationship with someone who has an obvious limitation - they're married, they work too much, they're some how unavailable. You think the obvious limitation will keep you safe. It's a known known. A known limitation in the relationship which then means you are "safe" ~ secure from being hurt. Then comes the day you breakup. You find out, gee, you really were hurt! You THOUGHT you had kept yourself safe from being hurt by being in a relationship with a known limit when in fact, you really weren't so safe or secure at all.

The Full Moon points out the disparity between our vision of safety or security vs. the actual reality that we may not be seeing clearly. We think we're safe, but the truth is, not so much. We are not so safe. The Fingers of God will help you see that. Your belief about your safety or security was an illusion. After you see the illusion behind your belief, you're actually able to make much more informed choices.

Mercury and Mars are traveling together and talking to Chiron and Neptune. Chiron and Neptune are the apexes of the Fingers of God. They also are talking to all the other planets in the sky at degrees between 23-26. There are 10 points in the chart responding to the information and listening to the information coming from the Fingers of God. Expect exciting revelations!

The other thing that is happening under the lunation is that Mercury is building to an opposition to Uranus, and racing to catch up with Saturn for the third time. Again, Mercury is part of the Finger of God and talking to Uranus bringing information about the change in the structure of your life that started last fall. It might be shocking news. If it is shocking to you, you are better off to listen to it, and then walk away with out speaking. Go think about the news, rather than responding. You don't have all the information you need yet.

You won't have all the information until Mercury leaves his shadow on October 14th. Mercury is coming up to Uranus and Saturn quickly. Mercury passes them both before the lunation ebbs. Once you've gathered the information and absorbed it, you'll know what to do. Give yourself a few days to process the information before doing anything. Think back to the two or so weeks before November 4, 2008, February 6, 2009, and September 15, 2009 to see how the story ties together with the news you receive under the lunation.

Pallas Athena, the prism like diamond shaped asteroid that helps us see patterns, is on the world axis, calling us to see patterns in a way we've never seen them before. Pallas is approaching a closing psychological integration square to Pluto. Pallas is bringing to bear her brilliance and psychological understanding of the transformations taking place before us. She asks us to relax and know that there is a proper time for everything. Relax and know that now is probably NOT that time, but it will be soon. Process her information about the patterns in your life and the world around you.

Venus in Virgo is inconjunct to Jupiter. Venus in Virgo rules Pallas Athena. The inconjunct is a Scorpio-type, asking us to make a psychological or emotional adjustment to what we see. The real theme of the moon is deeply psychological. The Virgo Venus ties back to the "good girl" or "good boy" energy in all of us. While goodness is important, under this lunation, you may want to think about WHY you are being good? How are you being "good"? Does being "good" serve you or not?

Because Saturn is in Virgo, "goodness" can be confused with "taking responsibility". Taking responsibility is important, but not being taken advantage of is equally important. Some times "good" makes us swallow our desires to cooperate with the other person. The inconjunct suggests that there is some area where you are allowing things to be "nice" or "good" instead of holding people accountable or asking them to do their fair share. It doesn't have to be a major change. You do need to seeing how a being a 'good girl/boy' affects your ability to assert your power. You need to notice the pattern of not asserting yourself to go along and be nice, rather than saying, even in a very quiet voice, "Mm, that really doesn't work for me."

This is a moon where you are going to feel pushed to say, "No, that doesn't work for me." Don't be afraid to say it. Saturn is trine the North Node in Capricorn in the late degrees of Virgo. There is a lot of work to be done, and a healthy set of boundaries is the way to get it accomplished. No is important to setting boundaries. As Venus is approaching Saturn as well as a trine to the North Node, she needs to assert her right to say no. It is time for Venus to realize that no one is going to die, or hate her because she said "No, that doesn't work for me."

As Saturn gets ready to move into Libra and approaches his square to Pluto, getting a firm set of boundaries is very, very important. It is also time to hold people responsible. It is time to be personally accountable yourself for your actions. Under-commit on the lunation so you can make sure to keep your word. All the planets reverberating around the degrees of 23-27 suggest that there is a lot of cross-talk on the Full Moon. Low on fire, high on air, the words can fly out while the energy is just not there to get things done. Say, "Let's add it to the list!" whenever something comes up that is not anticipated or an emergency Make a master list of all the things that need to be fixed or done or changed to help you feel some element of control with the Finger of God pushing on your sense of security and safety.

