Some time ago, I've posted a thread about orbs:
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/202928.html Actually, it's not that the aspects wider than 3ºdegrees wouldn't really be relevant, coz they are. But I would think that while within 3ºdegrees the bodies are really affecting each other, wider than that would mean compatibility/incompatibility only and not really affecting each other. For example, with squares wider than 3ºdegrees, we might be disliking each other, but within 3ºdegrees we might actually be slapping each other lol. XP
So now I'm thinking about "testing" this by collecting opinions of actual experiences.
But instead of conjunctions, I want to test it with squares, since it might be easier to notice the difference the orbs could make with this aspect than with conjunctions.
The "test" here is simple: think about the squares found in your synastries - which squares were definitely felt, and which aren't really a problem at all? And in the most problematic squares, were the degrees within 3º, while the less problematic ones are more than 3ºdegrees?
For example, in my case, in the synastry of me and my bf, my Saturn squares his AC (4º~5ºdegrees/out-of-sign) while his Saturn squares my Jupiter (less than 3ºdegrees). Normally, people would think that the first aspect is definitely the worst one, but then we never really felt that problem at all. On the other hand, it seemed that second aspect has been more annoying lol. His Saturn actually opposes my Mars as well, but it's more than 3ºdegrees, and again, this has also not really been a problem at all.
So how about you guys?
