I do have Mercury conjunct my 7th house ruler. Maybe that explains some it.
Plus I can be really immature.

So a woman interested in and dating younger men is predatory, while a man interested in and dating younger women is just being, hmmm, normal.

I guess my Venus sextile Uranus laughs at all these boxes people love to stuff themselves and others into. This is one instance where I am so grateful for Uranus. Frees me from society's constraints.

ETA: And yes I have Mercury in the 7th, nicely sextiled my Jupiter. Younger men FLOCK to me.

The term makes me cringe, too, Melody. Partially because of what Belage mentioned, above.

I was thinking Aqua influences too, my Aqua friend lives with someone 21 years younger than her. People always comment on her "handsome son" and she doesn't bat an eyelash. I guess I may be too vain, because that would really bug me.

I don't like the word either, it makes it sound like you want to eat them or something.

That's funny - the 'norm' is that men with much younger women are often called predatory by other women LOL. So no, I don't really get the double-standard here that Belage is talking about. Maybe like up until the 60s or something it was considered normal for a guy to marry a younger woman. But a guy running around with a much younger woman was almost always called derogatory names by women.

I really don't care either way. Cougar is a funny word for a woman who goes after younger men. Or a woman who attracts them
It's not like Cougar is a scientific term which is going into an encyclopedia, so I don't see a reason to get hung up on it.

I know a Gemini moon, female (Virgo Asc). She's ALWAYS gone for younger guys! Somehow she's recently captured one 12 years younger than her and is now married to the feller!

I have Mercury in the 7th but no I don't attract younger men.

The men who show active interest are much older...I'd rather attract men my age but all they do is make eyes at me if interested, what is the point of that, then if I go to talk to them it's dead end conversation. I don't need to be stared at I need to be talked to like a real person; at least the older men know how to converse. Oh yea I have Mars/Saturn in the 3rd.

I will admit to enjoying boyish looks no matter their age.

I attracted lots of much older people (20+ years) when I was much younger, tho they still looked VERY young for their age, so that's interesting, Lonake!

Then when I hit 30 I began attracting men about 10-20 years younger lol.

Interestingly though in my long term relationships there's not been anything more than a 2-year difference. I have ZERO Gemini in my chart. I have a sun in Virgo and that's it as far as mutable pretty much (unless you count Neptune Sadge which I do not since it's generational and doesn't make hard aspects to my chart). But Mercury in general is strong in my chart, esp for attraction.

Now thats interesting, did you look younger than you were @ the time? I was carded yesterday and the lady thought I was 19....I never know if the old guys are trying to be pervy.

The reverse is somewhat related to saturn/capricorn as you say. Do you like youthful types? I'm guessing if youre like me, if they appear stodgy/too serious without a mercurial balance they're out of the running?

Lonake, I tend to display either extreme seriousness or extreme goofiness when I am romantically interested - not much inbetween
Looking young-ish runs in the family, but I've been told often that I can seem very 'little girl'-like when I drop my guard. And sometimes I act very childish actually - not in a good way. I'm feeling this is an Aries moon quality. lol.

The men I wind up with have VERY young-ish looks or behavior. I prefer young looks I do like men with a strong youthful streak. The older types were intrigued by me because I acted 'wild and untamed' (according to them).

Once in a while I'll end up with a guy who loves that 'free, youthful' side of me but also wants to 'take care of me', which tends to make me go running the other way, screaming. I am not looking for daddy, dammit!
Yes, I am like you in that way I guess

I wonder about Juno. I have my Juno in Sagittarius. I wonder how much flavor she adds in the commitment department. I need to feel I can breathe with the guy I am with, and the ones younger deep down or in age are just easier for me to commit me. What sign's your Juno... does it tie in to this whole mess ?

aqua friend 1(sun conj saturn) is strictly against dating younger guys.
she's recently fallen for a dude who's 6 months younger & you should see the fuss she makes @ times.
however, aqua friend 2 with the same aspect continously falls for men & age doesn't matter.

my juno's in libra in the 8H.doesn't it look like "if i live, only 4 him & if i die, only for him" kind of aspect. but it
sext sun/mars
"sq uran/nept"
fortunately
it trines saturn too

i was reading of a scenario where an actor with juno sq uranus + juno conj saturn died in the hospital with his wife on one side & mistress on the other.
i've neva dated a younger guy but em highly unfaithful. though i really really luv my partner,i can't consciously stop checking out other men.