The Sun and the Moon are triggering the eclipse degree from the July 7th 2009 eclipse, bringing the story from then back into the light. Mercury is still in his shadow, so it's not clear what you are supposed to do with the story. All you are supposed to do is know you are supposed to pay attention right now.

The Full Moon is kind of like reading a bunch of clues but not knowing their meaning. You're seeing a bunch of stuff, but not realizing they are actually clues! And then someone comes into the room. They say, "Ok, what just happened?" And you say, "Nothing happened." And they say, "Did this happen?" And you say, "Yes." And then they say, "And did this happen next?" And you say, "Well, yeah." And they say, "Did this happen too?" And you go, "Yeah."

And all of a sudden, the different pieces are linked up by the way the questions were asked of you by the other person. And, suddenly, you see what you needed to see. The question-linking will take place between now and the 18th/19th of October, as Mercury clears his shadow and Jupiter goes direct. You'll have your "a-ha" moment as the clues are linked up for you and before you. Your job, under this moon, is to just NOTICE stuff. Notice it. See it, even if you don't know that it's a clue.

Another way to think of it is lets say someone did something rotten/ illegal/ dishonest. And you didn't know about it. And now what's happened is that all of the clues have come out. You've been able to put it all together that they did something dishonest. You understand that they did it on purpose. They had a plan. They were working their plan, even if YOU weren't aware of their plan. You'll become aware of their plan under the moon or in the next two weeks as Mercury clears his shadow and Jupiter turns direct.

It doesn't even have to be rotten, illegal or dishonest actions. It can just be a value system that is different from your value system. They will tell you why their value system is the way to go. Your job is to say, in a very quiet voice, "Mm, that really doesn't work for me." And then you have to hold your ground. You have to negotiate for what you believe to be true for you. This isn't about the other person's values, this is about YOUR values coming into consciousness.

The whole point of this is for you to be clear! And to say, "Hmm, that doesn't work with what I want for my life, even if it IS what works for them in their life." Back to the good girl/boy theme. Are you being a good girl/boy because you want to be or because they want you to be? Inconjuncts and Fingers of God bring up the moral or ethical questions to help us see them on a different level. Often, we can get a little squishy about our boundaries or beliefs or understandings. This is a lunation where you are going to see your boundaries, understandings, and beliefs clearly. You are going to clarify which are your ethics and beliefs vs. the other guys' ethic and beliefs. You are going to understand that their ethics might be different than yours. The difference in ethics is not necessarily a cause for rupture, but it will give you pause. It will also help you figure out and clarify where you want to spend your time, how you want to proceed and what your boundaries are.

Mercury is in a quintile aspect to Jupiter, causing him to have a break through of sorts around his belief systems and his judgments as he goes through this process of sorting out what you believe to be true for YOU versus the rest of the world. Quintiles take place between the signs of Gemini and Cancer ~ they are what we know about what nurtures us.

Saturn is in a bi-quintile aspect to Neptune and Chiron, asking them to revise your personal vision and clarify what the shades of grey are in your world based on your past wounds, your dreams and sense of divine.

Bi-quintiles happen between the signs of Leo and Virgo. They help us link the playfulness of the true task of who we are and what we love, with what we love to work hard and do in the world ~ our beloved skill set ~ the things that turn us on when we think about doing them. What the bi-quintile does is help you link up what you love with what your work is to be. Bi-quintiles help us get clear on that teenage angst that still lives inside of us.

Virgo is the sign of adolescence. It's the time where we try on different types of identities, especially ones that are different from our family of origin. Virgo is a mutable sign so it's purpose is to change in nature. It changes and tries to figure out what it's true purpose and beliefs are. It wants to understand where it fits with the group and where it doesn't fit in with the group. A teenager's changeable nature sometimes wears makeup and sometimes wears work boots. Flannel shirts or lacy collars on the blouse. Virgo is still deciding.

The purpose of quintiles - bi or straight up - are to bring you in harmony with what your soul wants to do. They are the gifts in our charts. The parts that know what we want and do well. Think of this lunation as a giant clarifying opportunity that offers you the ability to see and say, "Yeah, THIS is what I believe." The purpose for the clarifying moment in your belief system is so you can wrap your arms around it and carry it forward into Saturn in Libra.

