I have Taurus on the Descendent. I have so much air and water, I need a partner to be able to pull me down from the ethers LOL.
I realize it does not have to be a straight earth sign.
It can be a guy who knows who he is.
So, he can be grounded in knowing who he is.
I guess my point is that I think the sign on the Descendent can be an "energy" rather than the actual sign.
Lara helped me to start thinking this way on the thread about her Ascendent.

I have Pisces DC, and despite my Aries Sun/Moon/Venus/Mercury, I need a partner who is sensitive, selfless and caring. Someone like this can also calm my Arian side and inspire me. Also, it's strange that with all those fire, I'm actually easy to hurt that I need someone sensitive enough or else I feel that I can't open myself much.

That makes sense ,Comica, cuz the Descendent is also what WE need inside to make ourselves whole. That is why we are attracted to it in another .

Gemini is on my DESC, but Mercury is exactly conjunct my Sun in 1st house, so I guess I do have a bit of these mercurial qualities myself.
And I have never really fallen for a Gemini.

BUT in all my synastries t here usually will be strong Mercury aspects, or at least many, interestingly often to THEIR Mercury.

Yes, that is my point ,DD. I started thinking that you have to think beyond being attracted to the"narrow" sign but to the energy, as you expressed so well! Ami

I am not convinced of my AC but in men, i need someone to ground me and stop me turning into a forest fire.

I'm supposed to be Aries AC although i really find Libran men incomprehensible and Aries women i have an instant, unconscious dislike to... no idea why. I find them too rude and abrasive. LOL (don't laugh)

Most of my friends are either Aries, Sagittarius, Virgo, Scorpio, Pisces or Leo. Since my planets progressed to Gemini i am attracting more Gemini/Aquarian friends!

My DC is Capricorn, I like man that are serious and responsable, I was marry to a Cancer man who had Saturn in my first house but I think the problem was that planet square my Sun, Venus, & Mars that was terrible, he was always picking on me according to him I did not do anything well.
For years I thought that I was stupid ugly
unplesant etc, you know how Saturn is the glue, I was married for 23 years. One day I really looked at myself and I said the hell with it. My ACS has progress to Virgo and the men that I been involved with are Virgos, or have their ASC there, and most of the time their Saturn there. I never been with a Capricorn, but I do love Aries and Scorpios man.

You should have someone who has a Sun in Taurus or moon in taurus...at least that conjuncts your DC

I have a DC in gemini, I pretty much want a guy with a great intellect. I also can be a flirt lol despite having sun/merc/venus in cancer (vertex in cancer as well)

I was joking around. I never date Libra men. Even though my Mars and Moon is in Libra. I notice that they have something IN libra usually, but NOT their sun.

My seventh house has Scorpio in Nept/Merc, and, yep, I love them!! And if they don't have a Scorp Sun, they have either the Moon or Asc there. My SNode is in Scorpio, I should be moving on, I suppose, but it's an addiction.

my dsc is also in gemini. I think your theory makes sense, Ami Ann. I tend to neglect the details in the small stuff and stay up in the big ideas and theories. I need to stop thinking about them and actually do them. I got 3 planets in sag in the first house and ethics/morals color too much of my actions and sometimes becomes a restraint. The saying "those who cant do, teach" really stirs something in me lol.

my current boyfriend is a very mercurial individual. He has a gem moon (opposite sag sun!) and also has a sun-mercury cazimi. And yes, i think intellectual types are sexy

he has capricorn dsc and I really can't speak for him, but his chart is very lacking in earth (he's only got mars in virgo, and no planets in earthy houses). So NEEDING earth is definitely apparent. I am by NO means an earthy individual myself (only neptune in earth-capricorn, and mars in the second) but i funnily enough i have saturn on the asc! Furthermore, his saturn in conjunct my sun and SN, and my saturn is loosely conjunct his sun, and there is a sun-saturn conjunct in our composite as well. Glue all over the place. Sometimes i can feel he gets uncomfortable with the glue but he is definitely not washing it off.