VirgoMask, funny, we must be living on different planets, because I know plenty of men who are dating or married to women 10 years younger and no one calls these men derogatory names. But a woman dating men 10 years younger does get called names and is assumed to be desperate. The truth is that if she was really desperate, she'd go after much older men who are too happy to get anyone and are not going to turn her down. Heck, she'd go after any man who breathes. Desperate people can't be picky.

I think we just have different perspectives, Belage. I don't see the term Cougar as demeaning, either though.

i would hardly call a woman dating a man 10 years younger and possibly hot in any way desperate. in fact quite the opposite. she could probobly have whoever she wants.

mvm- you said when you was 30 you met guys 10-20 years younger - that equals 10, either your hanging out at the playground or you are exaggerating!

kat - ok, i amend it, he just acts like an old fart, we are close to the same age, i suppose. and hes putting on like 20lbs a month since we got married, i think his cookie is trine his ice cream conjunct his jupiter squaring asteroid belly. might be that.

i think the word cougar is kind of sexy actually. preditory even. oh my.

cpn you need to get him away from white castle!!

so i guess the term cougar is a reaction to "fox" - more powerful and dangerous...and i agree that the names for men who go for much younger women are hardly flattering...let's see - letch, cradle robber, and old fool(there's no fool like an old fool) come to mind.

tho traditionally women are thought to be more mature emotionally and mentally than men and that is one of the reasons it is considered "normal" for them to be the younger partner...it is also true that women tend to be able to "perform" longer, are less likely to have heart attacks and also tend to live longer so after 30 a younger man makes evolutionary sense ...

but i guess it depends on what you want them for? a roll in the sack, a life partner who is your equal, a sugar daddy, the options are endless and i agree that all these boxes are really pointless!!

cpn-i agree with you...

i don't give a **** if my 50 y.o neigbour marries a 24 y.o hot guy(i'll only be jealous & think of flirting with him).
some people are just too jugdemental & biased. it's like,a guy who sleeps around is called a stud(praise worthy right) but a chick who does that is called a sl*t(which's considered derogatory).....

narrow mindedness is the mother of all derogatory terms.

My cousin married a woman who was 11yrs his senior when he was like, 20. They were married for 20yrs and had a child.

It was pretty scandalous when i was a kid but no one in my family cared.

i'd like to point out a non astrological fact:
men go through their sexual peak at around 18
women go through their sexual peak at around 35

seems logical to me.

i think they (we) both have to learn from the experience and, quite frankly, would be happy to have an 18 year old knocking at my door. (36 coming up in 10 days)

Hmm, well I have a friend that goes for younger guys, but not by a huge gap, jus 2-5 years younger. She has her Moon in Capricorn. Maybe a person with strong Cap influence? I'm just guessing here so I may be wrong, sorry Caps! lol

Also a male friend I know who has his ACS, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn dated older women when he was in his teens. Now in his mid 20's he seems to go for younger women.

Also I don't date people around my age, they have to be alot older lol. I'm just attracted to the maturity that comes with older guys. But not old as in 'rolling around in his wheelchair' old, lol. Saturn conjuncts my Sun, Mercury, Venus, and trines my Moon is probably why.

I say, whoever you're comfortable being with, just do your thing!!

For me, when I think of youth, the planet that comes to mind is Jupiter. Jupiter/Sag influences want to be free, experience joy, go on adventures, and wants to be free of boundaries and restrictions by it's opposite Saturn. Saturn is planet of restrictions, father time, authority figures and such. Jupiter is expansion and the exact opposite of everything Saturn seems to stand for.

My mother has a Sag Ascendant and she has dated younger men and easily attracts younger men since my father and her split up several years ago. My next door neighbor is dating a guy 10 years younger than her(he's about 20 years old) and she is a Sag Sun and Sag Ascendant.

Look for strong Jupiter, Sag, planets occupying the 9th, or strong 9th house ruler influences in the natal chart in my opinion to see if you are dealing with a "cougar".