The key part to watch for is the clarifying moment. That's what this moon is about. The "Oh, I get it!" moment. That moment, which can happen NOW or any time between now and October 14- 17, will put the Saturn in Virgo journey into perspective. It will help you to understand what Saturn in Virgo has been trying to teach you. You will put the clues together like a giant treasure hunt. There ARE varying shades of grey. Virgo's job is to help you understand, from Black to White, the shades of grey are a continuum. Ethical issues are a continuum, not always black-and-white.

The Sabian Images for the Full Moon bring two opposing images together. One image is a flock of geese who rotate out leadership as they fly above the earth and the other image is miners who work below the earth deep in Pluto's realm. The contrast between these two images will be part of the gift of this lunation to you, as it helps you clearly see the choices, the path, and the vision of where you are going.

The true division of humanity is between those who live in light and those who live in darkness. Our aim must be to diminish the number of the latter and increase the number of the former. That is why we demand education and knowledge. ~ Victor Hugo

Lynda Hill's interpretation of the Sabian Image for the Aries Moon is A FLOCK OF WILD GEESE

Commentary: The 'Flock of Wild Geese' is a beautifully inspiring image of brotherhood and Aquarian ideals. Watching them fly can inspire feelings of group cohesion and the beauty of natural rhythms. The 'Flock' shows the need to join with others in a journey or a quest. Remember to take your cue from the 'Wild Geese' - when they fly in formation, they take turns in leading the way. Likewise, when one gets tired or sick, another takes the lead.

Oracle: Whilst this is a Symbol of working together with others, be wary of losing your sense of individuality. There may be a feeling of wanting to leave behind previous life constraints, to be able to spread your wings, to seek freedom from difficulties. However, there's a need to take note of "seasonal" variations that are happening around you. Obviously there is a time to "fly" and a time to relax and recover. You can't always be on the go; you must look after your needs for nourishment and sleep. 'Geese' are known for forming lifelong partnerships, so marriage or partnership may indeed be a consideration in this situation. However, it can sometimes be hard to 'ground' relationships. This Symbol is very much about brotherhood, respect and getting along with others. Taking off with those of like mind can lead to a whole new view of life or indeed a whole new adventure. Still, continually taking off on tangents with others whilst you could be making more permanent and loyal commitments to the long term can really test relationships. Remember to be aware of your responsibilities, to both yourself and others in the group. Know that there is support out there for you; just ask.

Keywords: Aquarian ideals of brotherhood. Attunement to planetary rhythms. Spirit liberated from matter. Wanting to take off by one's self, but not being able to. Focused group activity and support. Group mentality, action and agreement. Intuition and telepathy. Choreography. Camaraderie. "Honking" to egg each other on. Flying in the slipstream. Responses to seasonal changes.

The Caution: Following the leader without knowing where one's going. Never knowing where to land, or where to ground oneself. Wild goose chases. Not recognizing the brotherhood in humanity. Losing a sense of individual identity. Going off in the wrong direction.

Birds of a feather flock together. Saying

There is a destiny that makes us brothers, No one goes his way alone; All that we send into the lives of others, Comes back into our own. Edwin Markham

I met a hundred men going to Delhi and everyone is my brother. Indian Saying

A goose flies by a chart which the Royal Geographical Society could not mend. Oliver Wendell Holmes

Don't refuse to go on an occasional wild goose chase. That's what wild geese are made for. Henry S. Haskins

Cross in a crowd and the crocodile won't eat you. Malagasy Proverb

Likeness causes liking. Romanian Proverb

Not the cry, but the flight of the wild duck, leads the flock to fly and follow. Chinese Proverb

Lynda Hill's interpretation of the Sabian Image for the Libra Sun is MINERS ARE EMERGING FROM A DEEP COAL MINE

Commentary: 'Miners Are Emerging From a Deep Coal Mine'. They've been working hard, and the now siren has sounded and their shift is finished. Coming back to the surface, they can take a deep breath and feel themselves infused with fresh energy. Even if the Sun is going down at the end of the day, it and fresh air can bring a new awareness and wonder at being alive. The 'Miners' are free for now and finished with the day's work.