thanks for bringing this up, i had fun pondering haha

I think you are right about the Descendant "energy", more than the person being the actual sign on the DSC. My DSC is in Gemini. I have never dated or been involved with a Gemini. I don't think I even know any Gemini. But I know that I am only attracted to incredibly intelligent men, who can talk about anything and everything. Oh, and of course my Venus is in Gemini, so that just pushes it toward a Gemini type even more. My guy is a Cancer sun like me, but he is also a Venus in Gemini, 3rd house. Incredibly intelligent communicator.

His Sun, Venus and Mercury are in my 7th house....he just sort of had me at hello.

Yes, Venus in Gemini
I started thinking about this when I had a relationship with a guy with strong Virgo.
The Virgo energy was something that felt hard for me to get close to
A romantic relationship has to have a body comfort element.
The person just has to fit.
I am noticing energies between people--male and female friends.
Some people you fit with like a puzzle piece. Others are somewhat of a struggle but do-able . With others you seem to keep missing each other.
I think that if you got the chart, you could see right where the problem was.
I have done that with two friends and the exact places I felt a disconnect, I could see in the chart.
One, I am close to intellectually but not connected emotionally.
We have no moon aspects.

Cancer Descendant--- I have so much water, but I'm terribly unexpressive. I guess I do need someone to bring it out before I blow up like a volcano.

I've never been romantically involved with another cancer before but after a really awesome (platonic) connection I shared with one (who's male, but totally gay) I don't think I would rule it out I would rule it out in the future. He does need to have something in gemini for conversation/thought, and some Taurus wouldn't hurt either (for grounding).

Sag DSC, Saturn & Uranus conjunct it by 2 degrees, Jupiter in Aries in 11th.

I like anarchists.

Lol but really I like guys that are politically conscious, are idealistic, nerdy but also daredevils, and the more hobbies they have, the better. I also don't like typical macho d-bags.

[Quote another gemini DC here..

geminis are fun, great fun, but no way i could ever be with one (so scattered and dare i say flakey, at times. but enough times to count). i do tend to obsess over COMMUNICATION in a relationship and feel that i NEED it. in terms of specific qualities i need in a partner that relate to gemini, i think it boils down to wit, intelligence and an ability and willingness to talk about *anything* and talk things through when necessary. just a general openmindedness and curiosity about life. the ability to have fun. wordplay is a huge turn on. seriously: sexy.

i wonder about the correlation of the DC to one's childhood. the AC is supposed to about your social mask and the way you adapted to your environment in childhood, so i take it the DC represents what you needed but maybe didn't necessarily get? i'm a little fuzzy on that one and there isn't much info on the DC as relates to initial famly patterns out there (or if there is i haven't found anything that explains it to my satisfaction). i know in my case there was a distinct LACK of communication in my family (tons of rage, rampant alcoholism, and a severely abusive mother who hated me for no reason other than i was 'of' my father), so i may have developed my DC because i needed to UNDERSTAND her and the situation, and in attempting such, i could find some safety and distance from her constantly cruel remarks, etc. or maybe because she was so dual-natured (seemed like a nice person to the world in general, but a monster at home). i'm not really sure. all i know is that to feel safe in a partnership, i really need to UNDERSTAND where the other person's coming from and who they are, and i'm trying to curb my obsession with that and just trust and feel what is, rather than need verbal confirmations OF what i feel.

so that said, i wonder if your DC isn't necessarily about what you need NOW per se as maybe what you needed in your formative years? ..or, the general sense of need remains, BUT isn't necessarily *necessary*..?

haha all this gemini talk has got me commmmunicative. go figure.

Dear Woah
That is an interesting theory about the Descendent. I never felt safe on the earth, grounded, in my childhood. I always tried to find some small hole and squish myself in it lol.
Taurus--the most grounded sign--is my Descendent. Ami
