aka kat - i'm never 100% about anything on video or recording these days. but i do know people who say this is not only true but has been pretty common knowledge in washington for years.and they don't need astronauts for this kind of mission. the machines do it all. as for the moon being a sovereign body that has never hurt us, very true, and that is why there is a treaty to prevent messing around with celestial bodies...we DON"T KNOW WHAT EFFECT WE WILL HAVE when we do. but as usual, anyplace that doesn't have an army defending it is fair game, right jwhop? uh, sorry, jwhop was on the GU version of this! much ado about nothing .. i must have misread a ton .. at first it was a 'bomb' .. turns out to be an oversize bullet .. 'n the estimated crater was going to be 5 kilometers .. ( news item sais an expected crater of 30 meters by 4 meters .. ( ~ http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/sci/tech/8299118.stm ~ the aliens must have been seriously unimpressed .. IP: Logged |

a well doesn't need to be very wide across. it still makes a hole in the ground. this MAY be much ado about nothing, but it's also about us carrying on invading (literally) places that appear to us to have no "owners" - the new frontier maybe, or maybe it IS already occupied, like most places are, and we are disregarding those previous inhabitants?it shows we have not altered our basic MO of creating situations and garbage we don't know the consequences of yet. use up one territory, move on to the next and leave the ruins behind... Is it possible for Nasa to just go and do something like this? wouldn't they need permission and a suitable warning sent out to the leaders, the people, of this world? btw - my brother is convinced this is a hoax.IP: Logged |

I think I'll go to the moon and claim it. Then I'll poo and wee all over it. International treaties won't mean a thing to me. Why should they? I'm an egoist and no-one else matters.

There is discussion about it at Tenth Planet yahoo group according to moderator,Roy MacKinnon: The history of the project from commencement onwards right up until now are there for interested people to view and study. All you need to do is to go to the NASA site and view the appropriate web pages. Basically, the idea was conceived away back in the Spring of 2006 when it was appreciated first that the substantial presence of lunar water would help facilitate exploration by providing one of the essentials for human life. The project was launched on a shoestring budget and the actual launch of the LCROSS rocket was on 18th June, 2009 the rocket and its instrumentation have been in space some 113 days in earth/moon orbit prior to the intended south lunar pole impact. The S. Pole was chosen because of the extreme cold which it was hoped would maximise the likelihood of finding substantial amounts of ice. This is a project done on minimal budget not a military one. It very simply is a worthwhile scientific project intended to increase our knowledge of earth's nearest neighbour.

Japan knows the moon has water on it. So does India. They didn't need to shoot a rocket into the moon to find this out.I think it's another tactic at showing the World who has the biggest missile. A strategy in working towards One World Government. IP: Logged |

I could write a page long rant about how p.i.s.s.e.d I am at the arrogance of earthlings who manage NASA, but since this is an astrological forum, I'll stick to astrology. What does it means, that the moon is being attacked by the earth? That has never happened before... The attack took place on a day when the moon in Gemini was squared by Saturn, Uranus, Mercury and Venus. I think that anyone with planets at 21 degrees of Gemini is bound to feel some stress at this time. My mom has a planet there, and I will call her tomorrow to see how she is doing. IP: Logged |

true, we are not the first to crash things into the moon, nor to know there is water there. whether or not the stuff about ET's is true, and whether or not we are doing any damage we are basically monkeying with something without a mind to the consequences. i am pretty sure this is all with an eye to colonization or at least establishing some kind of bases, which is FURTHER monkeying with unknowns ... it just smacks of the same old schtick, ie when the place you are living in is used up, go find another. never mind the trash you leave behind, let someone else (who for whatever reason can't move on, or won't) deal with those problems. either we KNOW there are other intelligent beings out there or we are working in ignorance... i find it intriguing and POSSIBLY worrying. of course star trek and star wars (and twilight zone) covered some of the possible pitfalls but mostly i worry that we are not being careful about possibly contaminating other celestial bodies and space.