Oracle: It may feel as though you've been operating in the dark, or in some kind of underworld. When we've been submerged in work, deep issues or spaces for a long time, we often end up feeling suppressed and worn-out. Thoughts and emotions can be clouded with doubt and fear making them difficult to plumb or discover. You may feel like you have been in some kind of hell, perhaps you've had to go into the depths in the search for something. A feeling of breathlessness can erupt from not being able to understand what's happening. Take a deep breath and learn to relax! Delving deeply can bring messages from the subconscious that reveal some surprising things. However, it is often not enough to merely find the message; there's also a need to bring any realizations into the clear light of day so that you, and others, can benefit from this passage and learn to breathe more freely. Imagine coming back to the surface, taking a deep breath and feeling yourself infused with the energy of fresh air and the sun. Look carefully at situations, for it may take time for your eyes to adjust to the new light. Even if you need to go back within, into the 'Deep Coal Mine' in the near future, having faith and acceptance of being able to operate and see in "the dark" will assist you with any problems you may encounter. If you are 'Emerging' with others, this can lead to a 'Deep' sense of camaraderie, as people realize that they've been through the same straights and have come out okay.

Keywords: Release from arduous labor. Stopping work. Coming into the light. Deep subconscious healing. Hypnotherapy. Going into dark places. Claustrophobia. Memories from the past or out of nowhere. Things dark and "gothic". Lung and breathing problems. Persephone emerging. The labyrinth of the mind. The mind flooding. Tunnel vision. Caves. Mines. Digging for answers. Relief and time off. Ghost stories.

The Caution: Gloomy outlooks. Not seeing potentials. Emerging with a "blackened face". Difficulty breathing. Earning a living being a life and death situation. Working hard for small rewards. Emotional loops. Things hard to escape. Fear of confinement or capture.

The depth of darkness to which you can descend and still live is an exact measure of the height to which you can aspire to reach. Laurens Van der Post

Settle down, your logic will tell you that the Sun won't be anywhere near 22* on the 4th of the month.

Then you are worrying about the transiting Moon.

At the Full Moon it will be in the opposite sign and degree to the Sun. So it can't be anywhere near 21* to 22* Aries, can it?

We all have our moments. Like when I posted this on the wrong thread.

Any planets at 17 degrees Gemini, Aquarius, or Libra? According to Susan Miller this is handy for a bit of luck when Jupiter goes direct.

My South Node is at 17 Gemini, BM--that sounds pleasant...a bit of extra good luck for my South Node??

Although I notice that I always have major extra luck when transiting Jupiter is Retro...maybe it's my natal Retro Jupiter.

The Aries full moon will oppose my Pluto.

The Aries Full Moon will:
conjunct my retro Chiron in 10'32 Aries in 8th
conjunct my retro Eris in 12'14 Aries in 8th
sextile/trine my Lunar Nodes in 10'30 Aquarius in 6th/Leo in 12th
sextile/trine my Midheaven/Imum Coeli in 11'14 Gemini/Sagittarius

the harvest moon! love it.

tonight as i parked my car i looked up, it was still light but the moon was up, it was huge and not quite full but close, but what struck me most was it looked like a ghost moon, almost transparent.

my boss reckons its just a hologram anyway, but somehow it has always seemed very real to me!

Hmm interesting. My moon's at 18 degrees Aries, my guy's moon is at 24 degrees, so I guess it's not connecting to our moons really.
But I think every time it's a full moon or new moon in Aries I feel all weird and out of whack. It's like almost TOO much energy.
Ah well.
It's going to move out of there soon enough, to nice, cozy Taurus

Gosh! Reading this and putting together the story from last year Nov 4, then this year February 9 and then September 15... It scares me.

I hope it is not a repetition of what happened then. *crosses fingers*

Oh gues what... although a bit far off, my Vertex and this guy's Sun are at 15 degrees Aries. I am just holding on to the fact that the orb might be too wide. Please tell me that 11 and 15 is wide!!??? Cr@p! I am really not in the mood for fateful disappointments. I don't want to wake up next month to realize that I was forcing an issue and I am not in Lurv as I think I am.

Yes, that's my biggest fear. Not that the other person doesn't love me, but that I don't love them. Actually both are just as bad. So, now I wait.
