i think all of you know 12 house!!but its meaning is such mysterious hidden and if some planets are in this house it is not very good!!
here is a part from an astrologer:

Just so, our first instances of self-expression that we offer into the world are vulnerable and easily defeated, but the effect of their success or failure on our personality is enormous. Pulling some of our energy back into our self to keep it from being defeated or overwhelmed has two results. If we are aware of what we are doing, it becomes our hidden secret. If this process is unconscious, it becomes a rejected aspect of the self. These secrets or repressed aspects of the self form the classical interpretation of the twelfth house.

But what if the immature energy we put into the world isn’t defeated early on? Then it can become a source of strength and a dominant aspect of our personality, and even signify our career. The twelfth house is thus where we build inner strength to overcome limitations, sorrows and fears, and where the individual adapts to the collective. It signifies self-undoing: where we stand in our own way, where we are not free to let ourselves become and be who we essentially already are. It also represents that which is hidden, karma, limitation, confinement, prison, betrayal, sacrifice, hospitals and institutions, nuns and priests, secrets and secret enemies (who may just be rejected aspects of ourselves), initiation, ultimate understanding, and charity given or received.

it is scary!!

I don't know if this is silly but an image of how the 12th house works hit me. If you had the sun in twelth house and were going on a diet, you would buy a cheesecake. It would be a drive to sabatoge forward steps.
I read that Venus in 12th house can sabatage love by having affairs.
I am VERY new to astrology so please don't take what I say seriously. I am just trying to learn.
My M who drove me crazy had sun in 12th house in Aqua combust mercury and it was opposed to my Jupiter.
She tried to undermine my ideals and make me doubt myself.

Dear Taurus 77
I was reluctant to post cuz you seemed afraid of the 12th house. I hope I did not add insult to injury. If I did, I apologize. I would hate to do that!

me too! I have Saturn in the 12th, and Sun/Venus in the 8th. I dream of deaths before they happen, I hate it. Wish I could dream of more pleasant upcoming events.

Jupiter is in the 4th, guess he doesn't count as a personal planet though....hmmm.

taurus77, don't be afraid of the 12th house. It can be difficult sometimes, but the gifts this house has to offer can be great as well. Individuals that has planets in this house might find themselves often dealing with situations about idealism, dreams, hopes, spiritualism, illusions, confusions and fears, but through all these they can achieve greater sensibility (understanding many things others might miss) and greater wisdom/vision.

My SO has saturn, venus and moon in my 12th house(overlay). He gets me like no other person. That is my personal experience except for my M who has sun combust mercury in HER 12th house in Aqua.It opposes my Jupiter
I am trying to figure out her chart b/c no one else in her family is really crazy except for her. Could this 12th house do it,do you think?

I'm not sure Ami Ann, but it would seem to me like that person would feel very misunderstoood, or perhaps their actions would come across wrong and be exagerated to some extent. Don't feel bad, lots of us around here have Mother issues, you are not alone.

I was just looking through my charts of friends and ex's. This one in particular, had sun, moon and venus in the 12th.
ouch.
He spoke alot about his ex girlfriend to me, and about how she had left him, and he was so heartbroken, blah, blah, blah...then the longer we talked, come to find out that she left him #1- because he dated her for 7 years and wouldn't committ. #2- because he went to a concert, met some girl, and ran off with her for months....breaking up her family and his, and would not cut ties with her once he did come home, and #3- because he would not work, and he girlfriend had to support him and his, ahem, habits.

So, now you have me wondering, if the 12th house is your subconscious mind, I wonder if some of these people are even aware of their actions, or is it is as much as a surprise to us as it is to them??? Just a thought there.
Btw, the man I speak of above, was an addict from the age of 17 - 35. Surely he was trying to escape something.
I dunno.
He cut ties with me for no apparent reason, that I know of. Just quit communication one day, and never logged back on to his FB or myspace again. And we knew each other in real life, we grew up together!!

So, yeah, the 12th house, that one is a mystery to me too.

Oh yeah, and I just remembered about him, the girlfriend he had for 7 years, he stole from a good friend! She was married to his good friend, and they had an affair a year or so before he went down and got her and her kids, and brought them to his home. That is some tangled web stuff right there!

GYPSEEWIND, you wrote:

I know that it's difficult to discuss isolated, singular aspects ... but I DO recognize the 12th-house traits that you are describing in the quote above. Once, I was very close (deeply in love) with a man, who not only had his SUN in his 12th, but also his URANUS-PLUTO-conjunction in the 12th - and his MERCURY sitting right on the cusp from 11th to his 12th. What made things worse: Both his Sun & Mercury formed a tight square to his Neptune in his 3rd - so his "self" and the way he fantasized about it and, well, "presented" it got even more blurred! Very early, right in the initial stages of our relationship, I sensed some kind of vagueness about him - and about his own(!) self-image. But I never held that against him - I always sensed some deep pain within him, he was kind of desperately seeking WHO he was at all. He was so confused, vague ... it was quite funny (ridiculous) sometimes. He made up the weirdest fantasy stories about his past etc - told loads (!) of nonsense stories. At first I found that quite charming, a bit weird, crazy and all ... but: charming, in a way. So that was one effect of SUN/MERC in 12th squaring NEPTUNE in 3rd.

