My Moon is in Libra, his Sun is in Aries. My Sun is in Virgo, his Moon is in Pisces. Our Suns are opposites of each others Moons.

Yet- when I've calculated a compatibility chart, these aspects played no role whatsoever.. not even mentioned. I know it's probably because the orbs aren't close enough, but even still, shouldn't the opposition in signs still be evident in our relationship? The Sun and Moon are crucial planets..

Opposite isn't the same as opposition. If the report focused on aspects that would be why it wasn't mentioned. But no reason why you can't draw your own conclusions as to how the opposite signs phenomenon works in your relationship. You've got so far with foumula, now let your instincts fly.