And, in the beginning, my natural, humourous, optimistic way of reacting to his fantasy stories went like this: I laughed and asked him: "How? What? But that can't be true, what you're telling here, haha. Last week you claimed that you had been in another country then ..." Sometimes we both laughed then, and at first, he just admitted his fantasy stories, answering something like: "Haha, okay, you caught me. Well .... I just wanted to impress you, haha, or: Well .... I just wanted to check whether your really listen to what I am saying, haha"

But the fantasizing/lying never stopped. It got worse, increased ... and I got into situations so many times when I had to decide: "OMG - he's doing the fairy tale thing AGAIN! What can I do? Tell him AGAIN: ,Sorry, but you're talking ******** , Sir' - that would make me the "ever nagging woman", which I am not!!! Or just shut my ears and pretend I didn't hear it ...?"

So ... it really grew difficult to deal with this. And ... his kind of fantasizing got more ... aggressive, in a way.

Really: After a while, afte several months I discovered that all these charming make-belief-stories are not THAT charming, really. He also used more aggressive methods ... That was his URANUS/PLUTO-cj., also in is 12th, conjuncting his ASC from his 12th (by 3dg) - and therefore opposing his DSC. There was a very mean, manipulative side to his 12th house-energy - and he was (still is today, with other people) using his (hidden) 12th house-energy to influence, manipulate, fight his "opponents"/partners (DSC).

All in all: The vagueness (and insecurity) he felt about himself in his 12th house... unfortunately he decided to fight these by manipulating/hurting, dis-respecting other people, and used his 12th energy for this as well. I hope that he'll find peace one day - first with himself, then with other people.

AVRAVELLA!

Yes! You just described Michael to a "T."

He was the same sort of vague/confused type of person.

And you know, I listen very closely to the things people say, the little things. Call it reading between the lines if you will.
Anyway, one time we were having a convo discussing watching ourselves on video, and what did we think when we saw ourselves.
Anyway, his response was, "I'm always enchanted by myself on video." To which, I asked "why because of the way you look vs. the way you think you look?" And he said, "Nope, because I'm always shocked at the complete and utter bull$hit that comes out of my mouth, and I swear to you, I don't even remember saying that stuff!"

I thought that was very revealing for a 12th house person.
I also agree with what you said, forgive me if I misquote, but something about underlying issues and such. He did have them. I believe he had them his whole life. Otherwise, why would you chose to escape by using crack for your entire adult life?? So, yep, you have a good handle on that subject.

Alvarella & Gypsy-

I know exactly what you two are talking about and knew someone just the same. Stellium in cancer in the 12th. Lied about everything and it was the most beautiful lying I have ever heard but the reality was devastating for everyone involved with him.

The entire negative spectrum discussed regarding the 12th house had played out in this man's life and he remains the most ephemeral human being I have ever met. Alcoholic, drug addict, institutions, child abuse, art, you name it. His condition made me consider the spiritual side to all of the negative traits that he manifested. That one makes reality what they want it to be. He was capable of a type of dissolution of the self, as if there was no self- Tons of bad pluto aspects too so he tried to maintain a sense of control and must have known but not wanted to face what others would think of his actions.

As a pisces sun with loads of cap influence I knew what was happening and made a willful choice for awhile to believe him. Reality never met with fantasy of course.

I know a ton of people with 12th house personal planets. All of them walk a thin line between what is real and what is made up. My mother is a 12th house gemini and I would swear she cannot see herself. It goes against the 12th house to see yourself but at the same time the illusion of what COULD be is so beautiful. For all of the bad things they can do, it pains them to hurt anything, but they do and the cycle progresses.

I would love to meet someone who had their 12th house under their grasp but it must not be easy. I have a similar problem but I don't think it is as extreme which makes me think that the house itself has more power than the planet associated with it.

I'll trade my 8th house sun though. I get tired of the constant rising from the flames of devastation theme.

I Have Sun exact on my ASC. For me it looks like house 12 has been alike importent as house 1.
I think it's also is a part of my choice of job/husband. I also have a need to be alone.

My exhusband house 12 in gemini/cancer. His moon/merk/venus/Sun was in pisces. He was manipulative but in god way. He could take people. Everyone loved him. My children loved him. He was good, kind and kindhearted.

I get tired of rising from the flames of constant devastation.

Wow. I think that is one of the best descriptions of 8th sun I have read, and I feel the same way Ursa, but, as I age, I think I'm realizing, (and this may be just a reflection of other things in my chart along with the 8th house sun) that I bring these situations on myself, every time. I think the 8th houses forces change, and refuses to stay stagnant for long on issues, especially issues core to the to the theme of who we are as people.
